Great toys hold a special place in our hearts. They create great experiences at the time we play with them. They also leave a treasured memory that we can look back on and smile as we get older. The coolest toys do something a little extra. Really cool toys unite a generation, and sometimes multiple generations. Many of the hottest toys these days are tech toys: robots, drones etc. Which tech toy of 2016 do you think will make the biggest impression in a child’s life, or in your life? Every year new toys are released that have the potential to become a child’s special treasure. Best Buy carries many of these. Best Buy also has the greatest selection of tech toys. Last year I fell in love with the Sphero BB-8 App-enabled Droid. It’s the kind of toy that will resonate in a person’s memories for decades.

You may find it difficult to decide what the coolest toy is this year. It’s not always easy to predict what will be the best toy in a given year, but really there are no wrong answers. For example, I asked my wife which tech toy she remembers as having been really cool when she was young and her answer, the Fisher Price parking garage (shown below), really surprised me! Note that Best Buy carries a Melissa & Doug version of this parking garage. I too had one of those vintage Fisher Price garages when I was young and played with it incessantly. I hadn’t thought about that toy in many years, but just the mention of it brought back a ton of great memories.
Kids nowadays may not view a parking garage as a tech toy given the options that exist. The prizes in this contest contain many of the best tech toys available in 2016. We have divided the more than $12000 in prizes into 6 toys bundles:

I think the drones are the coolest tech toys from Best Buy this year! Drones are fun for the whole family, I like the selection offered at Best Buy too! The best tech toy I received when I was young was my mini Donkey Kong Jr. arcade game, it was all the fun of an arcade game in my hands!
The best tech toy I received as a kid was my original Nintendo Game Boy. The four AA batteries seemed to last twenty minutes, but oh man did I have a lot of fun in those twenty minutes!
It is definitely BB8! Such an amazing toy!
The best tech game I’ve got as a young guy was Intellivision.
I think the coolest toy this year is the WowWee CHiP Robotic Dog.
The mambo is super cool, awesome that it has a cannon to shoot and a grabber to pick up items. Imagine the stealth missions you could do!
My favorite electronic toy as a child was NES, I would play Mario for hours. Conqured that game over 100 times and still loved it.
Nothing better than brining back the classics and with a twist. My 7 year old son loved watching star wars and especially with BB8. So going to have to say the sphero spec ed bb8 droid is one of the best this year
Hands down the best tech gift I recieved when I was younger was the original NES.
Robotic toys. My eight year old is very big into Star Wars, building bases all through the house. He would certainly like to receive more robotics for Christmas.

As a kid it would probably have to be the year my brothers and I got a Nintendo 64. So many hours spent playing classic games like Mario Kart, Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark. On Christmas morning we each unwrapped a different coloured controller. Even our Dad got one. Multiplayer gaming was born for us with that system.
My favourite tech toy as a kid was meccano building sets
The BB8 for sure is one of the coolest tech toys this year. I think with Star Wars gaining a lot of attention that toy is going to do very well. For adults who are still kids the drones are awesome.
I think the robotic toys will win. I remember getting rc cars for christmas and I absolutely loved them!

I think the osmo genius kit is one of the really cool tech toys out this year and my boys would love it!
Sphero BB-8 App-Enabled Droid with Star Wars Force Band is definitely the coolest tech toy of 2016 and I know the ultimate Star Wars fan who would love to see this under the tree!
The coolest tech toy is the ultimate drone. Very advanced technology that provides the opportunity to have fun and learn while showing off to your friends on the street! They are new enough not everyone has one! You can make new friends too!
I think the best toy this year is more for parents… the Circle with Disney which allows us to set profiles and limits on wifi devices. A great tool for mindful parents!! As for me, my favourite tech toy received as a child was definitely a Coleco Vision with Zaxon, Avengers, Lady Bug and The Smurfs!

All the toys from Best Buy 2016 are pretty cool. The robotic, the coding toys, the drones… My kids would love anything from Best Buy!
The coolest tech toy I got as a kid was a yellow 1984 Radio Shack 4X4 RC pickup. It inspired my love of RC, which is still strong even 30 years later.
Although costly for a kids toy I’d have to say the Meccano Meccanoid robots are the best tech toy for 2016. Nice to see something tech that you just don’t pull out of the box and turn on. The best tech toy I received as a child was the Robotics: Argus. Along the same lines of the Meccano Meccanoid you build it yourself.
Definitely the Sphero BB-8 App-Enabled Droid with Star Wars Force Band. My kids would think that was the coolest (as would their parents ). When I was a kid in the 80’……I remember being pumped to get a Walkman. I could leave the house and listen to my music…..it didn’t get any more awesome!
When I was a kid, I spent hours of fun with my 300-in-one electronic project kit from Radio Shack. Lie detectors and purring kitten sound effects.
The coolest toy that I received when I was younger was a battery operated robot, Super Astronaut Rotate-O-Matic! Wow! The whole family joined in the fun of what was then state-of-the-art technology. That brings back some good memories, I just wish that I had the foresight to keep it!

The absolute best new tech toy for 2016 is undoubtedly the Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K Quadcopter Drone with Camera & Controller. Absolutely the best because the Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K Quadcopter Drone takes the whole family away from passive television viewing and out on a real life adventure, even if it is only as far as your own backyard! I would like to give my 87 year old wheelchair bound father this extraordinary gift for Christmas because it will truly give him wings and allow him to soar to unimaginable heights at a whopping 35km/h ! Wait until his great-grandchildren see Grandpa fly the Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K Quadcopter Drone! They won’t ever want to go home! The Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K Quadcopter Drone brings generations of whole families together, and isn’t that what holiday gift giving is really all about?
When computers first became child friendly, the commodore, we purchased got the family. Thirty years later, both children are tech savvy and now we have three grand children, for whom I am trying to provide these skills. We had years of learning with the technology which was the foundation for good futures.

As a child my most memorable tech toy I was given was an awesome phone that you could see all the parts… loved that phone…. and my non tech but very awesome Barbie dream house… oh the memories…
