Home theatre has evolved to be so much more than just a big TV on a stand in a dark room; companies like Dolby Labs and IMAX have been working with standards bodies and alliances such as the Blu-Ray group to help deliver an experience that meets and in some cases even exceeds what you can see, hear, and feel in the theatre. This article acts as a guide for the baseline of what you need and how to get the most out of that equipment for the best home theatre experience.  

Last weekend I was driving in the sunshine when a song from the early ‘90s came on the radio. Within seconds I was transported back in time to a summer when my entire existence revolved around a certain boy. That boy is no longer in my life, but the fact that he was the first thing I thought of when that song started playing got me thinking about the crazy relationship between music and love.     At CES earlier this year, quantum dot technology was touted a big thing in TV technology for 2015. Although quantum dot TV technology has been around for a few years, it hasn’t really been produced in TVs yet. LG is about to release a couple of new 4K UHD models, one of which is a quantum dot TV. What was great is that I got to test them out side-by-side and see the difference this makes. Both models were excellent sets with extremely clear pictures as you would expect with 4K sets, but the UF9500 with quantum dot technology did have better colour.

        I was pretty excited to review this Audio Technica turntable, as it was a good opportunity to digitize some of my older classic vinyl records. This turntable is also a higher quality machine that is full of the features that I was looking for. It has a lot of flexibility since you can digitize LPs, play them through a receiver, a computer or directly through speakers. It also has DJ capabilities to create a lot of special effects, whether you are a DJ or not.
