DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. You should read Shelly’s article for a more in-depth descripton of some of the key features that she tested. Be sure to return to this page to learn what you need to do to enter our contest.

  1. Just recently lost my job, so a drone with a good flight duration would be great to lift my spirits…and the wife won’t tear me a new one spending money on a new toy!

  2. 30 minutes of fly time and auto return to home on low battery are fantastic features, would be so fun to play with on our farm.

  3. automatic return to home point on low battery and filming 4K 60 fps! Pretty impressive drone in such a small package.

  4. The auto takeoff and landing would be a great help since I would be a beginner at flying a drone

  5. Always wanted a drone to explore aerial aspects of landscaping some beautiful spots. But I found them expensive, so I wish that one day if I want a drone I will get something which is awesome, compact, and filled with crazy amount of features. I saw the launch of Mavic Air 2 and I fell in love with everything about this drone. 8k Hyper lapse with 48mp and it goes on. But my favourite is HDR and Auto exposure. We could make changes to the auto exposure by locking it to get amazing shot with same exposure even though it is in auto exposure mode.

  6. I would love the Voice prompts which let me know what the drone is doing without looking at the screen.

  7. I like how compact it easy. You dont want to carry a huge drone around. It has a lot of cool features but being able tk trasport with ease is the best selling point.

  8. I love the weight of this drone. Makes it perfect for taking it on hikes. Even with the remote being slightly large, it looks super easy to carry around.

    • Who wouldn’t like this auto take off and landing. 4k at 60 rates per second how sweet is that?

  9. The new controller looks much better for bigger phones and the ability to keep the case on unlike the original mavic pro.

  10. I am eager to see how much amazing Arial view shots I can take with its half inch camera sensor which is pretty insane for what its capable of.

  11. I have the Mavic Air 1 which I love, but I’m looking forward to the larger sensor, better image quality and 4K 60 fps!

  12. The fact that it’s foldable — I just got back from Erta Ale and Dallol in Ethiopia and this would have been perfect for photos.

  13. I love the max speed off 64 kph and the automatic take-off and landing is a great feature too!
