DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. You should read Shelly’s article for a more in-depth descripton of some of the key features that she tested. Be sure to return to this page to learn what you need to do to enter our contest.

  1. The auto-follow feature that can lock onto subjects and follow them is pretty neat. Would love to try it out.

  2. I can wait to try to the 60 frames per second in 4K, this would help me get some awesome photos

  3. The Advanced Pilot Assistance System 3.0 (APAS) feature would be useful for a novice drone user (like me).

  4. Love the fact that it will help a user find safe/legal and indicate the maximum height restrictions too

  5. I can’t wait to use all the auto features. The automatic return to home point on low battery is an awesome feature.

  6. I want to see the range it has, I saw someone with one and it totally convinced me to pick one up

  7. Being able to explore the surrounding forest, up to 10km, on camping trips would be incredible!

  8. The auto functions would be very helpful for sure. The video quality looked good, especially with low light in the trails with obstruction avoidance option on and how it followed the mountain biker.

  9. I like the idea of having a feature that helps me to determine maximum height features for a drone.

  10. I seriously need this for school, I am working on a photography project to increase tourism in my town. I can wait to try to the 60 frames per second in 4K !! Please please let me win, I will forever be in debt to you all. I love the auto function aswell. I’ve watched 1000 videos about it

  11. The auto-follow and obstacle avoidance feature on this drone are very cool. To be able to pinpoint focus on one object/person/thing from a birds eyeview with the reassurance that you wont lose or damage your drone from surrounding structures is extremely fascinating. I would love to try this drone out and take it with me on hikes and trips (the compact nature of this drone is also a plus point in regards to convenience of transport of the drone itself).

  12. The 5,000-metre elevation and 10km transmission distance amazes me! Imagine you could really explore!

  13. The safe landing function will help me a lot because I got a drone a few years ago and ended up getting it up on someone’s roof. I hope I win as I haven’t had a drone in a while

  14. The fact that it has up to a 10km transmission distance means i can explore the shore line and the green space i live near without worry! amazing!

  15. 100% focused on the improved battery life, definitely would like to see how long it lasts in real life conditions

  16. Can’t wait to try Quick Shots (Rocket, Circle, Boomerang, and Asteroid, though I don’t fully even understand them yet), so much of this great portable drone is well automated!

  17. i cant wait to try the Acive track 3.0 and the Spotlight 2.0
this is a huge upgrade. so exciting.

  18. During this quarantine, I decided to try and learn something new and I landed on photography. I don’t have a lot of money but was able to get the DJI OSMO Mobile 3 on sale at Best Buy and have been using my phone to take some amazing videos. After watching every video on Youtube, I am now addicted to drones! Was looking at the Mavic Mini but the Mavic Air 2 trumps it in every way! 4k 60fsp, 8k Hyperlapse, OcuSync 2.0 controller, obstacle avoidance, this drone has it all. I’m eager to try it all and see what this drone can really do. Best part is, it’s easy for a novice like me to fly but good all the way up to a professional photographer. DJI is best in class and the Mavic Air 2 is by far their best product yet!

  19. Like most people the auto functions would help beginners to learn the basics of flying the drone. I think that would be helpful.
