To celebrate Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas, today we’re taking a look at the best toy of 2018—the LEGO Harry Potter: Hogwarts Great Hall. Ok, I have to be honest, 2018 wasn’t exactly the greatest toy year ever. Some of the coolest stuff that is currently available at Best Buy is from the 2015-2017 range.
Still, we wanted to find something a bit newer than that to focus on today, and this LEGO Harry Potter set is pretty freaking cool! In fact, it’s probably one of the coolest LEGO sets I’ve seen in a very long time. If there’s a Harry Potter fan in your life and you’d like to learn all about what this amazing LEGO set has to offer, just keep on reading.
878 Pieces of Pure LEGO Harry Potter Fun
The LEGO Harry Potter: Hogwarts Great Hall comes with an impressive 878 individual LEGO pieces for you to assemble and enjoy. Included here are all of the necessary blocks to create the Great Hall itself, as well as various other bits and pieces that really make the set come alive.
For example, there are 10 different (human) LEGO mini figures provided, including Harry Potter himself, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Professor McGonagall, Professor Quirrell (featuring a dual Lord Voldemort—I hope it’s okay to type that name out, face), Hagrid, Dumbledore, Draco Malfoy, Susan Bones, and Nearly Headless Nick.
And just in case that part about Professor Quirrell wasn’t clear, you can turn him into… you know who simply by turning his head around… the other side of his head has a Lord V face on it.
But there aren’t just humans included in this set. You’ll also find amazing creatures like a buildable Basilisk snake(watch out for that one!), the incredible Fawkes creature, Scabbers (AKA Peter Pettigrew), and, of course, Hedwig the owl.
Inside the Great Hall you’ll find a variety of furnishings and accessories that leave no doubt as to where you are. There’s a seating area with tables, a (moveable) Grand Staircase, a fireplace, 4 floating candles, brooms hanging on the wall, 2 reversible house banners, a teapot and food items (including a small cake, a turkey leg, and some ice cream), and there’s even a trophy.
In other parts of the Hall you’ll find goodies like the Mirror of Erised (complete with changeable pictures), a treasure room with chest, and a special roosting spot for Fawkes. Much of this, in fact, is in the Great Hall’s 4 level tower.
Additional accessories include 7 magic wands for the characters to use, a lantern, an umbrella, 3 tumblers, various cauldrons and potions, a creepy spider, and the infamous sorting hat (to determine which students will be placed into which houses).
As you can see, they really do seem to have thought of everything with this LEGO Harry Potter set. In fact, the Great Hall can even be combined with the LEGO Harry Potter: Hogwarts Whomping Willow set to create an even bigger and more amazing wizarding world!

This looks so cool! I haven’t bought any new LEGO for years, but I still love it! LEGO has become so much more than it was back when I was growing up!
