Best Buy Canada and Cosmo Music have teamed up to bring you a great selection of top-quality musical instruments for all your creative needs. Whether you’re trying your hand at an instrument for the first time, or a veteran looking to upgrade, a wide range of options is available online at bestbuy.ca. Cosmo brings over 50 years of music industry experience, along with a massive selection of instruments to Best Buy’s product catalog.
I got an inside look at Cosmo Music’s facilities to better understand where your next instrument is coming from.
Cosmo is a musician’s haven
I was invited to Cosmo’s flagship store in Richmond Hill, Ontario to explore their vast instrument selection and see their quality assurance process first-hand. After you place an order from Cosmo on Best Buy’s website, the instrument or musical equipment will be prepared and shipped from this store—trust me, they are in expert hands!
The facility itself is a testament to Cosmo’s commitment to everything music. The 56,000 sq. ft. multi-floored store features its own specialized instrument departments, music school, and even their own concert hall. It’s the second largest of its kind in the world, packed wall-to-wall with everything you could imagine related to music.
Each area of the store features its own instrument themed zones: pianos, guitars, drums, and more occupy their own customized spaces. These “instrument zones” also have their own expert staff who are knowledgeable about each instrument type. They have one goal in mind—to provide you with years of experience in order to get the most out of your purchase.
Cosmo’s trademark quality, expertise, and large selection now extends online with Best Buy Canada, giving you access to one of the largest selections of music-related products in North America.
Hitting all the right notes with quality assurance
Cosmo Music has been a staple in the Canadian music scene for over 50 years, growing to over 200 employees. Among their current staff are 23 expert repair technicians (the largest in the country). This team always ensures you get a top-quality instrument every time you order by going the extra mile.
I started my tour with Cosmo in their warehouse area, which is carefully climate controlled to protect all their products that are waiting for a new home. When Cosmo first receives an instrument, it is opened and inspected for any damage from the manufacturer. If anything is amiss, it will not make the cut and get sent back to the original manufacturer. Some retailers receive their instruments and immediately plop them on the shelf for sale; Cosmo Music goes above and beyond. For them, it’s all about the details. Before an instrument even enters their system, it goes through their repair shop to be examined by a qualified technician.
I was able to get a first-hand look at the process and was thoroughly impressed with the multiple step QA process. The staff delicately handled all the instruments as if they were their own. They carefully unbox, inspect, set-up, and test every stringed, brass, and woodwind instrument they sell. With the largest group of music repair technicians in Canada pouring over your instrument, you can rest assured you’ll be getting a quality product every time.
When you receive your order from Cosmo’s Best Buy marketplace, it will come with a Cosmo Music quality assurance (QA) tag. When the tag reaches you, it will have a technician’s signature which confirms that the instrument has been thoroughly inspected and meets Cosmo’s stringent QA standards. This extended inspection process guarantees that a flawless, finely tuned instrument will arrive at your door every time.
The reason I have always shopped with Best Buy Canada is their incredibly flexible return policy, and Cosmo Music’s products carry the same promise.
Both companies pride themselves on delivering top-quality products to their customers and have policies and procedures to ensure you are getting the very best. When looking for musical instruments, the search can be daunting, with so many options. It can be tough to know exactly what you are getting and how well it will play out of the box. Worry no longer, when shopping with Cosmo, their products carry one of the best warranties and return policies in the business. When ordering Cosmo products online from Best Buy Canada, you can rest assured that they will arrive in pristine, pre-inspected working condition, ready for your next jam session.
If something isn’t right, they will figure out how to remedy the issue, and they have the experts to back up that promise. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return it in unused condition within 30 days.

They are intent on shipping the best product possible to you, so it arrives in performance ready condition. Appreciate it, Very well written!
Thanks for the kind words Angelina, I appreciate it! I hope you get to try out one of the Best Buy x Cosmo instruments soon.
This is so great! I’ve already found the instrument I want! The Hofner – Violin Bass – Ignition Bass Guitar with Case – Left Handed – SunBurst. I’ve wanted a bass like what Paul McCartney used with the Beatles for a long time!
The only comment that I would make on it is that the picture on the page is of the right handed model.
Hi Ian Good choice! and yes the model showing does seem to be the right hand model. I will check with Cosmo to confirm the model and to fix the image
Great catch Ian! Once you get your instrument be sure to tag me (@dapper_tux) and @bestbuycanada on twitter, would love to see pictures of your new violin bass!
