  1. Gaming was the start of my career. I work in tech now and playing games immersed me into the world of computers. I remember when my dad bough our first computer. I was amazed at what it could do. With little memory and everything having to fit on a floppy disk. it was primitive. I even opened it up to get inside and enhance so that I could play bigger and better games. And then consoles came to be. My first one was an atari. I was in love with that thing. Tank and pitfall where my favorites and I would play them forever. So much that my father refused to buy me another console after that because I would spent to much time on it. So it came to be I lives through the consoles of my friends till I bought my own after university. It was an xbox and I loved it. My girlfriends didn’t haha! But such is life. I upgraded to a 360 before I had kids and the boys come over now and then to play halo. It’s great. But now with other priorities I just can’t afford to get the Xbox one. Although I’m dying to get in there and try out all the awesome games it has to offer.

  2. I’ve been gaming since I was pretty young. Our family’s first gaming console was an Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 was released during the year I was born, but It must have been out for a few years before my Dad decided to buy us one, because I distinctly remember him bringing it home, our first few days playing it, and the many different cartridge games he would bring home from various department stores over the years.

Our family gaming progressed to a Commodore 64 – so many summer days my younger Brother and I spent playing games on the Commodore 64! That was the first system I learned programming on. That progressed to my Dad getting us an IBM-compatible PC.

The first gaming console that I bought brand-new with 100% of my own money was a PS2. Although I probably couldn’t afford it, I had just gotten my first “real” job, and the large increase in paycheck size from any previous job I’d had made it a must-have purchase. Nowadays I still occasionally play games on our PS3 or XBox 360, but having a current-gen system would definitely get me back to playing games on a regular basis. E3 can’t arrive soon enough!
  3. I’ve been gaming since the 90s. I started by playing Atari, Nintendo and Sega. My favourite games were and still are Pong, Super Mario and Sonic. I also enjoy playing sports games like FIFA and NHL. My newest gaming console is the original Wii and I beat the first Super Mario Galaxy on it and enjoy playing the sports games on it like the various Mario and Sonic Olympic games and Wii Sports. I also enjoy playing Mario Go Kart with my family on my Wii. Gaming is something I’ve been doing since a little kid. I also started by playing computer games like another classic by the name of Lemmings. I need a new gaming console because I don’t have one of the newest consoles for any of the makers and would enjoy broadening my gaming experience and adding to my classic consoles. I also would like to try out the new sports games that are coming out with all of the new technology and the virtual gaming being developed. Winning a new console would help me especially with the prices they sell for and would allow me to buy games that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.

  4. I received my first gaming system for Christmas when I was five years old so I have been gaming for more than fifteen years now.  At that young age, I had never used a gaming system before but really wanted to get one.  My parents didn’t know how to operate the system and couldn’t figure out how to enter Donkey Kong world. So we had to get a family friend to come over and show us how to use it. It was a Nintendo 64 and I quickly became addicted to Donkey Kong. My mom even played with me and she became hooked as well.  As I got older, I eventually moved on to a PlayStation 3, then to an Xbox and an Xbox 360. I still have all of these systems and a load of games stored in my basement. Once in a while my friends and I like to play the old Nintendo 64 just for a laugh. But now after playing Xbox 360 for over three years, I need a new gaming system because it is time to upgrade to an Xbox One. I would really love to play Call of Duty Black Ops on an Xbox One.

  5. If I remember right I think I was four or five years old when my dad took me in the winter to a place where you could fish for rainbow trout and while there there was an old super Nintendo or NES that I played on for abit. When I was older I went to an arcade where there was a marvel vs Capcom game that I played alot, until I moved and ended up hanging out at the mall near my apartment, where I got to go to **competitor** and play demos all the time. About half a year later I ended up getting an old PlayStation one that my dad bought me for Easter. The only game I had was this Tonka spacestation game until Christmas when I got my first real game. Legend of dragoon, which I still have today. It took me probably four years to beat it but when I did I felt amazing. It was and still is one of my favourites, partly because of Shana being my first big game character crush. During the time it took me to beat it I picked up a Pokémon game called fire red and played with my stepbrother all the time. We played on his GameCube and his Nintendo 64 all the time, having a blast one Pokémon or super smash bros. When I was in grade eight I got final fantasy ix and instantly fell in love with it. I haven’t beaten it yet but wish I could, ( that’ll be later). When I got into highschool I got an Xbox original for Christmas with halo. Now this was when the 360 was out so it wasn’t new.  I played that Xbox so much, my parents gave me **bleep** for playing it  too much all the time. The year after I graduated highschool I bought myself the only  game system I’ve ever bought, the Xbox 360 which I still play today. I started with getting halo 3, halo reach, and gears 2 and since then have played close to 50 games and spent more than a half of a year playing in game time. As for why I would like to get a new system it’s because I’m of course slowly being left behind by my friends who have the next gen console, because my Xbox is getting to the point it’s showing its age, and because at the moment I can’t afford to buy any next gen consoles at all so any help there would be amazing. I would love to play the division and also battle born as well as see how well the new consoles play.

  6. My first gaming experience was when a friend’s family got Pong. Then I got to play Space Invaders on an Atari when some friends from church got a 2600. I was never allowed to play in video arcades very much – not because my parents had a proble with me playing video games, but because my mother saw it as a waste of money. Eventually as a teen, I was able to buy my own Atari 2600. when the price dropped. After the Atari, I did most of my gaming on the Commodore 128, which could play any Commodore 64 software. Then I moved on to the NES, followed by the Sega Genesis. Once I got a 486 PC with Windows 3.1, I started into PC gaming, moving onto more powerful computers and newer versions of Windows. I still do some PC gaming, but I mainly do it on consoles. I got the original XBox, and later the XBox 360, which is my current gaming machine.

This is where I come to my need for a new console. I would love to get an XBox One or PS4, as new games are starting to get scarce for the 360. Unfortunately, my finances are tight as I am currently out of work and the main breadwinner of the family just passed away. So, any money coming in has to go towards food and paying the bills. So, winning a new console would help a lot.

  7. Hello, I would just like to say that I have been gaming for a long long time. I remember even playing pong and being so excited to play this game. Pong. Pong. I have kept up with Genesis, N64 and whatever I could get my hands on as they came available. I also started doing more and more PC gaming as the PC’s got better and better. The reason I need a new console now is that I still have a first generation Xbox 360 system and it’s about time to put it out to pasture and get a new system. This contest looks like a good way for me to change my systems to a new PS4 system. I have enjoyed playing the Xbox but there are a few games like Uncharted and MLB the show which are only for the PS4 system and I have heard so many good and great things about these games and the PlayStation 4 systems that are now available. Even the new Rally games have more details and choices on the PS4 which i would love to drive again.

. EvSo since I have been gaming and upgrading systems as I go along it seems like the natural progression that I move on to the PS4 systems and the Xbox exclusive games do not hold my interest anymore. I hope that I can be a winner of this contest. Go PS4

  8. I started gaming when I was just a small kid, as I had a big brother who loved computers and programing and games on the Atari.  We would spend family time (thinking back now I guess it was only for the kids’ amusement) at arcades and donut shops every week or two.  We loved that we could be given one dollar each (in quarters) and since there was three of us, we would get a long time of amusement from just that small amount of pocket change.  I can’t imagine what a video game costs now days.  I need a new gaming system because I only have an old Playstation and with kids and teenagers that like to visit, it would be a dream to have something for them to look forward to at Aunty’s house that they maybe don’t have at home.  It would also open up opportunities for me to get with the times and get gaming with them so we had stuff to talk about that didn’t seem so old fashioned.  I love spending time with my nieces and nephew and this would add a whole new elevation to our time together.  Thank you for the opportunity and good luck to everyone!

  9. I’ve gamed since I was five or so years old, I was born in 1996 I started out by watching my brothers play the new Nintendo 64 we got for Christmas it was the best thing I’ve ever seen they would take turns with each other always skipping over me because I was the youngest I hated it but I enjoyed watching either way, anyways fast forward to our bedtime everyone went to bed except me I stayed up because I was determined to get my first try at Mario 64 so I snuck into the living room turned on the T.V. and the Nintendo muted the T.V. and started the game about ten minutes in mom gets out of bed to get a glass of water catches me sends me back to bed, and that was the first time i’ve ever played a video game fast forward 15 years i’ve got a PS3 been playing it since it got released haven’t really had the money to get one of the new consoles so i’ve just been playing on my PS3 well my friends have moved on to the newer systems which I can’t play because I can’t afford it but hopefully I can win it if not awesome for the other winners and I hope you enjoy it every bit.

  10. I have been gaming since I was 5 years old. I started off with Atari, when my brother received it as a gift, and at the same time I used to play commodore at my friend’s house. My best memories are of Sonic the Hedgehog when it first came out on Sega Genesis. I remember staying up all night to finish Zelda back in the days. Never got chance to play Nintendo 64 but the first time I saw PlayStation 1, I was blown away.  I still remember when I took a day off from school to stand in line outside Best Buy starting at 9pm day before release date of Playstation 2, I played Tekken Tag Tournament all day without taking a break, great day. Gaming has been a great part of my life as it reminds me of all the times I have spent with my friends and family. I currently own Nintendo Wii U and enjoying that a lot when my friends come over, still keeping the old Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 but they are collecting dust, waiting to join the new generation of players by getting my hands on Playstation 4 and or Xbox One.

  11. It started by going to Goodwill stores with my grand parents in the 90’s. They went to look for deals for their children (mostly fabric for clothes and sometimes furniture) but one of my earliest memories is finding and buying a video game system called Atari. It was brand new but without the box, a sticker was still on the logo. My brother was with us and we brought it home and one of the first games we played was pong. Now I have two brothers and cousins that now have current systems (more have Xbox One) that live in different countries and this is my chance to play with them and hopefully create new memories whether it’s by playing video games online or through skype if it’s still available. E3 is almost here. Heart

  12. I’ve been gaming since the Pong Console days, man I must be old. Since then I’ve had Coleco Vision, NES, Super NES, XBOX, Dreamcast, XBOX 360, and PS3. How many gamers remember the days when you couldn’t save your game progress and if you wanted to continue from where you left off you had to pause the game until you came back. Then someone would turn it off and you’d have to start over from the beginning again. How frustrating. I don’t know how many hours I’ve gamed but there have been many night where I didn’t get too bed until the wee hours of the morning. As I get older I no longer have those marathon gaming sessions but I do still enjoy gaming.

Some of these upcomg games look amazing and I would really enjoy the chance to play some of them. However I’m kind out out of the loop now since game makers have stopped making games for older consoles and I could sure use an upgrade to a newer game console like the XBOX ONE or PS4. Another good thing about these new consoles is they both play Blu-Ray movies which is great for home theater buffs like myself. Good luck to all of my fellow entrants.

  13. I’ve been a gamer for a good 30 years and I remember as a young kid opening my Christmas present of an Nintendo entertainment system with the ROB robot.  Didn’t use ROB much but I sure enjoyed my NES.  Metroid, Super Mario Bros 3 and Legend of Zelda were my  favorites on that system.   There was no turning back after that.  When Street Fighter 2 came out for the Super Nintendo, my friends and played that for hours on end by doing tournaments.  Great game!   I still loved Nintendo but bought a Sony playstation over a Nintendo 64 back in the late nineties.  I remember seeing Wipeout for the first time and being floored by its graphics.   Same with Gran Turismo, couldn’t have enough of that game with hundreds of cars you can play with.

I’ve gotten a new system with each new generation and I have a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 at the moment which I both love.  This industry has given me tons of hours of entertainment but now’s the time to hopefully win a new console since some friends have an Xbox one and are constantly talking about the awesome graphics and great games, especially Overwatch which I hear is terrific.

  14. I have been gaming since 5 years old starting with the NES. My favourite game was Mario Bros of course. Next my brother receive for his birthday the SNES. We had a lot of fun playing Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. Then, it was the Genesis. I had a lot of fun playing sports game on this console. After that, i bought a N64. My favourite game was a wrestling game. I remember spending a lot of my time playing with my brother. Finally i did buy the first XBOX and the XBOX 360. It is the last console i bought. Then i had kids. With kids, you have less money for games and consoles so i am still playing with the XBO360. . I definitely need a new console of the last generation. I would like to play new games with my kids and it would be great if they have as much pleasure that i have when i play these games.

  15. I’m a 90’s kid. My first console was Super Nintendo and my first game was Donkey Kong Country 2. I would wake up early everyday just to pass a mission. I never ended up completing the game because it was that challenging. Ever since, I’ve have had a Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 3. I still love both consoles incredibly to this day. Current consoles are powerful and feature-packed however they’re beyond the scope of my budget. Winning one would upgrade my aging arsenal of consoles as I love challenging adventure games.

  16. I’ve been gaming since I was around 4 year old. We got a PC(WIN95) with a SNES emulator at first, then later my mother’s friend gave us a NES. I spend hours playing Duck Hunt and Indiana Jones, I never finished the game though. I spent most of my childhood playing nintendos games because it’s fun and we invited friends to play together which is way more fun than playing with AI, We played Mario kart 64, Super Smash Bros. 64, star fox 64 and goldeneye together.

Then during my early teenage years, I played Diablo II and Super Smash Bros. melee and Mario Kart double dash for hours. in my mid teenage year, I mostly play shooters games for some reason, I played Counter-Strike 1.6 hours and then I got into the Battlield series on the PS3.

Nowdays, I spend most of my time on PC games and I play consoles games at least once a week. Unless there’s a new rpg games on 3ds, wii u or ps4. I can spend hours playing rpgs games. I also enjoy other genres than rpgs, except sport games, but if game has power ups, i might like it too.

I never owned an Xbox console before, if I could win one it would be awesome.

  17. I am being completely honest here. I have never had my own console and the only thing I have ever played games on is my netbook. It can barely run minecraft at 5 fps and it freezes when I launch 2 programs at the same time. I have never had a smooth gaming experience. Please understand. I went to my friends house to play on his ps3 once, and even that thing froze!

  18. I could really benefit from a new console as my current system is on its last few miles and I really like the PS4 exclusives as well some of the new consoles titles like current game The Division which comes in this amazing package as well Ghost Recon in the future. I currently and foreseeable do not have the funds for this as I am diagnosed with a chronic mental health disorder, bipolar. I use video games to give me a break from my mind when I am ill and it lets me focus on something rather than nothing or too much depending on my mood. This console would mean so much to me and provide a therapeutic release as well as a lot of fun of course. I always go to best buy for my electronic needs but I need to save for a new computer for school as a first priority, I also must feed myself, albeit my parents do help with that! I know each entree is a draw but I really hope I see that winning email from best buy, it would mean so much to me. I also use my console to keep in touch with friends that live away from me but without a newer console I can’t do that, I know there’s things called phones but gaming and talking is way more fun I think we can all agree. I also need a new phone but that’s a future contest! Kidding! I will continue to support Best Buy for my electronic needs as they offer great customer service exemplified by contests like these.

  19. Daily entry for June 9th: Well, if each entry has to be unique, I’ll write a little more specifically about each system I played growing up in the next few days. So as I said last time, I’ve been gaming since the 80s, starting with the Atari 2600. Flipping through a list of Atari games, don’t really remember most of them too well . . Ms Pac Man and Donkey Kong Jr for sure, and I think there was a tank game too. While I’m not sure if I could play them regularly today, it was a lot of fun back then and built up my arm strength with how clanky that Atari joystick was. I do also remember playing a lot of portable games which I think were called Game and Watch. There was a Bombs Away game I played a ton out of, I think it starred a pre-Super Mario Bros Mario as a soldier avoiding bombs thrown by monkeys in the trees (Donkey Kong’s relatives?). My cousins also had a side scrolling Game and Watch Mario game that I looked forward to playing a lot of whenever I was at their house. But a few years later, I got a Game Boy and those Game and Watches started collecting a lot of dust. Smiley Happy

  20. I’ve played computer games since the early 90s when we used multiple floppy discs to install a game. It twas McCrae rally, that was a really early 3d game that was tonnes of fun, racing through dirt and forests. Comanche too, I loved flying  these basic helicopter missions that let you destroy really basic three dimensional shapes. Then of course console gaming made it so accessible, everyone had one eventually, my favorite was the Nintendo 64, it was all about playing with it against your friends in super smash bros or goldeneye, sharing cheat codes and findings secrets to share to beat a game like Zelda 64. I have a younger brother so I always had an extra controller and willing victim to beat in game.  When I got a gameboy advance it was all about bringing it to school and leveling up your pokemon all day everyday. A new Xbox would sure impress my family by showing them how far gaming has gotten and changed in recent years since our last console was a ps2 and only used for GTA San Andreas and as a DVD player. I’ve recently become blasé with gaming seeing it as all pre determined and no real adventure anymore but maybe I’m wrong and it’s way better then it seems and I’m missing out on a massive opportunity for entertainment. #roadtoe3

  21. I’ve been a gamer since I was 10 (the good ol’ Atari 2600 days!) but have only managed to graduate to the PS3 – and my kids have some gaming inclinations but would love to try to keep pace with their friends who are playing on newer systems!

  22. I was never allowed to play video games as a child in my own house. So I was limited to only playing at my cousins house, which was rare as well. I truly started gaming when I was in college in 2003. My cousin gave me his old Super Nintendo and about 10 games. I was hooked. After that another cousin gave me his old Nintendo 64 and 10 games. I spent hours playing both consoles but eventually wanted something new. That’s when my wonderful boyfriend bought me a PS 2. I now had 3 consoles and a ton of games. Since then I have also bought a Wii and a Wii U. As much as I love the consoles I have and still play games on all of them, my husband gets frustrated as their are no sports games for the Wii U and the games we have for the PS 2 are so outdated. Both of us have been eyeing up the PS 4 and the XBox trying to add to our collection and update our graphics, however it just hasn’t been in the budget. It would be great to win one and have a chance to play games with my husband instead of always alone.

  23. I have been gaming since grade school and as with a lot of people here, our first gaming console was an atari.  As I grew older we graduated to the nintendo and the various versions in between and I bought my first PS console when I was in college with the money I made at BlockBuster.  From there I have since married and have two very awesome boys and own a Wii, a Wiiu and a PS2 console.   I am not writing this for myself even though I would greatly enjoy a new console and the new games that would come with it. I am writing this for my boys.  They love to game (they get that from me Smiley Happy)  And I love to spend time with them gaming.  As one parent said it is a bonding experience for me and my boys, and when my 6 year old asks me to play Skylanders with him the joy and love I feel when we play together is uncomparable.  But I would like others to feel the same joy with their kids as I feel with mine.  If we win my boys and I are going to donate the system to Habitat for Humanity who are building a house in our community and who ever gets the house will get to enjoy a new gaming system and get to appricate the love and joy that a simple game can bring the whole family.

  24. I’ve been gaming ever since I can remember, I was born in the 90s and the first console my mom ever bought me was a Nintendo N64! That console was awesome and ever since then I’ve owned just about every console except the first xbox and xbox one. I love games so much that I turned my book reading girlfriend into a gamer. I also love games soo much that I went to university for Game Development and I graduate today! So not only do I play games I make them and aspire to be a great developer. Every e3 I preorder a whole stack of games and throughout the year it’s like Christmas! I would like a new console for 2 reasons, one so that me and my girlfriend can play on fullscreens together. The other reason being I’m out of warranty and my ps4 has already broken down once so I had to pay the 170 to get it fixed and that’s crazy I can’t afford that again! And if it’s an Xbox one even better! The exclusives for xbox look awesome and I’ve been missing out on quite a few, I miss the good ol gear series. Regardless, I’m just happy to see soo many gamer stories above, makes me want to make great games that much more, thanks for this opportunity!

  25. Hello! Thanks for running this great contest! Smiley Happy
My first introduction to gaming was on a Ninetendo 64 with Mario, Donkey Kong and SimCity, of course! As a young person I played a lot of Sims and even faked sick a couple once or twice to stay home and play on the computer! I remember going over to my friends houses after school so that we could play Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart together. One of my friends had a Wii as well so we would play tennis.
I got my first console (a PS3) at eighteen and my favorite games were Mass Effect and Call of Duty. Nowadays, I don’t have a console, but I do have a computer that is capable of running some pretty sweet games. I need a new gaming console because I always regretted getting rid of my PS3 as I liked using it to play games a lot better than the computer. My fiance built this computer and he loves it for playing games but I prefer to just play for a little bit instead of having a more involved game that is many hours. I think that consoles are better for that in general! Smiley Happy

  26. Well, Day 3 and here’s to hoping that substance counts….

By now I was moving into Grades 7 and 8 and girls started to come into the picture. That doesn’t mean that video games disappeared, they just took backseat for a little while. My brother and I still use to plan a monthly trip downtown into the big city to play at an arcade that was under the CN Tower. Does anyone remember that? It was the only location that had the game Phoenix and we would spend out months’ worth of allowance there. I also became quite proficient in Track & Field and Cliffhanger, a couple of my favourties. My brother and I actually had a little rivalry going where we would swap between 1st and 2nd place on the Cliffhanger leader board until I finally blew him away! I found that if you died at a certain point your score carries when you restart. He was LIVID!

Now, you ask why I need a new gaming console. Well, simple, look at the memories it created for me, and my brother. I’d like to pass that on to my kids!

    Thank you #RoadToE3

Tomorrow – The High School Years

  27. Well, I am not a Gamer per se, but rather the Keeper of the Games.  I did game earlier in my life with Pac Man, Pong, Golf, Duck Hunt and good old Nintendo 64.

I still have most of these games, including an original Nintendo 64 and a huge assortment of games, but they are kept for Grandchildren and friends.  They love to come over and dig out the antiques (sometimes even borrowing them to take home for a night) and play for hours.  They have much more modern games in their own homes, but love to Play Grandma’s Oldies!

  28. My children grew up with video games and my son especially has always found it a great way to relax. As  he is getting older, he is are also gaining many of the adult responsibilites – such as a car and all the expenses that go along with it. He’s are just starting out and I know that it is a rough time making ends meet – it’s a vicious circle, you need a car to work but your work is only paying for the car. There is no room just yet for anything beyond neccessities, but at the the same time, one needs to relax and have fun after a long day! Unfortuntaly updating his system is just not  in the cards right now. Therefore a new gaming system would be awesome! It would not only provide something for the now but also something that he could affored to build on. This would give him a step up and a huge reward for working so hard  – and proof for what I’ve been telling him that things do work out in the long run!

So, thank you for the opportunity. i know the odds are slim – but the reward is so great!

  29. i’ve been gaming for quite a long time, i’ve had quite a few console over the years: vic20, atari, coleco vision, nintendo, sega, wii, xbox 360 and xbox one. Sadly my xbox one overheated and does not work anymore. a new one would certainly help fill the void in my life.

  30. I of course started like a lot of people born in the 90’s, playing on hand me down video game systems like Super Nintendo and N64. Super Metroid, Super Mario, Kirby games, Golden Eye, and so many more. Like a lot of people many of my fondest memories were playing super mario and Golden Eye with my older Brother and my friends, or figuring out complex puzzles and challenges and accomplishing them. I still have both my Nintendo Consoles and even still occasional play them today. When the first Xbox came out I was really hooked. Halo blew my mind. I remember looking down at the grass and was amazed I could see different blades of grass. Now we have games like Assassin’s creed and Call of Duty. So many different ways to play games and styles of graphics and gameplay. Now we have Xbox One and PS4, neither of which I have and both I know I’d love and enjoy countless hours playing on. Videogames are amazing things and they’re only getting better and I can’t wait to create even more memories with them. Maybe one day I’ll be teaching my kids how defeat Bowser or how it doesn’t matter that we never see Master Cheif’s face, that’s just another thing that makes him awesome. I hope I win this contest!!!

  31. My first exposure to video gaming was the Gameboy Colour. It was the only gaming system I grew up playing, but I loved it so much and it brought so much joy. I was never able to own any home consoles because my family couldn’t afford it compared to handheld consoles. Even so, I fell in love with the PS2 when I was able to play it at my friend’s house. It provided a “traditional gaming” experience for me. Ever since then, I’ve kept up with gaming news because there was so much more than just the Gameboy.

During high school, my parents were able to get me a PS3 for Christmas. I was overrun with joy and spent so many hours playing on it. Even though I was battling some mental illnesses, being able to turn on a console and escape into the game’s world helped me so much.

To this day, I still enjoy playing my PS3 and 3DS. But now that there are so many games coming out soon that I have been keeping an eye on for years, I feel like it’s time to move onto the next gen console. Of course, with tuition fees and textbooks, it’s a difficult to settle on the decision to buy a new console. But I appreciate this opportunity to get a chance of possibly winning a console. Gaming has been my hobby since I was a toddler and it will continue to be as I grow.

  33. Hello. Firstly, thank you so much for such a great  #RoadtoE3 giveaway!

I have been a gamer since the Intellivision days, circa 1982. This model was too expsensive but we had the Intellivision II . I loved that gaming system. My brother and I played that untill the pads were raw. Some of my favourite games (yes I still remember) were Centipede, Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Snafu..

Over the years I have had many diffrent gaming consoles. Amoung my favourites- Atarii , Nintendo, PS2, I even remember renting consoles that I didn’t own just to try them out!

Mario Bros was right up there on great memories. I am fortunate to have been able to have gaming systems thruout my life.

Currently I own an XBox. Would love to upgrade to an Xbox One, but any upgrade would be fantastic. My current system is getting old and I’m afraid for the old girl. She’s had a lot of hours put on her. I think gamiing is an important part of my life. I don’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t own a gaming console so I would say that qualifies. You can do anything, be anyone in games. Have fun gamers!

  34. I have been gaming since my uncle first brought home a Nintendo Entertainment System. This was way back in 93 and my uncle had upgraded to a Super Nintendo. I was hooked from the very beginning.  I played every game I could get my hands on from punch-out to duck hunt.

Over the years I went on to own many gaming consoles while also gaming on PC whenever I got a chance. I have been fortunate to pick up a lot of old consoles from garage sales and now own a sega genesis, super nintendo, nintendo 64, playstation, playstation 2, nintendo and a PS3. I also play a lot of games on my PC but my computer is getting a little long in the tooth. Most of the components are over 5 years old and to be honest I am going to need to do a full rebuild soon if I want to play current generation AAA titles.

To makes matters worse I find myself without a current generation system or a previous generation system for my living room. My xbox 360 finally died and when my bother moved out he took our PS3. This leaves me without much to game on other that when I am in a retro mood. It’s time for upgrade and either a PS4 or Xbox one would fit perfectly.

  35. I’ve been gaming since I was really young. I remember I didn’t have the first consoles and had to go over to my friend’s place or sometimes my relatives’ place to play the original Nintendo. Then the next generation came and we finally bought a Sega Genesis. I remember spending hours on this system playing the Sonic the Hedgehog games, straight through. Sonic Spinball became a popular game at our house. The competing system at the time was the Super Nintendo, and although we didn’t have that system, I still liked the Super Mario games and Super Mario Kart.

The next few generations, we decided to switch brands. We got the Sony Playstation because it was very popular and it was Sony’s first entrance into the gaming scene. The Playstation had so many good games that it would take so long to go through all of them. For the next generation we moved onto the Nintendo Gamecube, and that wasn’t very popular. Most recently, I owned an Xbox 360 and it was a big move up from the Gamecube. The Xbox 360 is the last system I owned and do not have any of the new generation systems, so I’m hoping I can win one here!

  36. I have been gaming for about fifteen years and I have certainly committed a lot of hours of my time to playing many different games. I love gaming and have since I first received a Nintendo 64 for Christmas when I was five years old. I loved playing Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers and spent hours on end at it. My mother and sister liked to play Donkey Kong and my friends and I played together on the weekends and it was a lot of fun. After a few years I moved on to a PlayStation 3 and then to an Xbox and an Xbox 360 after that. So it is now time to move to the next system – an Xbox One. I would really love to play Call of Duty Black Ops on an Xbox One. I have kept all of my old systems and all the games. I have quite a collection and intend to hang on to them.  My friends and I took out the old Nintendo not that long ago and had a blast playing some of the old games. What a change in technology and graphics over the years.

  37. I started gaming shortly I started school, so I must have been maybe 7 or 8 at the time, and I instantly fell in love with my precious gamecube. Why would I run around outside in some random ravine when I could save poor shadow pokemon or race around places in karts?

Since then gaming has been an important part of my life; any party that I’ve done basically meant people brought over controllers so we could spend all day playing party and/or horror games.  I even met my latest lab partner because during introductions we both said that we’d rather be at home gaming!

My parents used to believe that it was just a phase: that I’d grow out of it. They couldn’t have been more wrong. Now I find myself hunting for limited editions of games and constantly preordering things for release day delivery.

My system is a PS3 and I’ve been bashing my head against the wall every time I see hear about all the amazing new releases that are coming out (or have already come out), knowing that I can’t be a part of it… The second I get a new system I’m bringing out my long “Must Have Games” list!

  38. Post a Essay for a new gaming system, well to start this type of essay properly, I need to get this off my chest. I do not need a new gaming system but would love one. To me another gaming system would just enable me to see my kids create there own gaming stories to be able to share with future contests. Sure I could get into my time as a gamer but the way I see it, I have three kids that are creating their own stories and what a great way to start there gaming story, by saying they won a video game system from Best Buy. My story is the same as everyone else’s started gaming at a young age, received first system at Christmas, boring, boring and boring. If you want my history of gaming look to any of the other essays left and you will most likely find my story as well. Oh yeah Zelda rules. Thank you. No disrespect meant to any other fellow gamers just trying to win a contestSmiley Wink. Two hundred words well to hit that mark I guess I will add my story just to meet the contest rules. My first gaming experience came 30 years ago when I got my first Atari 2600 for Christmas. Pac man, just took over my life at that time if my parents would let me I was playing the Atari. Then I got Spider-Man and there was just something about having to get to the top of the building and try stop the green goblin. I believe it was at that point that I knew I would be gaming for life.  Then the worst thing possible that could happen did, I got a NES. Probably asking yourself what’s so wrong with that? My parents believed in one tv, one video game system. So with the NES out went the Atari man did I cry, Mom did not understand I now had Mario to play, which was great but, I no longer had my pac man and Spider-Man. Well that’s life you get and lose. Live and learn. But know when I think on it and talked to my Mom about it she gave it to a family that had no video game system, so yeah talk about being selfish right. But as kid you don’t see life like that you just see what’s right in front of you. After all this I know now that video games are just a part of me, and man I would not change that for the world. Thank you again Best Buy for letting me enter such a great contest.

  39. I haven’t been gaming for too long. I really started about 5 years ago when we bought our kids a Wii console. Although I guess I have been playing sporadically since I was a kid. My cousin had pong which we thought was just the best. Many years later I played EA Sport NHL games with some friends.

Our family loves playing together and we have lots of fun. Last Christmas we finally upgraded to a Wii U console. It’s great, with a lot of good games for the kids. Our son is now begging for a PS 4 or Xbox One console. And I understand why. He wants to play more grownup games and I would love to do that also. There is such a large variety of games for those consoles and I really want to play Star Wars Battlefront.

Thank you for the cool contest.

  40. I was born in the early 90s and I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember. Whether it be Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis or Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, I always loved diving into the colourful and interactive worlds when playing my favourite video games. Many of my cherished childhood memories are of me playing on these systems, and many others like the Nintedo 64 and the Sony Playstation, with my friends and family, The only problem was that these consoles, along with newer consoles like the Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Xbox One, all belonged to my older brother. I have never been able to call a console “my console”. It has always been his console. His Playstation. His Gamecube. His Xbox. I always wanted to be able to call a video game system my own, but I have never had the chance. It would be so amazing to finally fulfill my childhood dream of being able to invite friends over, turn on my system, and just have fun. I won’t have to worry about asking for permission or worrying if he wants to use the system. I could finally have a console that is mine.

  41. Hi, I am Stephanie. I have been gaming since the 90s which accounts for all my life. I started playing when my cousin who is from the city brought to our house in the province a Game Boy and FamiCom. I started with the classics Tetris, Donkey Kong and Mario Bros and then I knew I loved video games. I did not own my own gaming device till I played one of my classmate’s GameBoy Color with Pokemon Yellow where there is saved game file required and I knew I had to have one. I have tried to own every console and handheld I can my hands on and the first thing I bought with my first paycheck on my first job was a Nintendo Wii at Best Buy in Wilson and Dufferin.

I am a big fan of Action, RPG and Racing games and would like to win one of the systems being given out in the contest. Why I should win is because for 2 years in a row I have been coming to my Holiday party with gaming consoles as prizes (I write it down on the board for a suggestion list of prizes) and somehow this guy has won for 2 consecutive years. I, on the other hand, had come home empty handed. I would just really love to own the new generation consoles and hopefully I can finally have my luck in this contest.

  42. My name is Davina I have been gaming since I could remember I remember playing my super Nintendo ,sega, atari, nes as soon as I got home from school and getting in trouble for it lol.I mean who needs home work when you had all these great systems to play at home. My favorite game of all time was paper boy and trying to win but i never ever could .I still play to this day and what makes it more special is that I have an autistic son who loves to play and it really helps as well as soothes him but we have not have the funds for a new system.. we have been saving up but between his autism and my daughter severe food allergies something always comes up where I have to break his heart and not finish saving for the system to pay a medical bill.if I was to win it would first be an honor and it would make my son’s day he is always asking for a new system but with bills for his autism and medical it just can’t happen ..I hope we are select…it would make his not day but life.

  43.    It was Christmas morning 1996, my older brother and I sat on the ground by the tree eyeing a large box tucked neatly in the back. The lights shimmered off the reflective wrapping, there was no tag for who it belonged to. Our minds raced, asking what could it be?

For the past few years we enjoyed countless hours mashing the A and B buttons on the NES to Punchout,  Battletoads & Doubledragon, and being teased by the dog in Duckhunt. We knew the anticipitory agony that came with performing CPR on a cartridge that didn’t work, and the immense joy felt when you finally revived it. The NES had its day though, and the prospect of getting a brand new system was all too exciting.

The moment finally came, our father grabbed the large box and began moving it our way. My brother and I exchanged eager smirks… just as our dad passed us to give the box to our mother. It was a coffee maker. We sat looking at the barren tree slightly dismayed. Just then, my dad handed us a small box “he must of forgotten to put it under the tree” . I tore away the paper to reveal the words, ” Super Mario 64″.  My brother and I sat dazed, but before we could ask any questions another large box was brought out and inside was a N64. We screamed with excitement, and ran around the house parading the box like a championship trophy.

Gaming was a great way for my brother and I to find common ground in our age gap and to relax in our busy schedules. 20 years later that boyish excitement still lingers for a new system, though the responsibilities of adulthood have kept my brother and I away from our favourite pastime. That’s why I’d love to win this prize.

  44. First game I have ever played was Duck Hunt, and I have been gaming ever since. I love the exclusive titles that Sony has been offering up since the release of PS4. With a company like Naughty Dog leading the pack, gaming has transcended into a new form of story telling. Interaction. Gaming has become an experience for people now. Storytelling mixed with the ability to partake in the adventures has created another level of media.

Thats why I want a new console from the new generation. Computers just don’t offer the gameplay found on console. People look at graphics and refresh rates but miss the point of gaming. Living the story, partaking in action with other people from across the globe, and working together to accomplish a goal. It’s a community unparalleled in any other media or entertainment format. I want to join this revolution, and I need the hardware and software to do it. Please help me achieve this dream!

  45. I have been gaming for about 12 years. I started with the original xbox and love first person shooter games. I prefer games that are multi screen so I can play with friends that way it is more social but there are some games better played solo. I now have an xbox 360 but it’s very old and I can’t get new games for it so I would love to win a new console so I can experience some of the new awesome games out there.

  46. We have been gaming as a family for about 5 years now. My son loves playing games and so does my hubby ! the kids are always arguing over who gets to play what consol. I have great childhood memories of the old school games ! we are in need of a new gaming consol as ours is 5 years old ! With a family of 6 its hard to buy new systems and games ! thanks so much for the chance to win , My kids and hubby would be over the moon with excitment !!!

  47. Video games have been a significant part of my childhood and the bond I have built with my brother. We encountered the flood together on the old Xbox and spent hours fighting as Godzilla. We played through a wide collection of Mario games and collected a ludicrous number of Pokémon on our Gameboys. We have survived waves of zombies in various iterations of Call of Duty, and have screamed at the TV due to a bad goal. The entertainment and relaxation provided by these games has been invaluable. It was through these hours of spending time together that we grew close, and I am happy and proud to call him my best friend. For consoles, we have always played on the same system, looking to purchase games with a co-operative play. As we have grown up and started to move out of the house, having our own consoles has become a problem we have not yet dealt with. We have one PS4, but have not found the time or money to purchase a second given the costs of education. The opportunity to win a second system would allow us to have more of these special moments, and maintain this relationship that I hold so close to my heart.

  48. I started gaming as a young girl, around 6 or 7 years old.  Although my older brother tormented me (as older brothers tend to do) I looked up to him and since he was very much into computers and programing and eventually gaming, the Atari was something I could do with him.  It was probably the only thing he would let me do with him, since a lot of times for those older games you needed two players.  My younger sister was much too young, she was about one or two years old, so it was just me and the big bro.  I need a new gaming system so that I can entertain my young nieces and nephews when they come for sleepovers.  Since they hang out with me at any time of the year, when its cold or raining or snowing it is nice to have an alternative, inside, amusement for them.  We like to do the games together that are a tiny by competitive but fun too.  Games like golf or bowling or any other sport is fun to do together with my young nieces because they enjoy the sport aspect of the game as well as we all enjoy seeing each other succeed.

  49. ive been gaming since forever.. as long as i can remember.

I recently got a couple hand me down games for my birthday from a friend, but i dont have a console.. well i do, but all it can do is play netflix, the disk platform is ruined.. due to my old roommate. which is a whole other story.

but in the end It would be nice to have a new console, and games  ive had the same ps3 since before 2010 lol.

It would be absoultely amazing to have a new console, im obsessed with gaming and there are so many games i have yet to try Smiley Very Happy Smiley Tongue

  50. Our parent in the early eighties bought us the video game Pong, this was the premier gaming system of the time.  A few years later me and my brother got a combined Christmas present of an Atari, this was great for playing all the video games that were in the arcades at the time.  Once the Atari was outdated we bought the Sega Genesis and played Sonic the Hedgehog and EA sport NHL hockey.  At this point in my life I was a little older and started playing PC games, then the Xbox caught my eye, I loved playing Doom, EA NHL, Halo.  The next system was the Xbox 360, now enter my kids, the early year were the Wii, they have gratuated to Wii U and Xbox One,  our house needs a new system for dad as the other tvs are being used for the other games.
