Smart TVs have become the entertainment center of our homes, and the latest smart TVs have so many new features it can be hard to stay up to date. Have you ever wondered how to get the most out of your TV? Or if the newest features make it worth the upgrade from your regular TV? If so, I’m here to help. Here are some of the smartest features on modern-day smart TVs.

1. A smart TV command center for your smart home

When your smart TV has an operating system like Google’s TV and Chromecast you can use it to control all your smart devices in a single place. It’s easy because you don’t need to reach for your controller or smartphone to control all of your individual smart devices.

The value of smart devices lies in their seamless usability, and nothing is as seamless as having all of your devices right on the screen of your TV. You can see a feed of your indoor or outdoor cameras, turn off your smart lights, or unlock your back door, all from your TV. Your TV can be an intuitive entertainment center and smart home hub, all in one.  Just make sure to check your smart device compatibility options before going choosing the type of TV you’d like.

2. Multi-tasking hub to boost your productivity

Most modern TVs have wireless casting capabilities, allowing you to easily connect them as a second monitor for your work setup. The portability of a laptop combined with the size and capabilities of a TV can create a great work environment for those that benefit from having two displays. I find having two displays increases productivity and allows for more customization of my workflow.

Samsung Smart TVs are one example of a device that comes with a built-in multi-view feature. It’s similar to Apple’s ‘Chromecast’, allowing you to seamlessly split your display from your connected devices to stream directly to your TV. With these devices, you can even watch multiple inputs at the same time. Imagine working on your computer while watching your favourite show or playing a video game while someone else in the house catches up on their weekly TV programs. A TV could end those nightly debates on who gets to pick what to watch.

Fitness is one of the newest features added to TVs. There are a lot of all-in-one fitness and health apps you can stream on your TV. Programs like Samsung’s Health TV allow you to simultaneously sync your health data with wearable devices and you can work out with numerous pre-recorded professional workout guides.

Other apps may also unlock the ability to get in contact with your very own personal trainer, all without leaving the house. They provide a well-rounded workout from the comfort of your own home. If this type of content sounds interesting to you, you can learn more by checking out the list of TVs or media streamers that can help you get fit.

Any TV can become smarter with the right device

One of the best parts of media streamers is that they are a budget-friendly option if you aren’t quite ready to commit to a brand-new smart TV. While a media streamer won’t have all the features that a more modern TV will, adding one will still be a great upgrade from a standard TV.

  1. My new TV has ended up changing my whole lifestyle. No longer am I flipping through channels and settling for whatever is on, now I have endless entertainment possibilities right at my fingertips. The first paragraph about it being a hub for your smart home is completely true. I can connect my TV to my smart lights and thermostats, and control them all from the comfort of my couch. It truly is a game-changer.
