Video gaming keeps growing. The major consoles have been out for a while now and game developers continue to bring out more action, stunning details, and incredible gameplay in the newest games this year. We expect some amazing announcements this June as we celebrate gaming with Play at Best Buy. Follow us as we cover the biggest announcements and preorders in the gaming industry. You can learn about all the gaming news in our articles and preorder many of the games soon after they are announced (or learn when preorders begin). And like every year in June, Play at Best Buy will include a huge gaming contest!
Innovation and nostalgia make gaming better every year
The gaming world is constantly adapting and building on its previous successes. Each new game is an iteration on the programming, animation, videography, and sound design that came before to bring an immersive blend of storytelling, interactive entertainment, and competition. This year we have already seen amazing games, including Star Wars: Jedi Survivor by Respawn and EA games. And Nintendo just released the highly anticipated: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans have been waiting for years to play this game and many are already calling it the game of the year.
Both of those titles bring a healthy dose of nostalgia with new game play features that stretch the limits of technology. We expect to see more of this trend in many of the gaming announcements over the rest of this year, especially from now to the end of June. Be on the lookout for several more reboots and sequels. Additionally, watch for potential future franchise games in the many indy titles vying for our attention.
Prizes are huge part of Play at Best Buy
The announcements started early this year with the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th. The buzz of gaming month is driven in a large part by gaming announcements, but also by the great deals that Best Buy will feature all month long. It’s just a great month to be a gamer! To top it off, Best Buy has the best gaming contest anywhere in Canada! Look at these amazing prize packages.

How to enter
Entering this contest will be fun and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below: tell us the name of a game you played in the past that you think should be redone soon. A valid entry must include all three of these parts: 1. what console you played it on; 2. what changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; and 3. on which console would you like to try this new version of the game.
- Social post: For two additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel sharing with your friends and followers that you are entering the Play at Best Buy blog contest. Let your friends know which prize package you are hoping to win and what new game you will play first if you do win; include the hashtag #PlayatBestBuyContest, so we can find your post, and include a picture from this contest page. Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
- Email a photo: If you visit any Best Buy store, take a picture with your smartphone of the gaming section in a store showing several of the games available that you love to play. Then in an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with the subject line “Play at Best Buy Contest” tell us the location of the store (city, street) and attach the picture.
What you can win
At the end of the contest, we will randomly select six (6) winners from all eligible entries. These winners will be randomly assigned to the six prize packages shown above so each winner will get one of those six prize packages.
This contest runs from May 31st to June 30th.
Remember you can enter up to four times as mentioned above. Perhaps you’ve been trying to win a prize in a Best Buy Canada contest for many years and just have not been lucky. Hedge your bet by telling all of your friends and family that you really need their support for this amazing contest. They’ll likely be happy to enter this contest too. If they win, I’m sure they’ll share the prize with you.

Good luck.
NFL blitz needs to come back. I played it on n64 and improvements I’d say just graphics in general And would be great on Nintendo switch

They should remake Wizardry
1) 286 PC
2) Updated to use the latest tech, such as VR
3) PS5
A game that I’ve played in the past that I think should be redone soon is Sim Ant! I used to play it on Super Nintendo. I think it would be exciting if they made the new version in 3D and I would like to try to play it on PS5 🙂
Had so much fun playing Donkey Kong on my Nintendo 64, that I would love it if they remade it for my Switch with better graphics.
1. Harvest Moon Save the Homeland
2. Obviously rename it to Story of Seasons Save the Homeland then give it all the features they’ve brought to Friends of Mineral Town & Wonderful Life. I’d like if we could choose gender/have the non-binary option for the player character too.
3. PlayStation
My social media post https://twitter.com/depthvie/status/1675010920580513793 and handle is @depthvie on Twitter
1. Shadow Hearts (whole series preferably but would be happy with just the first even)
2. Accessibility feature to allow the Judgement ring speed to be controlled by the player so they have the option of increasing or decreasing the speed. Polished graphics. Easier blood management for the vampire characters.
3. PlayStation

The game I’d like to see remade is Final Fantasy VI!
Changes I’d like to see are voiced cut scenes and graphical improvements like in FF7 Remake.
I’d love to play it on PS5!

Brute Force, I played Brute Force about 20 years ago on the original Xbox. Upgrades like they did with Halo C.E. and Gears of War with new achievements, the visuals, audio and made for the Xbox Series S/X would be nice.

Game: “Mass Effect”
Console played on: Xbox 360
Changes to make a new version exciting: A reimagined version of “Mass Effect” with updated graphics, refined gameplay mechanics, and expanded character development would create an exciting new experience. Introducing more choices, consequences, and branching storylines would add depth and replayability to the game.
Console for the new version: PlayStation 5
ts: 1. what console you played it on; 2. what changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; and 3. on which console would you like to try this new version of the game.
I love knights of the old Republic which I played on PC the first time and would love updated graphics and more force lightening powers to make it more exciting and would love to play it on ps5.
I think should Red Dead Redemption be redone soon. I played it back on PS3. It would be really cool to see improved graphics on the PS5 or PC.
TIE Fighter
1. PC;
2. Multiplayer
3. PC
How about Xbox 360 ,Centipede. Good memories growing up and it would be cool to play with old friends that are now around the world. Great graphics!
1. Dynastry warriors: strike force on PSP
2. Deeper customization options for weapon and equipments.
3. Nintendo Switch. The flexibilty switching from from handheld and docked modes seems like an upgrade compares to PSP.
I have many great memories of playing the two Hamtaro games on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance! With the popularity of Animal Crossing and similar, I think it would be quite popular with fans of cozy, cute games. They could definitely update the graphics and add new stories if it were added to the Nintendo Switch. I could also see them adding a rhythm game component where we can tap along to music from the Hamtaro series.

1. Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time.
2. The movement when you’re running on the ground is a bit lacking. The combat, however, needs a complete re-haul; you spend the whole game fighting against the same 5 models; it’s dragged out, sometimes you finish, and whoops, there’s another wave, and sometimes you get stuck in a death loop. It’s the worst part of the original game.
3. I would love to play this on the PS5.
1.Donkey Kong – Nintendo64
2. nre speed bumps
3. Nintendo switch
1. I played Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce back then on PSP
2. Incorporating more strategic elements into the game, such as interactive environments, tactical team-based battles, and deeper customization options for weapons and armor, would add depth to the gameplay mechanics.
3. I would love to try this on the Nintendo Switch. The portable nature of the Switch, being able to take the game on the go and seamlessly transition between handheld and docked modes would provide flexibility and convenience, allowing players to enjoy the game wherever and whenever they choose. Additionally, the Switch’s online capabilities would facilitate multiplayer interactions, making it an ideal console for the cooperative gameplay elements of the game.
I would love to see Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 remade, they are modern classics, absolutely loved playing through them multiple times over on the Gamecube. However I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that they’ve aged super well. Having them remade with modern looking graphics (raytracing would be insane in some levels), as well as fixing of certain glitches and redoing of UI elements like in the Knuckles and Rouge levels (they somehow went backwards with those) and I reckon they’d still hold up today as well as we remember. Ideally they would release on all platforms, though I personally would be playing on PC.
Jet Grind Radio on the Dreamcast remade with the same soundtrack but online play on the Xbox Series X
Need for Speed Underground 2 was my favourite racing game to play on the Nintendo GameCube. I would like to see a remaster with more customization, and updated 4K visuals on Xbox Series X.
I played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 on the original Xbox. Updated graphics and new skaters would make it a lot better to play, it would be great on Xbox Series X
Space Quest – have a more detailed plot line, open world. Nitendo switch
Would love to see Donkey Kong (Nintendo 64 ) remake with better graphics and sound on the Nintendo Switch.
Metroid Prime … the only Metroid game I’ve played but I really enjoyed it on GameCube. Also, the only Metroid game played from first-person perspective. A second instalment as a first-person shooter specifically designed for the Switch would be solid!
Players could have the option to play with the Joy-cons and developers could add some very interesting interface mechanics to the game on Switch that weren’t available with the GameCube.
I fondly remember playing “Legend of Dragoon” on my old PlayStation 1. I believe this game deserves a modern remake. The storyline was epic, but the graphics could use an overhaul to bring it up to par with current standards. Additionally, incorporating voice acting would significantly enhance the immersive experience. Combat could also be improved by adding more strategic elements and making it less repetitive. I’d love to play this new version on the PlayStation 5, taking full advantage of its advanced hardware capabilities for a truly unforgettable gaming experience.
How cool would Mario Kart 64 be (that was played on the N64) by upgrading it with VR on a PS4 or compatible PS5?
Oh que de souvenir avec Rayman en 1995 sur ma PS1 ! je reverrais ce jeu mis au goût du jour avec de meilleurs graphiques sur une version playstation moderne 🙂

Console: I originally played “Shadow of the Colossus” on the PlayStation 2.
Changes: A new version of the game could benefit from enhanced graphics and improved controls. While the original game was visually stunning for its time, a remake with modern graphics and realistic visuals would bring the majestic colossi and the vast, desolate landscapes to life in an even more captivating way. Additionally, refining the controls to be more responsive and intuitive would make the gameplay experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Console of choice: I would love to see a new version of “Shadow of the Colossus” on the PlayStation 5.
Without a doubt the XBOX, SERIES X BUNDLE.

Chrono Trigger, which I originally played on the SNES is in need of a remake. I’d try and squeeze in some additional endings and bonus dungeons. I’d like to see that on the Playstation 5.
I think The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) should be remade. I have it on Wii U Virtual Console — but first played it on PC via emulation — and would like to see it on Nintendo Switch with the graphics & sounds of its sequel, A Link Between Worlds (3DS)*, and Link’s Awakening (Switch remake).
*Also would like ported to Switch, or added to Switch Online.

1) Played Starfox on Nintendo 64
2) HD Graphics and coop
3) Nintendo Switch OLED
It should be Centepide I played it on an old Atari console back in the day and I would love it on Playstation now, with an interactive component to play against others around the world.

Paper Mario on Nintendo 64, I would love to see a revamped version because I remember playing this as a kid. I never did beat Bowser so a new version would be a challenge for me still. I would love new exciting chapters and updated graphics. It would be excellent on Nintendo Switch so one can play and work on their game on the go.

I think that they should redo “The Overlord” series
1) XBox 360
2) Being able to change the Overlord Character to different races and genders would be fun(would like to see a female Overlord). Having the Overlords abilities and weapons more upgradeable would be great. Extending the storyline activities with additional side quest/missions, treasure hunting, also having the minions more upgradeable too. Throw a bit of mystery solving in.
3) Xbox Series X – I currently only have the Xbox 360 and PS2 but will still state should be the current Xbox system.
i played Bloodborne on the PS4 and i would redo it, by giving it state of the art graphics and making it 60 FPS would make an exciting version for the PS5
redo Duck Hunt from original Nintendo and play it on Playstation 2. I would improve it with better graphics, different scenes, and bonus rounds
