Great toys hold a special place in our hearts. They create great experiences at the time we play with them. They also leave a treasured memory that we can look back on and smile as we get older. The coolest toys do something a little extra. Really cool toys unite a generation, and sometimes multiple generations. Many of the hottest toys these days are tech toys: robots, drones etc. Which tech toy of 2016 do you think will make the biggest impression in a child’s life, or in your life? Just tell us what you think the coolest toy of 2016 is and you might win a huge trove of the newest toys from Best Buy.

There are over $12000 in toys available to be won!

bb8Every year new toys are released that have the potential to become a child’s special treasure. Best Buy carries many of these. Best Buy also has the greatest selection of tech toys. Last year I fell in love with the Sphero BB-8 App-enabled  Droid. It’s the kind of toy that will resonate in a person’s memories for decades.

(Four of the new special edition version of this droid are included in this contest’s prizes!)

You may find it difficult to decide what the coolest toy is this year. It’s not always easy to predict what will be the best toy in a given year, but really there are no wrong answers. For example, I asked my wife which tech toy she remembers as having been really cool when she was young and her answer, the Fisher Price parking garage (shown below), really surprised me! Note that Best Buy carries a Melissa & Doug version of this parking garage. I too had one of those vintage Fisher Price garages when I was young and played with it incessantly. I hadn’t thought about that toy in many years, but just the mention of it brought back a ton of great memories.

Kids nowadays may not view a parking garage as a tech toy given the options that exist. The prizes in this contest contain many of the best tech toys available in 2016. We have divided the more than $12000 in prizes into 6 toys bundles:

  1. Robotic Toys are the coolest toys. My grandson loves them.

I did not get any toys when I was a child. We were poor and could not afford toys. My Dad found a Barbie on the street somewhere once and my sister and I shared her.

  2. The coolest Tech toy I received when I was a child was an electronic game called Fabulous Fred….I LOVED that game.

  3. I I think that the coolest tech toy are the drones. It’s something that not only my child can enjoy to master intricacies flight control but it’s also something that as a father I can really get into as well . Furthermore with the addition of video on the drone, it’s something that really Enhances family videos with different shooting angles that can bring videos to life . I’m 53 years old and the coolest tech toy that I remember getting as a child was a mechano set made of metal. Also when I as 8, my dad went to Japan on business and brought back one of the first battery powered race cars that I could drive. I was the envy of the entire neighbourhood

  4. I think the coolest Tech Toy would be the Razor Power Core E90 Electric Scooter. My son would go crazy for this.

  5. I believe that any toy that promotes both fun and learning are great toys to give as gifts so my vote would go to the ultimate stem toys –
I grew up in an age when television was black and white and you had 3 channels toys were basic and what you learned was limited only by your imagination.
When I was 14 Santa brought our family a record player that “plugged in” we were thrilled to be able to play Christmas music without turning the handle.

  6. Ultimate drones. My grandson wants to be an aur traffic contoller and thus woukd be an amazing christmas gify for him.

  7. Coolest toy I think is the Sphero Spec Ed BB-8 Droid, because who doesn’t want to have that awesome little Droid in real life! (Totally a Star Wars junkie’s dream)

  8. When I was younger, I think the coolest toy I ever got was a remote controlled BeyBlade; where you could literally controlled the way it moved when you were “battling” with someone else.

  9. The coolest tech toy is the osmo coding kit. It’s both fun and educational. Plus it’s something both my boys would enjoy.

  10. The best tech gift I got as a kid was one of the electronic lab kits from radio shack was cool learning how to make electronic circuits.

  11. I love the new wowwee coding mip, it’s on my daughter’s must have Xmas gift list. But thinking back I loved my first Nintendo, my sister and I played for hours over the cold winter break.

  12. I have to say that the coolest toy I got as a child was a tape recorder!! I played with tgat for hours recording my voice, I pretended to interview every family member, as well as recording odd sounds from one of my brothers!!…one of those “pull my finger” episodes!!! hahaha!!!
