Intel consistently improves computer performance year over year for everyone, from students to artists, business people to gamers. Not surprisingly, Intel is also critical to your success at the most intensely demanding activity for any computer: PC Gaming. Enter for a chance to win a high performance, Intel powered, gaming computer from Intel and Best Buy.

All gamers are welcome

What kind of gamer are you? It’s been said that variety is the spice of life and there are many kinds of PC gamer. Some people stick exclusively to simple PC games that work on any machine; others prefer highly demanding PC games they play on custom built water-cooled machines with the fastest Intel processor available. A recent study concluded that there are six distinct types of PC gamers:

  1. Alpha: Highly enthusiastic, cross-platform, social, influential, and competitive gamer; high knowledge of PC components especially as it affects gaming.
  2. Purist:Ā PC-centric, preferring stationary, immersive gaming; likely to customize PC hardware.
  3. Enthusiast:Ā passionate about the latest gaming trend, loves PC Gaming but also mobile/smartphone gaming; moderate hardware knowledge
  4. Pragmatist:Ā hobbyist preferring stationary/solitary gaming; knowledgeable about hardware but pragmatic about which computer works for their needs
  5. On-the-go:Ā gaming on the go is most important; satisfied with easy to use PC products
  6. Casual:Ā gaming is a quick escape and usually a stationary activity; not very knowledgeable about PC hardware

Think about where you fit into this framework, and what kind of games you most like to play.

  1. i am an Enthusiast gamer , i love to play game i feel like they are the best thing for fun.
My dream machine is ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/1TB SSD/RTX 2080)
i chose this laptop as a dream machine because it is a future proof and i can play nearly every game available at present or in future and it is really good for workstation as well i i can do my CAD work on it very easily .

  2. Definitely a purist. Immersion is everything to me. my last gaming PC was built around VR games. Would love to win an Asus Rog Strix desktop.

  3. Purist. I am currently drawing up plans to build a pc into my wall and frame it. Currently trying to figure out how to incorporate my central vac to suck any dust out without not sure if it will be in my current house or if we sell in the summer but it’s happening hah.

  4. I am the On-the-go type and would love the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i5-9400F/500GB SSD/16GB RAM) – English because it looks so pretty

  5. I would say a Pragmatist as I like to get immerse in solo games like Fallout, anything from Naughty Dog, and the Just Cause series. The one online game I do play every week is GTA Online. Acer Predator Desktops seem to be great machines so I would love a Orion 3000 for some Elite Dangerous or GTA Online.

    • I am an alpha gamer as I have been interested in PC gaming and hardware since I was a child. I know all about building PC’s and PC components. Because of the Covid-19 virus, I’m stuck at home so I have been playing competitive fps for hours on end. I would like any Intel gaming PC with a Nvidia 2060-2080 as I would be able to play competitive games at a high refresh rate

  6. Definitely a purist. Must say that Alienware m15 with the Nvidia 1660ti would be a lovely addition to the family.

  7. Enthusiast – Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)

  8. I’m a Purist. Gaming on a desktop PC was the only choice for me for a long time. Always loved being hands-on and able to tweak the hardware. The kids are enjoying consoles more at home, so a nice desktop like the Asus ROG Strix may rekindle my enthusiasm again.
    Thanks for having this contest!

  9. I know I’m a purist. I’ve be building gaming PCs since I was 5. The power comes from the details. And I would go for ASUS ROG Strix III G 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660Ti)

  10. I consider myself and Enthusiast gamer. I’m also into overclocking and have been doing it from time to time on my CPU, GPU, and RAM. Going through the list, the machine of my dreams would be the Alienware Aurora Gaming PC since it rocks high-end hardware (such as a 9th gen i7, and a 2080).

  11. Even though I prefer desktops, I’d choose a Alienware m15 15.6″ Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660 Ti) because I’m a PRAGMATIST gamer with no space in my small home.

  12. I’m definitely a Pragmatist first but with a sprinkle of Alpha. If money was no object i’d take a Alienware m17 17.3″ for a laptop & desktop i’d go something like Alienware Aurora Gaming

  13. Casual gamer would be overstating how much I play these days. I’m familiar with CPU hardware. Interest in ASUS ROG Strix and/or rent.

  14. I think I would fit in Enthusiast category.
My dream machine from Bestbuy is Alienware m17 (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/RTX 2070). Too bad I can’t afford it.

  15. I’m Alpha gamer and very big passionate of tecnologie and programming world . Would be great to win a powerful gaming desktop ASUS ROG STRIX. That i can use for gaming and my programming languages like web development and software.

  16. I’m a Purist and play daily. The Acer Orion Predator 3000 would be a nice addition to my computer room. Thanks for holding this contest, and good luck to everyone

  17. I am an Alpha. I love computers and hardware and frequently keep up with latest and greatest in the PC world. I am frequently building systems for friends and family, as well as upgrading systems. Would love to get my hands on ASUS Zephyrus S or the Alienware m15 to be able to have a mobile gaming experience as I mostly game from the i5-8400 / GTX 1060 6GB system I built last year. My current dream machine sold at bestbuy would be this: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/hp-omen-obelisk-gaming-pc-intel-core-i9-9900k-512gb-ssd-2tb-hdd-32gb-ram-geforce-rtx-2080ti-eng/13501610

What more can I say? I9 9900k and a rtx 2080ti. Doesnt get any better than that!

Also p.s. Intel, where are the 10th gen desktop cpus! Waiting on their release to see how they compete with hardware available!

    • Pragmatist gamer here! I play anything from Rust to Total War. The Alienware m15 15.6″ Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660 Ti) would be my choice! My old Asus just died on me, so I’ll be crossing my fingers, toes, arms and legs!

    • I’m mostly a pragmatist, I love gaming but I also love art, which is why I really love the ASUS Zephyrus S GX502 with it’s beautiful display, powerful enough graphics for what I enjoy most, and sleek build to have the best of both the art and game worlds for me!

    • Im a mix between an alpha and a purist gamer, always looking for a competitive advantage through better hardware. Main things like fps, response time, factor into my gameplay. My dream desktop is the Dell Alienware Aurora desktop equipped with the i7-9700k and rtx 2080 because it is the most powerful and can handle any game you can throw at it while having a clean and futuristic aesthetic.

  18. I am a purist. I love pc gaming and my computer is in dire need if a upgrade. It fell out if my fifth wheel door a couple years ago and bounced down a couple steps. Has never worked right since. It constantly crashes and my graphics card display ports are slowly dying one by one. I have now moved into a house and hope one day to be able to afford this pc. Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)

  19. I would say I’m a Enthusiast gamer, and my dream rig would be a ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/1TB SSD/RTX 2080 laptop as on the move quite a bit, and I am usually away from my rig at home.

  20. I’m a gamer on the go, which makes quality gaming difficult. This is what I have my eyes set on a ASUS Zephyrus S system.
    Thank you Best Buy

  21. Purist
My desktop performs okay and is pretty. hard to upgrade due to school. How ever always been interested in trying a high end laptop. The Alienware m15 15.6″ Laptop would be it because I’d most definitely be playing ffxiv:shadow bringers on that beast.

  22. I would categorize as Enthusiast, however with extensive 30 years of computing experience. If it were to be an ultimate machine, then only the HP Omen Obelisk i9-9900k with GeForce 2080Ti would do.
Current limitations are: teens always hogging the gaming PC and nothing else in house has enough power for VR. Plus the monitor is only 60hz.
I’d pair it with an Asus 28″ 4K for easy scaling to 1080p which a 1440p monitor cannot do. 1ms timing is Asus biggest selling point and simply 28″ is as big as I can fit on desktop.
I love the versatility of a laptop, but nothing beats a killer desktop solution.

  23. I’m a pragmatist. I’ve always wanted to try Alienware gaming products, but spending money on any high end gaming rig is expensive. The Alienware m15 laptop would be ideal for me for home or on the go gaming.

  24. I’d be categorized as a purist gamer. And my dream gaming laptop/pc is one of the Asus ROG’s models.

  25. I’m clearly a Pragmatist gamer. My dream machine is a CyberPowerPC Gamer Gaming PC model GXi11160CPG

  26. I’m a purist, the ASUS ROG 17.3″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070/Win 10) – would bring wonderful gaming time

  27. I am a enthusiast at heart! I however have a System that is pretty sad that prevents me from being the gamer I would love to be. Thanks for the chance. I would LOVE the ASUS Zephyrus Laptop as the ultimate device on the go! Thanks so much for the chance!

    • Enthusiast, I really would love to have the Asus Zephyrus. I really enjoyed before to be able to play and wanted to have a better computer which can run the lastest games.

      Thanks

  28. I’m an on-the-go gamer, usually hauling around my desktop to lan parties with friends, the Zephyrus would definitely be ideal for me, or any gaming laptop really just never could afford one since desktops are cheaper that’s what I opted out for.

  29. I’d be a Casual gamer – I used to have more time for it BK (that’s Before Kids for the unininitiated). Ah, the golden days of spending hours gaming! I miss those days. I’d go for the Alienware m15 15.6″ Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660 Ti) which seems more sensible for my needs.

  30. Ow and I forgot to say my dream computer. You know what? Who beats Cybertrons computers? So I choose Cybertron workstations or gaming PC’s. ^_______^

  31. I am an alpha I have been played many consoles old and new. I have been a hardcore pc gamer for years. I started getting into pc gaming using an old macbook that could barely run minecraft and Skype at the same time without burning my legs off, eventually got myself a good setup for my gaming needs. I however never have had any luck with laptops they always ended up breaking and never getting the amount of use they should have had. I would love to get one of these new gaming laptops to finnally be able to game on the go weither it’s at a friend’s place or going to my girl friends where I wouldn’t want to pack up my whole pc setup and bring it over.

  32. I’m a purist gamer, have been for a looooong time. My first choice gaming pc from Best Buy would be the Dell G5, solid build, and I can upgrade down the toad easily. As always Best Buy is my go to website to select and parts or accessories for my pcs.

  33. I’m a casual gamer but very knowledgeable about computer’s hardware. Actually I love assembly of computers. I used to be an alpha when I was teenager but these days I’m just too busy with University to be an alpha šŸ˜‰

  34. I am a casual gamer at the moment with the hope of becoming an Alpha. Unfortunately our computer can barely handle Minecraft(keeps crashing), let alone other games we would love to play and stream. We are a family of Gamers who would LOVE to have a gaming room so we could all stream and game together. A desktop would definitely be our preference!

    • I would consider myself a purist, I have been playing computer games as long as I can remember, I built my own PC and prefer to use it, but sometimes work on the go forces me to use mobile options. The size and capabilities of the ASUS Zephyrus 15.6″ has always caught my eye, and really any ASUS has been on my radar.

  35. Closest I relate to is probably the Pragmatist. I’d probably buy an “Alienware Aurora Gaming PC”, as I love compact cases that are either easy to hide, or beautiful and can be shown off!
