PlayStation presented amazing games
At the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Sony held their E3 press conference to introduce us to their upcoming PS4 games. It was a full hour of non-stop game trailers filled with exciting games, some new and some we’ve seen before. In particular, I thought the new God of War gameplay video was the highlight of the show.
God of War
We got our first glimpse at God of War during Sony’s conference last year, and now today we got a second trailer. This one focused heavily on the gameplay, showing Kratos in action taking on all kinds of mythical monstrosities. What I really love about the gameplay is the new camera perspective, which brings you much closer to the action compared to previous God of War games. It looks like a total refresh of the franchise.
Of course, for this adventure Kratos is no longer battling the Greek gods, and instead finds himself in the heart of Nordic mythology. This means all-new types of enemies and gods awaits us! Accompanying Kratos on this journey is his son, whom he appears to be teaching necessary survival skills. It looks very much like we could see his son grow as a fighter over time, similar to Ellie in Sony’s The Last of Us. Epic boss fight seem to be back as well, with several scenes showing Kratos fighting gargantuan beasts. It looks amazing! The trailer ended with some good news, God of War is arriving in early 2018.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
The Nathan Drake story may have concluded, but Uncharted still has more stories to tell. We saw another trailer for Uncharted: A Lost Legacy, starring Chloe Frazer who teams up with Nadine Ross. The story takes places in India with the two of them searching for an ancient artifact known as the Tusk of Ganesha. What’s interesting is it’s clear the relationship between Chloe and Nadine isn’t exactly harmonious, as we were shown them arguing a fair bit. As I see more of this latest Uncharted game it’s starting to look just as epic as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The Lost Legacy releases this August.
Spider-Man
Sony ended their E3 conference in a huge way with a massive gameplay trailer for Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man. We got to see the webslinger in action, and wow does he have a lot of hand-to-hand combat and web-firing moves. The big surprise at the end of the trailer was the appearance of Miles Morales, another Marvel character who goes by the identity of Spider-Man. How does Miles factor into the final game? We’ll have to wait and see!
