As a vegetarian of almost a decade (and self-defined picky eater), it can be extremely difficult to ensure that I consume the recommended daily amount of nutrients, minerals and proteins. Over the years that’s led to a variety of diets, daily vitamins, and supplements, all of which have either delivered minimal results or unwanted side effects. At times, it’s felt as though my journey to further supplement my vegetarian diet could last a lifetime. But more recently, I’ve been enjoying the nutritional and physical benefits of protein powders—specifically the Vega One Protein Powder.
Protein powders are a great way for vegetarians and vegans to ensure they are getting adequate levels of protein. They are also commonly used by those interested in decreased post-workout recovery times and those looking to build muscle. But it’s important to note that not all protein powders are made equally. In fact, the majority of protein powders on the market are not plant-based, making the decision to incorporate them into a vegetarian/vegan diet a difficult one. But with the Vega One Protein Powder that fear is completely eliminated thanks to their plant-based formulation.
Vega One Pumpkin Vanilla Chai Smoothie

Whether shaken with water to create a nutritional shake, blended into my favourite smoothie recipe, or baked into a sweet treat, the Vega One Vanilla Chai Protein Powder provides outstanding flavour.
And, with the holidays long gone, it’s the perfect flavour to help nix any post-holiday cravings. I don’t know about you, but lately, I’ve got pumpkin pie on my mind. So today, I’ve created a healthy smoothie recipe that blends my love for pumpkin pie and chai tea using the Vega One All-In-One Protein Powder in Vanilla Chai. Enjoy!
Vega One Pumpkin Vanilla Chai
- 1 scoop (44g) Vega One All-In-One Protein Powder in Vanilla Chai
- 1 cup Vanilla Yogurt
- 1/2 cup Canned Pumpkin
- 3/4 cup Almond Milk (can be substituted for your milk of choice)
- 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
- Slivered Almonds (texture/garnish)
Vega One Pumpkin Vanilla Chai
Created with the help of my smoothie-astute Mother, this recipe is incredibly easy to follow and makes for a great alternative when you’re desperate for a holiday-inspired sweet.
To begin, gather all ingredients listed above, and combine within blender. I personally love the Magic Bullet as the complimentary blending cups help minimize mess, however, there is a large selection of blenders available at Best Buy, which would deliver similar results.
Once all ingredients have been combined within the blender simply pulse on high for 1-2 minutes, depending on your desired consistency. I personally like a bit of texture within my smoothie—yes, I’m also the type of person who enjoys Orange Juice with pulp. But for those who prefer a silky consistency, I would suggest either skipping the slivered almonds entirely or simply using them as a garnish.
Insider Tip: I personally like to layer the protein powder and added spices between the dense layer of pumpkin and yogurt to ensure they are mixed in thoroughly.
The End Result?
Once content with the consistency of your Pumpkin Vanilla Chai Smoothie simply remove the lid and drink! Although in this case, I’ve summoned my inner Food Magazine Editor, to display the smoothie in a beautiful stemless glass, topped with a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, slivered almonds and a cinnamon stick.
You’ve got to admit that this smoothie looks equally as delicious as a piece of pumpkin pie! And the addition of canned pumpkin completely masks the green hue typically associated with Vega One smoothies—making it an unassuming option for those who have sworn off green drinks.
Garnished or not, this smoothie is superbly decadent and truly delivers authentic Pumpkin Pie flavour. Whether used as a meal replacement on nights you’d rather skip dinner for dessert, or as a nutritious snack that helps to curb cravings between dinner and bed-time, you’ll be thrilled with the taste and benefits of this recipe.
It’s also important to note that this recipe can be re-created with any of the flavour options available from Vega One. I will admit that I prefer Vega One Protein Powder in Vanilla Chai as I find it adds the most extensive depth of flavour, but I’ve also experienced great results using the Vanilla and Chocolate flavour options.
This Pumpkin Vanilla Chai Smoothie recipe is one of my favourite ways to incorporate the Vega One All-In-One Protein Powder into my diet. Upon drinking it, I immediately notice a difference in my level of energy, and overall feeling of health—making it one of my go-to breakfast smoothies. But, with that said, I’m also eager to venture out of the smoothie-realm and add this plant-based protein powder to baked goods as well.
