Satechi Thunderbolt 4 hub

Satechi is one of many companies showing its wares at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. This year, the company is introducing three new computing accessories, including a new hub, charger, and SSD enclosure.

Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub

Satechi Thunderbolt 4 hub

First is the new Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub, which is designed to expand port options and provide upgraded bandwidth along with fast data transfer rates. The Thunderbolt-certified hub boasts a user-friendly design with easy access to the ports and transfer rates up to 40 Gbps. Connect the host device to the Slim Hub using the Thunderbolt 4 port and it will be ready to use. It will also charge the connected device without the need for an additional power cable. The Hub can automatically detect and adapt to the power requirements of the connected device and supports up to 60W.

It comes equipped with three Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports, all of which support speeds up to 40 Gbps and 15W charging for phones and tablets. They are also backwards compatible with USB4 and USB-C Gen 1 and 2. The USB-A port, meanwhile, supports speeds up to 10 Gbps.

Designed with Mac users in mind, and inspired by Apple aesthetics, the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub is also durable, built with aircraft grade aluminum. It’s slimmer as well, and simpler to use than the previous generation Thunderbolt 4 Dock. It can be used with Thunderbolt 4-based PCs and Thunderbolt 4/3-based Macs running MacOS 11 and later.

The hub supports up to two 4K screens at 60Hz, one 8K screen at 30HZ, or one 6K screen on M1 & M2 Macs. The Slim Hub is also compatible with the new Microsoft Surface Pro 9 laptop. It ships with a 100W power supply.

USB4 NVMe SSD Pro Enclosure

Satechi NVME SSD Pro enclosure

Designed to help improve transfer speeds and extend the life span of SSDs, the Satechi USB4 NVMe SSD Pro Enclosure is made of high-quality aluminum. It supports USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 high-speed SSDs with an upstream port transmission speed of up to 40Gbps. The enclosure is ideal, says Satechi, for expanding storage, to use while upgrading systems, backing up files, and retrieving, recovering, and transferring data.

The durable build allows for sufficient heat dissipation to prevent devices from overheating. Constructed with a polycarbonate casing, the enclosure always stays within standard operating temperature.

It works via plug-and-play installation without the need for extra drivers or tools. It’s also compact in size, easy for using on the go.

The SSD Pro Enclosure is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. It supports M.2 NVMe Drives in multiple sizes (2280/2260/2242mm) up to 16TB max.

Satechi’s USB4 NVMe SSD Pro Enclosure will be available Q2 2023; stay tuned to learn more about Canadian availability.

200W 6-Port PD GaN Charger

Satechi 200W GAN charger

The Satechi 200W 6-Port PD GaN charger has six USB-C PD ports supporting a total power output of 200W, making it Satechi’s most powerful charger to date. The charger is also equipped with advanced power distribution that automatically adjusts wattage when new devices are detected.

The charger features next-generation Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. According to Satechi, GaN technology is three times as efficient as silicon-based chargers in converting power to electricity. This, in turn, results in faster charging and better power efficiency.

The six USB-C PD ports include two USB-C PD 3.1 and four USB-C PD 3.0, able to power to six devices simultaneously. The advanced power distribution automatically adjusts based on the number of ports used and devices connected. This results in 140W when one device is connected to PD1 or PD2 and up to 200W total when additional ports are used.

Meeting CE and ETL certifications for efficient and safe charging, the charger is recommended for use with certified charging cables. It is compatible with Apple, Thunderbolt, and USB-C devices, and comes with a detachable power cord for easy storage.

The Satechi 200W 6-Port PD GaN Charger is expected to begin shipping Q2 2023.
