Nintendo Switch Lite

Without a doubt, Nintendo has had a stellar year in video games. In total, the Nintendo Switch family of systems has sold more than 42 million systems across the globe and over 246 million games worldwide. Wow! And, just this past September, the Nintendo Switch Lite was released.

Today, on day 8 of our 12 Days of Christmas feature we have the Nintendo Switch Lite. Let’s take a look at why the Nintendo Switch Lite is our day 8 choice and what makes it the perfect choice for the gamer on your holiday shopping list.

It’s compact, light and made for gaming where you go

The Nintendo Switch Lite is a dedicated handheld and thus is made for the gamer who plays mostly on the go. The Switch Lite doesn’t hook up to your TV, and the Joy Con controllers are not detachable.

However, it is lighter than the Nintendo Switch and features a 5.5-inch LCD touch screen with 720p resolution. While it has a slightly smaller screen than the 6.2-inch screen on the Nintendo Switch, you’ll never really notice it. In the 3 months that I’ve been playing Switch Lite, I’ve never once had an issue with screen size.

Moreover, the Nintendo Switch Lite has an increased battery life between 20-30% more than the Switch. And, the Switch Lite features a traditional control pad, which makes playing fighting games easier. Furthermore, the Switch Lite feels like a perfect fit in your hands. In fact, I’ve found that all the buttons on the Switch Lite are much more accessible compared to when I am holding the Switch in my hands.

Stylish design and colours for everyone

The Nintendo Switch Lite is available in three different colours: yellow, grey and turquoise. And, there is a special Pokémon Sword Zacian and Zamazenta Edition. Personally, I like turquoise best but my daughter likes yellow and my son likes grey. Regardless, there is a Nintendo Switch Lite colour for everyone.

Games, games and more games

The main attraction of one any particular gaming console is the games available to play on it. In particular what gives one console an advantage over another is the amount of exclusive games available to play. And, no matter how you stack it, in 2019 Nintendo delivered big time.

There are so many great games out on the market that there has never been a better time to own a Switch Lite. Games such as Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Daemon X Machina, Fire Emblem: Three HousesPokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, Astral Chain, and New Super Lucky’s Tale are hit games released this year.

And, I highly recommend The Witcher 3 Complete Edition, Super Smash Bros. UltimateThe Legend of Zelda Breath of the WildPokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu!Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Octopath Traveler. In all, these are just a small sample of the over 2000 games available on the the Nintendo Switch Lite.

  1. Out of all the gifts that you are giving away this one would be the number one that my daughter would love to get for Christmas. Her favourite game to play is Mario Kart.

  2. My son just mentioned that he wanted one. Great gaming device and the extra long battery life is a big plus

  3. My wife would love this!! Would love nothing more than to see her face being able to play some Mario games!!

  4. My kids been asking.. I wish I could. My mom died 2 months ago and funerals are expensive. It’s hard when there’s nothing left and e everything is still going to pay off the funeral
    Sorry ..venting…merry Christmas!

    • The jump in performance from Nintendo’s 3DS handheld to the Switch Lite is MASSIVE. Home console gaming is quite literally available anywhere now. The improved battery life, and lighter weight compared to the original switch is definitely a welcome improvement. The Lite’s integrated control pad is more ergonomic over the more ‘living room focused’ original Switch, especially if you add the Hyperkin Grip Case for Switch Lite (also available at Best Buy).
