House of Marley Get Together 2 review

House of Marley is a brand that always manages to combine sound and style. I’ve been using their headphones for a few years, but I had never tried out their Bluetooth speakers until I was asked to review the House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini Bluetooth speakers.

These Bluetooth speakers, with their wood overlay and grey mesh cover, are possibly the best-looking Bluetooth speakers I’ve ever seen. After listening to them on their own and linked together, I can confirm they also have fantastic sound quality.

Here’s a look at the House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini Bluetooth speakers.

Features on House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini

HOM Get Together 2 and Get Together 2 Mini review

House of Marley really knocked it out of the park with the speaker design of the House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini. They used sustainable materials and layered the speakers with natural bamboo, covered them with eco-friendly fabric, and packaged them in 100% recyclable packaging.

These Bluetooth speakers share the same features, but they are two different sizes. While they both run on battery power and charge via USB-C, the slightly larger speaker feels like it would be best placed at home on a shelf while the mini speaker is small enough to throw in your bag and take everywhere.

  • Get Together 2 has 40 watts of power and the Get Together 2 Mini has 20 watts of power
  • Both have full-range drivers and dual passive radiators
  • Bass Boost, Acoustic, and Marley Signature Sound available with a tap on the back of both speakers
  • Get Together 2 Mini has 15 hours of playtime and Get Together 2 has 20 hours after a single charge
  • Bluetooth 5.0 keeps you connected up to 30 meters away
  • IP67 (Mini) and IP65 water and dust resistance protect your speakers from dust and splashes
  • Link two Get Together 2 speakers and fill your space with surround sound

Setting up House of Marley Get Together 2 Bluetooth speakers

It’s very simple to set up both House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini. Once you unpack them you’ll notice there is an included USB-C charging cable. You’ll need to plug it into a USB-C compatible charge port or power adaptor. They don’t include the power adapter in the box, but I had one for my phone so I just plugged in and let the speakers charge.

Once your speakers are charged you can power them on by touching the power button on the back of the speaker. The power button is above the EQ button that you can use to change speaker modes. If you lift a weatherproof flap on the back of the speaker you’ll find an auxiliary port and the charging port.

On the top of the speaker is a button you can use to take or press end on calls, pause your music, or turn the volume up and down.

How to connect two House of Marley Get Together 2 speakers for multi-room audio

Both speakers sound great on their own, but once I connected them I had to listen to them together every time I turned them on.

To connect two House of Marley Get Together 2 speakers you’ll need to pair them both with your device first. I paired the Get Together 2 first and the Get Together 2 Mini second. Once they were both connected to my phone I held down the two volume buttons on top of both speakers.

You’ll hear an audio prompt, and if you’re already streaming music you will be able to hear it play from both speakers at the same time.

Testing House of Marley Get Together 2 speakers

House of Marley Get Together 2 EQ

I love testing out Bluetooth speakers, and the House of Marley Get Together 2 speakers are at the top of my favourites list. From the minute I unpacked them I was impressed with their style, and when I turned them on I was just as impressed with their sound quality.

The sound quality of Get Together 2 speakers separately

The House of Marley Get Together 2 has four speakers, while the Get Together 2 Mini has two. Given that it has two more speakers it’s understandable that the sound quality from the larger Get Together 2 will be louder and deeper.

Depending on what you’re listening to you, you can change the sound profiles by tapping the back of the speaker. The colour changes from green to blue to pink depending on what profile you’re listening to. I had to look at the instructions to find out which profile I was using as you only have colour to go on. I really liked Bass Boost the most.

Individually I prefer the larger Get Together 2 as the additional speakers really make a volume difference. The audio is crisp and clear, and the bass is fairly impressive. Both speakers can really thump when you’re playing bass-heavy tracks, and if you’re sitting right beside them you can feel the bass hit. It’s not quite as low as a real bass-driven speaker would give you, but it’s impressive for a Bluetooth speaker.

Vocals are always clear, and they sound especially elevated when you’re listening to acoustic playlists.

Multi-room audio with Get Together 2 and Get Together 2 Mini

House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini Review

While these speakers sound great individually, I can’t stop listening to them synced together, and now I’m completely hooked on multi-room speakers. I placed one on an end table by the front door and the other on a bookcase behind me, and I was in awe of how these two small speakers could fill the room with sound. It’s honestly so impressive.

I listened to a lot of different music with the two synced. At some points, some of the tracks had sound effects that felt like they were bouncing between the two speakers. One speaker would pick up some parts while the other would pick up other parts, and it creates a very immersive experience.

You can pair them and keep your phone at a distance of up to 30 meters away. I wandered the house and never lost connection to the speakers, and they didn’t lose the connection to each other either. Anytime I wanted to listen to them after I initially paired them, all I had to do was power them on and they automatically connected to each other. When you turn one speaker off, they both turn off.

Battery life of Get Together 2 speakers

The House of Marley Get Together 2 has 20 hours of battery life and the Get Together 2 Mini has 15 hours of battery life. I played them for about 12 hours total, mostly synced together, and the battery didn’t run out of me. It also didn’t drain mid-use, so you don’t have to worry it won’t turn on if you’re storing your speaker for a few days or weeks.

Should you choose House of Marley Get Together 2 Bluetooth speakers?

House of Marley Bluetooth speaker review

The House of Marley Get Together 2 and House of Marley Get Together 2 Mini are some of the best-looking speakers I’ve ever seen. They look amazing on a bookshelf or entertainment unit, and it’s nice they are designed with sustainable materials.

Individually they have great sound quality, and you can use the EQ settings on the back of the speaker to change the mode depending on what you’re listening to. You won’t get that deep bass you’ll get with a pair of wired speakers, but they offer full-range sound in a portable package.

The House of Marley Get Together 2 and Get Together 2 Mini really shine when you sync them together. It’s a completely seamless experience once you have paired the speakers. You turn one on and they both turn on, you adjust the volume and it turns up or down on both, and together they really fill the room with sound. Because they are rated IP65 (Mini) and IP67, you can use them outside too. I think I would head for cover if it was really raining, but you won’t have to worry about them getting damaged by splashes or a light drizzle.

The Get Together 2 and Get Together 2 Mini tick off every box on my Bluetooth speaker checklist—they look great, sound great, and have long-lasting battery life. I don’t think anyone who chooses these speakers will be disappointed. You can find House of Marley Get Together 2 and Get Together 2 Mini at Best Buy right now.
