This year we anticipate hearing about fantastic new games from Bethesda, Ubisoft, E3 and more for all of the gaming platforms including Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo. To celebrate Best Buy will be giving away amazing prize bundles. Here are some of the prizes you can win:
Xbox One and PlayStation consoles: You can’t play without the right tools and these consoles deliver the computing power you need for the most demanding games available. Already have a gaming console? Place it in your movie room to take advantage of the many other options these provide for all of your entertainment needs. Play games with your friends or relax with a streaming movie.
Some of the best games recently released: Many of these games were announced at E3 in previous years. Here are a few examples:
Last year there was a huge frenzy to learn more about Star Wars Battlefront.
The 2K booth presented the amazing new cooperative first person shooter Battleborn.
Ubisoft teased us with new game footage of the hotly anticipated Tom Clancy’s The Division.
These are just a few of the exciting games that we will be giving away in this contest.

What you can Win
There will be 6 prize bundles offered on 6 different days. Each bundle is worth approximately $1000 and will contain one gaming console (either and Xbox One or a PS4), a selection of games, and a $100 Gift Certificate from Best Buy (so you put toward the purchase of anything you want from Best Buy including one of the newest games announced at E3). Gaming has been an integral part of my life. At every turning point in my life I can attribute gaming to be a cornerstone of creating the person I am today. This journey started when I was younger. Being a first generation Canadian family, my older brother and I did not have a lot to play. Growing up was difficult, and often found it hard to cope with the challenges of living in a new country. My parents could not afford to buy us games. This made gaming very difficult but never deterred my brother and me. We often found ourselves at friends’ houses playing on their systems, and going to community centers. We were never able to own our own system for quite some time. It wasn’t until my brother surprised me with our first system (PS2), on Christmas Day, that we owned our first console. We didn’t have enough money to buy a memory card or an extra controller, so we ended up playing one at a time, and keeping the console running to ensure that our data was saved. I will never forget the day my older brother bought us our first system after saving his hard earned money. It was a bonding moment that I will never forget. It was since I was child that I’ve played videogames, in part that it will always be a connection to my brother. Gaming since then has always been a way for me to connect with people and make new friends. It would be awesome if we could win a console, so once again, my brother and I could play some games with each other.
The use of video games has become a huge part of my life since 2003. I was born in 2000 and started gaming once i turned three. My Dad had the original xbox and the ps2. My dad stopped playing video games with me when I was 9 because i always beat him and he got tired of losing. I think videos games can be used to relax after a long day of work, or a tough day at school, or as a way for the families to participate in something together. Many people view video games as just another form of entertainment, but I believe they are more.To me, video games can be used as a therapy to reduce the stress of everyday life. It is a way to focus one’s mind on the present and alleviate the stress that life can cause. By focusing on something besides stress, a person is able to relax. By applying those same observations to the act of playing a video game, one can see how playing a video game can be as effective as meditating. While playing a video game the mind is no longer focused on the stress of the day. The person playing the game is focused on the task of playing the game and alleviating the stress they may feel from everyday life. In conclusion, I would be ever so greatful to win any of these prizes. It would mean sooooo much to me and I really hope I am a winner! Thank you!
I have been gaming since i was about fifteen and i am 43 now i played quake for 11 years and now i am gaming with my son best mother and son time ever lol i would love to win so i can be upgraded like my son as he just got his new console so he has both systems now so now we cant play together he saved his money and he got the xbox one and ps4 i still have old ones so it would be awesome to win either system and this way i can play games with him ty for this awesome chance to win
without giving my age away I have been gaming since Pong.. I had older sisters and they were married by the time this game came out. One of my BIL had the game, it was the later version but we played over and over. However my real addiction was space invaders. Had several table top versions over the years. With gaming consoles taking over we had Intellivison and Atari both. I still have my intellivion, I logged thousands of hours playing that game. lol As a gamer it was always about getting the newest, then computer games became my thing…logging into local BBS boards and playing the single user games. Between those and Nintendo there was always a way to get my gaming fix. Handhelds came and went, then xbox and playstatoin became my new best friend. I took a break to have my kids but whenever we were up all hours I could usually be found soothing a child and playing games. I would love to win a new system. You know…so I don’t have to share, my son is getting to move out for University and already talking about taking one of the consoles…. I am having seperation anxiety! Thanks for the awesome chance to win. #Gamer
I have been gaming since the age of 3, when my uncle gifted my brother and I, a NES. I remember the days when my brother would try to carry me through Battletoads, surprise(early christmas) N64 present on launch, being blown away by Final Fantasy 7 cinematics, and GTA 3 third person open world.
As life moves forward, I can spend only so much time and money on game systems. Responsibilities take over and gone are the days of all weekend Halo 3 and COD multi-player with the high school buddies.
At this moment in life, I wait for my girlfriend to finish university so I can have extra cash again. One more year and I can be back in the next gen mix. This contest couldn’t come at a better time because Overwatch looks great!
I remember when I was young we used to occasionally rent a gaming system as my parents wouldn’t allow us to purchase one. It was the good old original Playstation that you occasionally had to run upside-down because otherwise it wouldn’t always load.
Once I was older and got a job I was able to afford my first gaming system, a PS2 – and then eventually a PS3. After a few years of having the PS3 I got the dreaded yellow light of death. Being a car person I decided to switch gears and get an XBOX 360 as a friend of mine had shown me the joys of Forza. I’ve been addicted to my xbox 360 and the wonderful racing games it offers.
Unfortunately now that the 360 is several years old, it seems to be on its last legs. Things don’t load properly anymore, it seems to need constant restarts, and the system itself sounds like an airplane taking off. Its time for a new system, but given now that I’m recently married, priorities have changed. I’m afraid that once my 360 dies that my gaming experience will die with it. I would really love to have a new system and keep playing games with friends!
Well, I’ve been gaming ever since I was 5. Pokemon Emerald was my first game, but I did play earlier games before that, I just did t own them. I need to win one of these prizes mainly because I want to sell them so that I can buy parts for a new desktop so that I can play more games at higher fps.
Winning a next gen gaming console would be awesome because gaming has always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy and other classic games with my brother and friends. We spent countless nights playing multiplayer games like Goldeneye, Halo, racing games etc.
All my friend have a next gen console but I promised my girlfriend that I would pay off my student loan before buying a new console so winning one would really help me out ! I really can’t wait to play some of the next gen games like Dark Soul 3, Uncharted and Overwatch which look incredible! I am also really looking forward to play the new South park game! The stick of truth is probably the funniest game I ever played! I also really hope that they will announce a new Bioshock game during the E3 !
Both the Xbox one and the Ps4 look to be really fun and they both have interesting exclusivity so winning either of them would be amazing !
I’ve been gaming since I was really young. I remember I didn’t have the first consoles and had to go over to my friend’s place or sometimes my relatives’ place to play the original Nintendo. Then the next generation came and we finally bought a Sega Genesis. I remember spending hours on this system playing the Sonic the Hedgehog games, straight through. Sonic Spinball became a popular game at our house. The competing system at the time was the Super Nintendo, and although we didn’t have that system, I still liked the Super Mario games and Super Mario Kart.
The next few generations, we decided to switch brands. We got the Sony Playstation because it was very popular and it was Sony’s first entrance into the gaming scene. The Playstation had so many good games that it would take so long to go through all of them. For the next generation we moved onto the Nintendo Gamecube, and that wasn’t very popular. Most recently, I owned an Xbox 360 and it was a big move up from the Gamecube. The Xbox 360 is the last system I owned and do not have any of the new generation systems, so I’m hoping I can win one here!
I have been gaming since the late 70s when our family first got an Atari. My brother had be doing programming on a huge clunky metal Commodore I believe, when he had to use the phone line to connect and I couldn’t call my friends. Those were back in the days when you hopped on your bike to see if someone was home, not using the phone so that wasn’t a big deal. It’s just funny to think about now. We loved to play Mario and Pong and Tetris and it was such a simple time. I don’t remember even fighting over the Atari, since we would be rooting for our siblings when they were getting their turns. It was like the pressure was off to get to the next level and just enjoying watching my brother get annihilated by the game was enough entertainment for me. I need a new gaming system because I have 2 beautiful nieces and a nephew between 3 and 10 and they love to visit with me and play active games on the Wii, so a better system would just make those moments all the more special. We like to have dinner, do bath time and get the gaming system out before bed time so that they can expend that last bit of pent up energy!
I’ve been gaming since 7. I started by playing Nintendo when my dad bought me an SNES to go along with Donky Kong Country. My younger brother and I would spend hours each day trying to beat the game. Since that fateful day, I have been lucky enough to enjoy many more games. My favourite games growing up were Mario Kart, super smash bros and the Legend of Zelda. As I have grown older, I have transitioned to playing games on different consoles such as the x-box, PS3, PC and more. My newest gaming console is the PS3 and I am looking for an upgrade. Gaming is a part of me. Even in University I would spend hours playing super smash bros. melee and brawl with my housemates. Playing one on one and perfecting techniques and counters in order to be the best. I would skip study sessions in order to play in the university tournaments. Looking back it may not have been the wisest decision but no regrets here. If I were to win in this contest, I would definitely like to try my hand at streaming the latest games online and to see how that would be received. Hopefully that will allow more people across to world to enjoy the world of video games.
I have been a gamer since I was a little boy. My first console was the original Nintendo I actually won from a school bingo night back in Grade 6 around 25 years ago or so…..and from there, I was “hooked” Gaming for me is not just about “playing” anymore as it used to be…..for me, it’s literally become a “healing” too and has become an incredible thing to help me get through the most difficult times in my life….especially recently. For me, it becomes an “escape” from my real life and transports me to places of wonder and beauty….or lets me experience amazing battles or race at high speeds along mountain roads in thunderstorms…….or in my most recent, enjoy a 25 hour long “movie experience” traveling the world as the famous “Nathan Drake” searching for the lost Pirate Treasure through the most jaw-dropping and realist ic landscapes I’ve ever seen in my gaming life. But WHY is it I play these games when here I am, 37 years old??…you’d think I would have grown out of all this by now, right? True, but if you knew my entire story you’d understand. In short though, 6 years ago, my life was shattered and literally turned upside down when I was injured at work and then because of that injury I have since become disabled and now basically “home-bound” and unable to walk or stand unless absolutely necessary because of the pain it causes me My life has been literally a “nightmare” and 6 years later my doctors still haven’t figured out what’s wrong with me “inside” to even begin to fix me Until we can, my days are sadly stuck indoors and almost “laying down” on the couch to keep my pain as little as possible meaning I’m basically watching TV all day and into the night. My life has become extremely lonely and my thoughts are extremely depressing as well. And this is where my “Gaming” life has come to save me in many ways. By playing these games, sometimes for 5 or 6 hours at a time many days…….I become “mentally” involved in my games for the most part………and because of that, I am able to basically forget the horrible life I am dealing with in “Real Life” and enjoy all the FUN and Excitement of the Fantasy Worlds……….whether they are fully realistic or completely “silly”, or just an “arcade” style, etc. ANYTHING I play is just a wonderful “Escape” for me to help me take my thoughts away from my emotionally difficult and very stressful and painful life that I’m dealing with 24 hours a day outside of the gaming worlds. So, this is just a small summary as to “why” gaming is so important to me…….so thank you so much for this chance to win some incredible prizes from Best Buy’s Road to E3 contest Win or lose, I truly appreciate the opportunity to enter Good luck to everyone and I wish you all the best health and good times ahead with your gaming. Thank you & Take Care, Scott
Where do I start? First gaming console ever that I had was an Atari. I remember faintly but it was my brother playing this racing game and I had turned it off by accident, you know little brothers can be a pain haha. Next console was the original big grey Gameboy! Wow was that a game changer, first game I played was Tetris and I didn’t understand it until I got a bit older and saw my mom playing it. I will always remember she did the max levels and at the end was the rocket launching into space. We then got a Nintendo Entertainment system and duck hunt was my favorite game to play I was mesmerize by how cool it was that a gun and shooting birds it was out of this world. We got a bit older and our dad surprised us with a Super Nintendo System, I think this actually just made us hooked on games. From all the Street Fighter games to Mortal Kombat. I think the best game I ever played on the SNES system was Maximum Carnage.. Growing up even going to friends and families houses it was always surrounded by video games, weather it be with the Sega Genesis, to the original Sony Playstation. Once we got older we always wanted to the new system and newest games to brag about to friends that we played. We even got a Modchip installed into our PS1 thats how hardcore gamers we were. We always brang our gaming consoles to friends houses even if they didnt have the game, it was a great way to bond.
We have gotten every console since Xbox and Sony have released consoles as well as Nintendo, we are just waiting for the right time to get the PS4 and XboxOne, growing up getting married you kind of try to have time for the consoles and would love to show our kids to the world of console gaming instead of their handheld devices.
Thanks Best Buy!!
Hello my name is Mark and ever since I was little I was a gamer, playing my father’s old Colecovision are some of my earliest memories.
What make’s gaming so special to me is that it helped me get through some tough periods in life, my father wasn’t the best man but I’ll always remember the good memories we had together. We would play all day sometimes, and slowly upgraded to NES and eventually a SNES.
If I’m ever feeling blue, I always hook up my Colecovision/NES/SNES and start gaming away, but now as I stare at my red-ringed Xbox360, I know now that it’s time for an upgrade. I can’t just keep going back to the old systems!
And then I stumbled across this amazing contest! Thank you!
I’ve been gaming since the 90s. I started by playing Atari, Nintendo and Sega. My favourite games were and still are Pong, Super Mario and Sonic. I also enjoy playing sports games like FIFA and NHL. My newest gaming console is the original Wii and I beat the first Super Mario Galaxy on it and enjoy playing the sports games on it like the various Mario and Sonic Olympic games and Wii Sports. I also enjoy playing Mario Go Kart with my family on my Wii. Gaming is something I’ve been doing since a little kid. I also started by playing computer games like another classic by the name of Lemmings. I need a new gaming console because I don’t have one of the newest consoles for any of the makers and would enjoy broadening my gaming experience and adding to my classic consoles. I also would like to try out the new sports games that are coming out with all of the new technology and the virtual gaming being developed. Winning a new console would help me especially with the prices they sell for and would allow me to buy games that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
I have been gaming since my uncle first brought home a Nintendo Entertainment System. This was way back in 93 and my uncle had upgraded to a Super Nintendo. I was hooked from the very beginning. I played every game I could get my hands on from punch-out to duck hunt.
Over the years I went on to own many gaming consoles while also gaming on PC whenever I got a chance. I have been fortunate to pick up a lot of old consoles from garage sales and now own a sega genesis, super nintendo, nintendo 64, playstation, playstation 2, nintendo and a PS3. I also play a lot of games on my PC but my computer is getting a little long in the tooth. Most of the components are over 5 years old and to be honest I am going to need to do a full rebuild soon if I want to play current generation AAA titles.
To makes matters worse I find myself without a current generation system or a previous generation system for my living room. My xbox 360 finally died and when my bother moved out he took our PS3. This leaves me without much to game on other that when I am in a retro mood. It’s time for upgrade and either a PS4 or Xbox one would fit perfectly.
d
have been gaming for a long time, i started 8 years old and i am 36 now. My parents would put my in front of the tv and i would play for hours. I play pretty much all types of games.
I would love a new system as my old systems now are on their last legs. I would really want to try out PS VR this christmas and see if the hype is all what it seems to be. I remember playing virtual boy and it was great. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be.
I would be happy with either system bundle, thanks Bestbuy!
I need to win. Please help a true gamer win. I been playing since back in the original Nintendo Famicom days!
I have been gaming as long as I can remember. My family had pretty much every version of Intellivision and almost the entire game library for the system, and I spent a lot of time gaming on friends C64, Atari, Nintendo, Playstation, X-Box and every subsequent gaming system. My real gaming passion switched from consoles to computer gaming in my teens and 20’s, but currently all I have in my house is an original Nintendo Wii. My kids are getting older, and while the Wii games have been great to introduce them to the world of gaming – it is time for them to experience true console gaming. Winning this contest would start that new chapter in their lives, and mine, as I build and share those memories with my kids.
Our gaming team just did the first big prize giveaway for this contest and announced it on Twitter:
There will be many more prizes so keep sharing with your friends so they too can enter either on Twitter or on the blog. All of the entries from Twitter and from the comments on the blog get combined just before a draw so everyone has an equal chance of winning.
I’ve been gaming as a child since the 80’s. My first system was Coleco Vision and I spent hours playing Q-bert, and Rocky Super Action Boxing and Donkey Kong. My favourite arcade game of the era was Galaga, (I’m really showing my age here!) I had to wait patiently for a Nintendo system as my parents didn’t want to buy another gaming system and they were expensive at the time. I was one of the last of my friends to get the Nintendo system but once I did get it I got addicted to Zelda and Super Mario Brothers of course. My favourite game of all time came a few years later with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I also really loved the 007 GoldenEye, Donkey Kong and Super Mario games of the 90’s as well. It wasn’t until the 2009 where I finally got a Playstation 3 but that has been my last system purchase and it’s time for an upgrade! My love of gaming continues all these years later. I most enjoy adventure games and some of my favourites of my adult years are Red Dead Redemption, the Uncharted Series, and the Zelda series to name just a few. I’d love to win to update my collection and get my kids into playing some games with me.
I’ve been gaming since I was pretty young. Our family’s first gaming console was an Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 was released during the year I was born, but It must have been out for a few years before my Dad decided to buy us one, because I distinctly remember him bringing it home, our first few days playing it, and the many different cartridge games he would bring home from various department stores over the years.
I started my glorious road to gaming at the age of 5 when I received a birthday present containing the first edition of the PlayStation back in 1998 along with the recently released racing game Gran Turismo. From there my love for gaming evolved from racing games to adventure games; Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, etc. What was even more satisfying than owning my own PlayStation was that there were other consoles owned by my family members like the super Nintendo then eventually the n64, where I met Mario and Pikachu; don’t even get me started on Pokémon and my Yellow Gameboy Colour with the limited edition (at the time) Pokémon Yellow. As the years passed the consoles advanced into the next generation; PS2, GameCube, Xbox, and what did I do? Begged my parents and family members of course! Now I was sure I was a gamer, to own the Big 3 Consoles? I mean come on that’s obvious. And the story was the same with the following generation with the PS3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360. Now this is where my chapter remains unfinished, I am now 22 years old and can no longer beg my parents or family members (haha) I got to find my own way to continue the only life I’ve really known, the gamer life. This contest is an amazing opportunity to help me accomplish this, and with that I hope I win! Shout out to BestBuy!
– Jesse the Gamer
I’ve gamed since I was five or so years old, I was born in 1996 I started out by watching my brothers play the new Nintendo 64 we got for Christmas it was the best thing I’ve ever seen they would take turns with each other always skipping over me because I was the youngest I hated it but I enjoyed watching either way, anyways fast forward to our bedtime everyone went to bed except me I stayed up because I was determined to get my first try at Mario 64 so I snuck into the living room turned on the T.V. and the Nintendo muted the T.V. and started the game about ten minutes in mom gets out of bed to get a glass of water catches me sends me back to bed, and that was the first time i’ve ever played a video game fast forward 15 years i’ve got a PS3 been playing it since it got released haven’t really had the money to get one of the new consoles so i’ve just been playing on my PS3 well my friends have moved on to the newer systems which I can’t play because I can’t afford it but hopefully I can win it if not awesome for the other winners and I hope you enjoy it every bit.
I am not a Gamer myself but our son has playstation one,Two,and Three ..He has Games from all the Play station systems,One Two and Three some of his particular faves are as follows Crash Bash ,Spyro he used to spend hrs playing this and became a real expert at this Game….. He is also fascinated By Bioshock and has Discs one and two , I like the graphics in this Game and the music to.
He also loves Guitar Hereo and has at least 3 Guitars, he loves the retro games to do with this series he even tried to teach me once, without much sucess ! But I found this to be a good Mother,Son Bonding experience !!!!! He also likes the entire series of Call of Duty he has got all the Discs and has bought More add on parts to externd the game so he can play online with his friends no matter where ever they are.
I would really love to win this system for him,as he has worked so hard in his first year at college and reallly improved his marks so he can get into his next course which he will begin in September.
I would love to see his expression on his face when I gave him the playstation 4 and the games to go with it…..Best Bye is such a great store and has a good selection of systems and Discs…. When I think of the hrs of enjoyment he has had out of the playstation system it has been a $ well spent thanks for the chance to entr this contest
It started by going to Goodwill stores with my grand parents in the 90’s. They went to look for deals for their children (mostly fabric for clothes and sometimes furniture) but one of my earliest memories is finding and buying a video game system called Atari. It was brand new but without the box, a sticker was still on the logo. My brother was with us and we brought it home and one of the first games we played was pong. Now I have two brothers and cousins that now have current systems (more have Xbox One) that live in different countries and this is my chance to play with them and hopefully create new memories whether it’s by playing video games online or through skype if it’s still available.
all my life I’ve been a gamer. this gies back the days of atari and nintendo. My first console was an atari and I remember playing battleship on there for ages. Who doesn’t remember pitfall. Well I played so much that after that consol my father vowed to never buy me another one! I guess he had is reasons that I understand now, I would have lived in my basement. My teenage years where filled with going over to friends housed to play all the games I could get my hands on. Many a sleep over never ended up wihout any sleep. But what the heck we where young and it was only school! The first console I ever bought was an xbox. And I loved it. I got it after graduating university when I could afford it. Got all the games I could and tried to make up for lost time. And then I got married and then I had kids. My buddies and I would get together now and then. I even bot an xbox 360 so that we could play halo together on it when they came over. We still play halo 3 religiously when we get the chance. it’s the best one! But these days I want to try the new stuff there are so many great games out there. the kids are a little older and I have a little time to play. I need a new console to get my fix again!
I’ve been a gamer since the days of Atari! When I got my first Super Nintendo, I was completely hooked. Donkey Kong Country 2 & 3 kept me busy for hours and hours, and I still have that console and those games and I STILL play them. In my teen years I was heavily into PC gaming, shooters were my specialty, Half Life being one of my favourite games ever (still waiting for HL3 Helloooooo VALVE!) Wolfenstien and Postal were among some of my favourites of the time as well as Hitman – I just played the newer one on PC and I STILL love that series. My favourite series of ALL time remains Grand Theft Auto. When I got my PSP the first games I bought were Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories. Of course how can I forget Midnight Club! Then came my Wii days were Mario Galaxy and Just Dance were king! I will forever love Mario Galaxy and I still have my Wii and still play my favourite games today. My Xbox 360 is the most current console that I have. I am dreading the red ring of death, I know it’s coming very soon! I am itching to get my hands on Xbox One so I can play all the new games. You would make my dreams come true if I won, Best Buy! Thanks so much!
I have been gaming for quite a while. I started with the original Nintendo Entertainment System. I got into it right around the time that Super Mario Bros. 3 was being released. I remember having to find friends with a Nintendo that I could visit and together we would try our hardest to save the princess! I was a big fan of that game, and I learned to appreciate a wider range of games, as well. I loved the sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game (though the original was a bit hard). I also loved the original Legend of Zelda and Castlevania. All good games. When the time game to step it up to the Super Nintendo, I was on board. I managed to play around with the display console at a department store for a while, but otherwise had to wait to get my own. Super Mario World was a triumph, of course, but the new Zelda game was also brilliant. As new consoles appeared, I was on board. The N64 was a real treat. Those 3D graphics were a huge jump forward and completely changed my expectations of a video game. The GameCube was pretty good, but I switched to PlayStation pretty quick.
wicked contest! #RoadtoE3 I have been gaming since I was probably 10 years old. Started with NHL Hockey for the sega genisis and I have now graduated to a PS3 and the latest hockey game. I had a 360 and played so many games but my all time favourites are the sports game and since they introducted online play, I could not have enough! I did have some issues trying to get off the system because you get so engrosed into it that you cannot let it go but with will power I managed but only to come back to it shortly after but at least I knew to let go for a second. My biggest obstacle these days is losing the battery charge on the controller and having to wait until it recharges. Sucks when it happens when you are playing your favourite games but learn to paln before time. Now I am getting my son involved but teachign him control. Now if could only shut off the system remotely when I am not home! I love playing games with him but he has not learned how to lose gracefully yet but its a work in progress. My daughter loves to play just dance as she is more into the arts but eventually we will get her playing the sport games with us as well as they are more fun to do and play together these days
I would be lying if I said I started to walk before I started to game. My first experience with a gaming console was back in 88’ with the Nintendo NES and what a joy that was. From Super Mario Bro’s 1/2/3 to Chip and Dale, Ice Hockey & of course Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the possibilities to get lost in a game for hours were endless. Gaming has played an integral part of my life and has helped shaped the person I am today. Over time, video games have become much more advanced and the ability to immerse yourself in these worlds is just incredible.
The reason why I really need a new gaming console is to be able to continue to game with my friends and family members who have already jumped on the next gen train as well as experience the best gaming experience these consoles have to offer. From Overwatch, Mirrors Edge, NHL & NBA the next gen experience is just so much greater than what we’ve ever seen before.
That being said, this E3 is going to be one of the most exciting ones to date with all that is to be announced! #RoadToE3
Okay listen up young folk!
I have been gaming since I was about 8 years old and that was on a Magnavox Odyssey 2, a Pac Man clone called KC Munchkin. I then upped my game and started hitting up the arcades…and I was there A LOT. All my friends knew where to find me, and unfortunately so did my Father when I was supposed to be at home. He would wade through the cigarette smoke (early 80’s) and pull me out….and there goes my high score. This part I will finish in tomrrow’s entry….
Why do I need a new console, because I have 4 kids, 3 boys and I need to show them WHO IS BOSS! Dad. Dad pays the bills, feeds them, puts clothes on their back, and gives them shelter. And they still don’t know who the digital/virtual boss is, well it’s me and I need your help to prove it to them
I’ve been a gamer for a good 30 years and I remember as a young kid opening my Christmas present of an Nintendo entertainment system with the ROB robot. Didn’t use ROB much but I sure enjoyed my NES. Metroid, Super Mario Bros 3 and Legend of Zelda were my favorites on that system. There was no turning back after that. When Street Fighter 2 came out for the Super Nintendo, my friends and played that for hours on end by doing tournaments. Great game! I still loved Nintendo but bought a Sony playstation over a Nintendo 64 back in the late nineties. I remember seeing Wipeout for the first time and being floored by its graphics. Same with Gran Turismo, couldn’t have enough of that game with hundreds of cars you can play with.
I’ve gotten a new system with each new generation and I have a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 at the moment which I both love. This industry has given me tons of hours of entertainment but now’s the time to hopefully win a new console since some friends have an Xbox one and are constantly talking about the awesome graphics and great games, especially Overwatch which I hear is terrific.
I have been gaming for over 20 years now. It started when my dad won a brand new Game Boy with a copy of F-1 Race and Tetris. He got bored of it after a month and gave it to me and ever since then I have been hooked on gaming. I would spend hours playing it, staying up late at night with a flash light. With my Game Boy I explored different worlds in my home from the Mushroom Kingdom to Hyrule and loved every second of it.
My favourite game for the Game Boy had to of been Pokemon Red and Blue. Every kid growing up in the 90s played or knew of pokemon. Pokemon was one of the first game that I remember spending days and nights obsessing over. I enjoyed every moment of it from collecting all 8 badges, beating the Elite Four, catching Mewtwo (my favourite pokemon), and the Missingno glitch.
I’ve been PC gaming the most part of this gaming console generation and I think a chance to win a new gaming console would be a perfect way of getting back into console gaming. Winning either a Xbox One or Playstation 4 would be a great addition to my gaming collection and will help be continue enjoying what I love.
I recieved my first console on Christmas in 1996. A SNES! I was young so I wasn’t able to appreciate the gift as much as I should have, but upon playing it for the first time I realised that my parents just bought me the best gift in the world. I used to stay up all night and play games with my dad and it was an amazing bonding experience for both of us. It was always a good time when I got to play it with my dad. With my fathers passing at a young age, gaming was always a way for me to be able to get that connection with him again. I’m an adult now with my own family and I want a console to be able to get that feeling back and be able to have that bonding time with my own child. It would also give me a good way to release the built up stresses from work and bills and give me a few hours where my problems don’t seem so big. But in a major picture, gaming is a way that people all around the world can connect and play together. It brings so much laughter and fun to households everywhere and I’d like to be able to experience that again.
So I have been gaming since I’ve had to blow in cartridges to get them to play. I’m still a huge Tetris and Sonic the Hedgehog fan..just to show my age!
I have yet to beat Echo the Dolphin and I think I’ll take that one to my grave. What in the he’ll arr you supposed to do in that game! I remember staying up so late to beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and so many Mario marathons. I still love double dragon and I can remember playing it at the arcade with my sister!
Now that I have two little gamers of my own, I’ve learned what a crafting table is although I may never know what they’re fascination with that game is. I have been known to play a mean game of Call of Duty and now we are really into Star Wars Battlefield.
I could really use this new system to maybe get an actual time to play! The kids are constantly on the PS4 so in reality, I’d get to play that because they would run to the new console so fast!
I like video games now as a release from the day. It’s a nice stress relief and a way for me to unwind after work. Games have been a huge part of growing up and I have a lot of great memories.
Hey I am Classikh and I have been gaming ever since the SNES. Playing games Mortal Kombat at my cousins house since I was only around 4 or 5 years old and when my parents let me have my own game system it was an N64. Until years later when the sega genesis came out, thought I’d still go to my cousins every chance I could get just to play Super mario world on their snes. So from the very start I was never beholden to any one system and would play on whatever I could get my hands on.
Games are my bread, my butter and my jam but by while I grew up to be a lifelong gamer my cousins did not. I can’t go over to their house anymore to play the other system I don’t have so I started to buy them myself. The reason I need a new gaming consol is because by myself I simply can’t afford to get every system that’s out anymore which means I’m missing out on some amazing exclusives that I wouldn’t be able to ever try otherwise.
I actually bought all my consoles from BestBuy too.
So I’ve been gaming since the old cassette tape Vic-20 days. I remember playing a game called Gorf, where you attempt to land a spaceship on a planet’s surface. I want a new console so I can game with my brother in a different city. I moved away 5 years ago to start a family and miss him dearly. We both grew up laughing. Joking and playing games together. Over Nes, all the way up to Xbox 360, we chatted and talked about our lives all the while gaming. Now he’s upgraded his system and I can’t afford to, because clothes, food come first for my stepkids. I want to reconnect.
I’ve been gaming all my life, I started when I was younger, way back in the day when I remember blowing into cartridges, like Kirby and the old Mario games. It was my favourite hobby when I was a kid and I spent so many hours gaming. My favourite game ever is Mario 64 (the old version) because it blew my mind as a kid and got me addicted to gaming. I absolutely need to win this prize because I’m still using my glitchy ps3 and broken down controlers and being able to upgrade would mean the world to me. Me and my brother love playing sports games together and usually play older ones, so being able to newest NBA game on the newest console would make us so happy. We both use gaming as a way to relieve stress after a long day and this would help make that even more effective.
I hope to be lucky enough to win and thank you for consideration and an awesome contest!
I was born in the early 90s and I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember. Whether it be Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis or Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, I always loved diving into the colourful and interactive worlds when playing my favourite video games. Many of my cherished childhood memories are of me playing on these systems, and many others like the Nintedo 64 and the Sony Playstation, with my friends and family, The only problem was that these consoles, along with newer consoles like the Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Xbox One, all belonged to my older brother. I have never been able to call a console “my console”. It has always been his console. His Playstation. His Gamecube. His Xbox. I always wanted to be able to call a video game system my own, but I have never had the chance. It would be so amazing to finally fulfill my childhood dream of being able to invite friends over, turn on my system, and just have fun. I won’t have to worry about asking for permission or worrying if he wants to use the system. I could finally have a console that is mine.
I’ve been a huge gamer since I was about 4 years old. It all started when I was visiting my aunt’s house and was playing duck hunt on her old NES. This eventually evolved into playing games like Super Mario 64 and Golden Eye on my Nintendo 64 and always heading down to the local Rogers to rent games every week. Ever since that point I have been gaming and after playing that I convinced my dad to buy me my own console and from there things kept evolving. I just kept on trying to keep up with all the latest and greatest gaming systems up until a few years ago when the last purchase I made was for an XBOX 360. Things got a little tight money wise around the house and have been trying to cut back on some expenses around the house and unfortunately video games fell into that category. I would love to own a PS4 or Xbox one, in fact I’ve played both of them at one of my friend’s houses, but still don’t have the money right now to afford to get a new consule to play. Honestly I always found playing video games a huge pick me up, if it was after a **bleep**ty day at school or work, I could just dive into a video game to help make me feel better and just to keep my mind off of what was bothering me.
Thank you for your time and consideration in selecting a winner and good luck to the rest of you who enter!!
I started gaming when I received my first Gameboy portable device. I was so obsessed in completing all my games from Mario to Donkey Kong. In high school, I saved up enough money to buy me first game console and started playing Need for Speed, Carmen San Diego and sports games with my friends. Then I started playing RPG games on the computer and would go online with friends creating worlds and battling each other. I somewhat forgot about gaming when I got married and had a family but when the kids were growing we have to purchase game console to give variety to our family game nights. Now I play with my kids on our XBOX Kinect, playing animal adventure, tennis, gold and dance revolution. We need a new game console to upgrade our old one. This would also keep us with new technology and new games that is more interactive, advance and just fun to play with. It would be nice to win one so I can be that “cool” gamer mom who can play with my kids and keep up with them and even beat them on the games that their generation is playing now which is way advance to what I was playing back in my days.
I first started gaming in 1995 when I was 5. We had an SNES in our basement and I still remember the excitement I had playing Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country with my mother and sisters. At every given the opportunity I would play games like Sonic at my uncle’s house or Mario games with my cousins during family gatherings and visits. It was a great way for my extended family to spend time together, despite our differences in age. My mother bought a Nintendo 64 when it came out and my family had a great time competing against each other playing Diddy Kong Racing. I haven’t stopped gaming since!
In recent years, one of my favourite ways to keep in touch with my family and friends has been to play games together. I’d love to have a new gaming console, because I haven’t been able to afford the latest consoles other than the Wii U and it isn’t ideal to play with other people. A new PS4 or Xbox One would give me the opportunity to experience different types of games that I haven’t played before and to spend more time playing games together with my family and friends.
I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember . . or even can’t remember, because come to think of it, I don’t remember the first time I picked up a controller or what the first game I ever played was. My earliest gaming memory was the Atari 2600 so it was probably something on that. Maybe Ms. Pac-Man? Anyway, I do vividly remember my next console, which was a major upgrade in the form of the NES. My cousin actually got it first and after playing on it for a few hours, I knew I had to get my hands on my own, and one day, dad came home with one. I think it was close to Christmas, but he didn’t even bother wrapping it . . he just went, “Here you go.” like it was groceries. In actuality, it was really sparkly super fun groceries that lasted me years of sparkly super fun. Since then, I’ve gone through the Gameboy, SuperNES, Playstation, GameCube, and then took a really long break from gaming to let my wallet recover, until I recently discovered free on-line gaming. Lately, I play a lot of Tetris Friends, Team Fortress and Crossy Road, but my computer’s really too slow to play anything else. So it would be awesome to win one of these prizes and catch up to some of the latest and greatest!
I’ve always been gaming since I can remember. I started off with an old DOS machine, black and yellow screen. Nothing could beat the thrill of booting up that old PC and starting up Tic-Tac-Toe and Chess. Something about being on the computer just made those games so much more fun. Eventually I moved onto greater gaming experiences. My first console gaming was with the amazing Super Nintendo. Playing with my cousin, we would take turns playing the classics like Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Land. The controller felt so good in my hands and the button were so smooth. Aside from Mario, there was also the Disney classic, Aladdin. The great music and fluid animation still are clear in my mind today. Felt like I was playing a cartoon! Such great memories from that system.
I dreamt of the day of getting my own console. Imagine my surprise on Christmas Day when I opened up a large box to find a N64! Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye. Life was good. Over the years, I got a PS2, GameCube and then a PS3. Since my PS3, life just has been too busy, but I miss those gaming years every day. A new console would bring me back up to speed and to enjoy immersing myself in new worlds!
New Day, so Part 2.
In Grade 5 I became part of a group that was introduced to computer programming, and what was the first thing we wrote in BASIC? A video game, of course.
In grade 6 I had to write a speech for public speaking, and I was very nervous so I decided to write about my passion…video games! The opening line of the speech started with “Quarters, quarters, quarters…I need more quarters”. I went on to speak to the merits of playing video games, keeping kids of the streets, building hand eye coordination and of course developing a love for computers. Well, I came in 2nd, but this just goes to speak to how much I love games. I never hurt anyone playing them, except virtually through headshots.
Now, my kids need to help develop their hand eye coordination, be safely locked away somewhere in my home (remember, I have 4 so who knows where they are) and maybe, just maybe they will follow in Daddy’s footsteps with my IT career?
Who knows? But perhaps you can help me Best Buy! Do the right thing, help a Dad out, the kids may think I’m cool again?
#RoadToE3
I have not been a gamer for too long but I had to go on bedrest during my pregnancy due to some worrisome complications and it was suggested to me that gaming is a great way to pass the time. It was right! It was a great distraction that helped me not to worry on a daily basis. I was not able to get up out of bed other than to use the washroom and I was permitted to shower for 5 minutes, every second day. I read books and watched movies but once I was bitten by the gaming bug, I didn’t and I haven’t stopped gaming. For me, it was a lifesaver during a time of great anxiety. My daughter was born happy and healthy and is now a beautiful, smart 2 year old.
A new console for our family would be excellent because after being on maternity leave for a year, our funds were seriously depleted and only now are we slowly starting to build it back up. There’s no way we’d be able to buy a new console for a while… but it’s definitely on our wish list!
Good luck to all the entrants on this wonderful contest J
I’ve been gaming since I was probably about 5 years old, although, it would be a real dream to be able to win a console. When I was young, I was never allowed to own a gaming system – my parents sisn’t like the idea of me spending hours upon hours playing video games. Unfortunately for them, they never closed the loophole of PC gaming, which was the thing that basically sustained me throughout my childhood.
In my house, it was thought (by my parents) that the PC was always primarily a tool for homework. While this was somewhat true, I quickly learned – and subsequently learned with each new PC – the fastest way to switch from a gaming window to a word processing window with just a couple of quick keystrokes, just in case I heard my parents footsteps coming downstairs towards the computer room.
I have so many fond memories of PC gaming, but through the magic of going over to visit friends, I also became hooked on console gaming as well. These days, I’m particularly fond of sports and driving games, and I would love to experience those kinds of games with the full power of a modern console.
I have been gaming since I was really young. I remember I did not have the first consoles and had to go over to my friend’s place or sometimes my relatives’ place to play the original Nintendo.
The Xbox 360 is the last system I owned and do not have any of the new generation systems, so I am hoping I can win one here!
I’ve been a gamer since a kid. I remember starting out with those old school Mattel handheld football games where you played as led dots. Then the consoles started to appear and was playing Intelivision at my cousins place (can you say Burger Time!!!) and the Atari 2600 at my grandparent’s house. My first console was the Sega Master system. Many friend’s had the Nintendo consoles but for whatever reason, I was a “sega kid” with the master system, genesis and game gear. I moved to some PC gaming in University with Doom. Playing 1 versus 1 using a serial cable with friends became a way of life for those 4 years at Uni. Next up was Star Craft and the addiction took over to where I would play until 5 am and still make it to class.
For whatever reason, I took a fairly long break from gaming with full time work and then just doing other things. Gears of War on the Xbox 360 brought me back. I tried it out for the first time at my cousin’s place and I said “this is the best game I’ve ever played”. The next day I bought the 360 and eventually getting a PS3 as well. All except for Nintendo of course (see my childhood)
It’s been a bit harder now to play as much with work, house, wife and other “grown up” responsibilities but would love to get back into “Next gen” gaming. Good luck to everyone in this contest!
