I find it amazing that Mario is still a stalwart companion for all Nintendo gamers. Everyone loves him. In fact, there are many articles and social threads where people argue about who is more popular: Mario or Mickey! Nintendo has a bevy of familiar characters that have a long history—and, that have become part of our own personal histories.

Monster Hunter Rise game for Nintendo Switch

I have many wonderful memories of my children playing Mario Kart with their grandparents for hours and hours. It was almost impossible to get a turn for myself!

And Nintendo keeps producing games to join the ranks of our favourites. The newest one will launch near the end of this month: Monster Hunter Rise. This action role playing game (RPG) will bring on those feelings of familiarity for veterans of the Monster Hunter series, but offer exciting new characters and surprises to thrill everyone. Note: as with all popular new releases, you should pre-order it since they all tend to sell out by launch day or soon thereafter.

Okay, so I know you can’t answer that question until you play the game, and you can’t play the game until you have it, and at the time this contest launched Monster Hunter Rise was still only available for pre-order. But humour me and think about it and speculate: do you think Monster Hunter Rise will become your new favourite Nintendo game. Then, enter this contest for a chance to win this great prize. The Best Buy Canada marketing team used this Nintendo Switch Lite in a display for a couple weeks a while back. They then asked me if I wanted to give it away to a blog reader. So, now you have a chance to win it!

  8. Favorite Nintendo game? Just like everyone else here that’s so hard to say. For me the favorites are the ones that created so many memories with my brothers as we grew up and now with my kids as they grow up.

    Games like Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, Star Fox, Donkey Kong Country, Mario 64, Mario Party 7, Zelda Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy and Mario Odyssey.

    In truth it’s almost impossible to go wrong with any first party title.

  9. My favourite Nintendo game would be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time. Played it for hours as a kid on my Nintendo 64 and again on the remastered Nintendo 3DS version.

  12. My favourite Nintendo game of all time is Pokemon Platinum! Gen IV is my favourite Pokemon generation ever, I just love so many Pokemons from that game.

  14. Wind Waker is my favourite game of all time, with Breath of the Wild coming in at a close second. Gotta love Zelda!

  15. My kids each have their own Lites, I need my own now so I can make my own Island on Animal Crossing. Plus some Breath of the Wild and THPS 1+2

  25. Previous played Animal Crossing New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS and put roughly 300+hours into it, and now with Animal Crossing New Horizons I’ve surpassed that with 550+ hours and still counting.

    Oh and I’m super excited for Monster Hunter Rise to come out, can’t wait!

  26. Favorite Nintendo game of all time would be Legend of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The nostalgia I get when I think about the early mornings I would wake up to next to the next chapter, warms me up. I have fond memories and I wish they would remaster it.

  28. Heh aging myself here, but the stuff on the N64 is what I remember the most fondly. Games like Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Conkers Bad Fur Day were great but my all time favourite is Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

  29. Wow. Favourite game of all time on Nintendo? Soooo many to choose from. Probably Tetris or Castlevania on the original GameBoy. Although RBI Baseball was a fav of my childhood as I remember renting an NES from the local video rental place along with the game and playing it with my father. He NEVER played video games except that game with me. Would love to form gaming memories with my twins.

    Favorite game made by Nintendo: toss up between The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid.

  35. This is an incredibly tough question to ask when there are so many, but I love and still play my Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda games, especially the Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. If you haven’t played these, you don’t have a childhood! Fun fact, I used to own and play an ocarina! I’ve wanted to get a Switch for a while now, but alas, I’ve had to keep spending to a minimum in the pandemic. This contest is an incredible opportunity! 🙂

  37. Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. The first video game I ever owned for the system, and immediately, it brought 11 year old me the biggest smile. It was a simple game with not a whole lot to do, but talking to villagers, fishing, selling random stuff to Nook, etc… it was all fun and relaxing. It was also a game I could play with my sister and Mom, as they enjoyed the villagers and their quirky personalities as much as I did.

  45. My favourite game of all time was Donkey Kong! I used to live in England and it never snowed so I used to live the blizzard level. Now I live in Canada and can’t wait for the snow to end!!! ‍♀️

  47. My favourite Nintendo game of all time would have to be Super Mario World for the SNES. Spent literally THOUSANDS of hours playing it as a child and I’m sure I still haven’t found all the secrets in the game! My SNES broke unfortunately so hoping to be able to play it again some time soon!

  50. All time favourite Nintendo game is definitely Pokemon…. Had the pikacu n64 growing up and every game from the gameboy-ds.
