LG gaming monitor contest
LG gaming monitors are the kind of upgrade gamers crave. Face it, doing anything interesting or important without a decent monitor is more challenging than it needs to be. If your monitor is slow, then you can’t help but be distracted by the latency. If your monitor presents colours that are not accurate, then you can miss important details or, at the very least, may notice them too late to benefit your performance. However, with a monitor like the LG UltraGear 27″ FHD 240Hz 1ms GTG IPS LED G-Sync FreeSync Gaming Monitor we are giving away in this contest, you will be ready to take on the most visually demanding games available.

LG displays have a reputation for excellence

You are likely familiar with the amazing televisions produced by LG. Those have been among the very best screens you can buy: a reputation that continues year after year. Their monitors are similarly impressive. However, the UltraGear line of gaming monitors stand out as a gamers ultimate choice for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons are covered in Brad Moon’s detailed review of this monitor.

To start with, the 240Hz refresh rate is amazing. Consider that many monitors are refreshing the screen at half or a quarter that rate. You might think that you never noticed that to be problematic in the past. However, there are numerous studies supporting the view that a faster refresh rate is easier on our eyes, and enables quicker reactions to changes on the screen. That isn’t likely to affect us when watching a movie, likely shot at much less than 60 frames per second. Gaming, though, is much faster as your reaction time may determine the difference between winning and losing. As you get better at gaming, you’ll want the competitive advantage that a really fast refresh rate provides.

LG UltraGear monitors ensure you’re getting the best gaming experience

Optimum performance of a monitor during gaming depends on many technologies working together. The software in the game needs to be accurately interpreted by the graphics card in your computer and the signal sent from the graphics card needs to be reliably synchronized with the refresh rate of the monitor. When this is done poorly you get visual aberrations on the screen. For example, you may have heard of screen tearing; sections of the screen seem to break away from where they should be (like if a character’s head may be several inches from their body). Obviously distracting for you and possibly fatal for the character (haha). LG Monitors have a variety of synchronization technologies built-in. NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD Radeon FreeSync keep the visual display stable. In additions, Dynamic Action Sync reduces the lag between you hitting a key or controller button, and your character responding accordingly to avoid or initiate an attack.

Gaming monitors are designed for optimum gameplay. You may, however, be thinking: we need a new TV and a new monitor but our budget this year forces us to choose one or the other. Sometimes life is about compromise. If getting the most from your gaming is the most important thing for you this year: get an LG UltraGear monitor! If you know you will need a new TV this year and will have to wait until next year for a gaming monitor, get the next best thing … an LG gaming TV! As I said, LG TVs are legendary. Their gaming TVs have incorporate many technologies to enhance gaming, despite not having all of the great features of an LG UltraGear monitor.

Then there is the possibility that you enter this contest and I draw your name in a few weeks! There is the dream: win the LG UltraGear Monitor and then buy an LG gaming TV for the best of both worlds!

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways.

  1. In a comment below, tell us which type of display you are more likely to purchase in 2022, an LG gaming monitor or an LG gaming TV and why? It’s hypothetical so please don’t say neither; choose one or the other.
  2. In a comment below Brad Moon’s review of this monitor, tell us one reason why you really want this monitor in your home.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly select two (2) winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive one of the LG UltraGear 27″ FHD 240Hz 1ms GTG IPS LED G-Sync FreeSync Gaming Monitors that we sent out for review.

This contest runs from March 11th until March 24th

Remember you can enter in two different ways as described above. However, you should also tell your friends and family, especially anyone you know who loves gaming so they too have a chance to win.

  1. A reason why I’d want this monitor is that I’d like an upgrade from my little tv, and it be great to see the ps5’s full power displayed!

  2. LG gaming monitor would be perfect for gaming on the PC or through my HDMI switch, playing Xbox. 🙂

  3. Definitely a gaming monitor, I do all of my gaming on a monitor, but my current monitor is really showing its age and performance is lacking… I’ve been eyeing the LG for quite some time now, and they are the best!

  4. I would definitely say the LG ultra gaming monitor for sure. I currently have a 10 year old monitor that I bought from best buy and would definitely like the upgrade. So choose me benevolent tech. Chief, Martin Renaud!

  5. For sure an LG Monitor, I’m at my desk all day and this would take my setup to the next level! Thanks for sharing, Martin.

  6. I am more likely to purchase a LG gaming TV because it is versatile and can be used for both gaming alone and watching TV with the family

  7. It would likely be a LG gaming TV so I can hook the PC up to it and still be able to watch all the TV channels.

  8. We would likely buy the gaming tv if only because we’re short on space and it could be used for gaming and for watching ‘tv’. I’m playing games on an older 50″ tv now. The screen size is nice but I am noticing the lag in performance.

  9. I am more likely to buy the LG gaming monitor this year than a LG tv because I’ve just upgraded my graphics card on my computer and could use a new monitor to go along with it.

  10. I am more likely to purchase a LG gaming TV because it can be used for both gaming and watching TV

  11. LG Monitor 100%, easy to haul around, plug and play easily as well, and i rather have the g-sync compatibility that a gaming TV most likely wouldn’t have.

  12. The LG Monitor 100%. With a 27in it’s easy to haul around, with a high refresh rate and minimal latency as well with the g-sync compatibility that a LG Gaming TV probably wouldn’t have, I rather a simply look with a 27in minimalistic monitor than a TV in my setup.

  13. A gaming tv as it seems more versatile and I like the adjustable stand mentioned in the review as I can not tell where my wife is going to tell me to move the stuff to next

  14. I am more likely to purchase a LG gaming TV in 2022 because I’ve been spending more time on the couch recently.

  15. LG gaming tv.

I would get that one for my bf, he has a console, but he’s always wanted to set up a little area for gaming in our spare bedroom, so the surprise to him would be amazing.

  16. Most likely to purchase the LG gaming monitor more to save space on my desk and replace a older TV that I currently use for a display.

  17. I would buy the monitor, since I just built a PC. My current monitor is like 8 years old and I need a new one.

  18. I would be more likely to purchase a LG gaming TV for its dual purpose and in the long run save on my electronics budget.
