Back to school Fall 2020Fall 2020 is upon us soon and for anyone returning to school, we don’t know what that’s going to look like yet. As someone who works in my local school district, I got a little taste of what this upcoming school year may look like as we finished off the last school year in June.

Organization is going to be key as we transition into September as I feel like a lot of us are going to be schooling and working in some kind of hybrid between home and on campus or in office. Take a look at some great bag options and accessories that will come in handy as we transition back to school.

Backpack options

Choosing the right bag to meet your needs is easier to do after you choose your preferred style. With the higher chances of a hybrid home/class/office system being in place for back to school, you will most likely be taking more items back and forth. Having the perfect bag to organize everything in will make the transition much smoother. Some of us, like myself, prefer the typical backpack style with the two shoulder straps as I find it easiest to carry and more comfortable on my back. Two other options are the messenger style and a briefcase.

Targus Urban CommuterThis Targus Urban Commuter 15.6″ Laptop Day Backpack is sleek and compact and has the comfortable shoulder and sternum straps that I love.

There’s plenty of room for your accessories such as school supplies and it fits up to a 15.6 laptop or tablet. The reflective dots and bike light loop keep your safety in mind and the water resistant shell will keep your things, especially your tech safe.

PKG Annex

If you’re looking for a compact messenger style bag this PKG Annex 16″ Laptop Designer Bag in light grey is stylish with plenty of pockets and storage space.

The dedicated laptop pocket will fit up to a 16” laptop or other tech and the built-in organizer and external pockets will fit any extras such as cell phones and writing utensils.

Solo Laptop BriefcaseBriefcases are another bag option and may be preferable for teachers or people who have a lot of paperwork, folders or a laptop to carry. While many have a shoulder strap option similar to the messenger style, briefcases often have a harder outer shell.

This Solo 15.6″ Laptop Slim Briefcase offers a front zip down organizer as well as a dedicated interior laptop pocket.

Targus Strata Laptop Sleeve

I noticed as we finished up this last school year with students in the hybrid home/in class learning model, many students were needing tablets for both home and in class. Some tablets were personal ones from home while some were borrowed from the school but regardless it was important to keep them safe and secure.

This Targus Strata II 15.6″ Laptop Sleeve would be a great option to keep yours or your children’s tablet or laptop safe and secure.

I’m happy to see that one of our favourite household brands Herschel will soon be joining the Best Buy family. My sons both use their backpacks and messenger style bags and we have always been happy with the quality and durability.

Necessities for back to school

Swell water bottleOnce you have your backpack sorted for back to school you may want to write a list of accessories, you’ll need to pack along for yourself or your kids. There may not be a desk or locker available to keep items and so they’ll need to go back and forth with yourself or your kids. I’m talking about school supplies like pencil cases with pens, pencils, glue sticks, scissors, highlighters, erasers, sharpeners, markers, crayons and pencil crayons. I’m assuming the “no sharing” rule will still be in place and you’ll want to be well prepared.

If a laptop, tablet or other tech will be used you may want to keep a charging cord, portable charger and some headphones in your bag. Of course, we can’t forget the other important items like food and a water bottle and even though there will be a lot of hand washing involved it’s still a good idea to have some hand sanitizer available as well.

You can find the right backpack and everything you’ll need to pack inside at Best Buy online.
