Insignia Bottom Freezer FridgeWhen you’re looking for a smaller fridge for a condo, apartment, or small home, you might think you won’t be able to find a fridge with as many features as some of the larger models. Options like bottom freezers, freezer drawers, and deli drawers aren’t always available in a smaller fridge, so it was nice to see them in the compact Insignia bottom freezer refrigerator (coming soon).

Installing Insignia bottom freezer fridge

Setting up the Insignia Bottom Freezer Refrigerator is very easy. Pull the top of the box over the fridge and lift it off the styrofoam base plate. It’s easy to move into position once it’s out of the box, and there are small adjustable feet on the bottom of the fridge that you can use to level it.

Insignia Bottom Freezer Fridge review

The Insignia Bottom Freezer Refrigerator has a nice, sleek style, and I think it would blend well in every kitchen. The surface of the stainless steel fridge is not certified fingerprint resistant, but it doesn’t smudge when you touch it either. It’s also not overly tall, so it’s easy to open and close both the top and the bottom.

Recessed door handles

I love the lack of door handles on the Insignia Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. It gives the fridge a very modern style. The top of the doors are recessed, so you can just reach in and pull it open.

Roomy fridge interior

Bottle Zone Insignia fridge

11.5 cu. ft. of space doesn’t seem like a lot of room, but when it’s laid out the way it is in the Insignia bottom freezer fridge, it’s more than enough room for groceries for a small family. Everything in this fridge is set up to keep you perfectly organized.

The glass shelves are adjustable so you can move them around when you need to. There is a crisper for your fruits and vegetables as well as a deli drawer that sits neatly under the crisper drawer. The deli drawer is the perfect spot for meat, cheese, and any other deli items you’d like to store.

On the side door of the fridge are several shelves. These shelves can move on the door so you have storage flexibility. For example, if you’d like more room on one side of the door for sauces or other condiments, you can adjust both shelves to make space.

The lower shelf on the door is called a ‘Bottle Zone’ and it’s the perfect spot for wine, soda, water, and jugs of milk.

Well organized lower freezer

I absolutely love having a drawer in the freezer, so it’s great to see one in the Insignia Bottom Freezer Fridge. It’s the perfect place to store things you’d like to access all the time like popsicles, ice cream, ice cubes, or meat.

This fridge includes an ice bucket, ice cube tray, and an ice scoop. You can fill up the ice bucket and always have ice on hand. The ice bucket will fit in the drawer too.

The shelves in the Insignia freezer are adjustable too, so if you have a lot of larger frozen items you can just adjust the shelf accordingly.

Separate controls for fridge and freezer

You can adjust the temperature for the fridge and the freezer separately. The fridge temperature controls are inside the fridge by the light. The freezer temperature controls are behind the crisper drawer.

It’s nice that the freezer has separate temperature controls. You don’t always want your fridge in the coldest setting, but you might want your freezer at that level. It’s easy to pull out the crisper drawer and move the control to cold or coldest when you need to.

Energy Star refrigerator

Appliances need to run 24/7, so it’s great when they are Energy Star rated like the Insignia bottom freezer refrigerator. It has a base energy consumption of 345 kw per year, so it definitely uses less energy than some refrigerators. Given the high cost of power, it’s nice when you can have an appliance that’s designed to save power.

The Insignia Bottom Freezer Refrigerator runs quietly too. I plugged it in and it began cooling immediately, but the motor wasn’t loud at all. Even in a quiet room, you’ll barely hear it humming as it operates.

Should you choose the Insignia bottom freezer refrigerator?

If you have a small home but you want a family-sized refrigerator, I think the Insignia 11.5 cu. ft. bottom freezer fridge is a perfect size. Not only does it have the space you need, but it’s also so well organized inside that you’ll have room to spare.

The deli drawer and the freezer drawer are my favourite parts of this fridge. They give you dedicated room for snacks both cold and frozen. I would store cheese, sandwich meat, and other snacks like juice boxes in the deli drawer. There’s a ton of room inside.

The adjustable shelves on the door and inside the fridge and freezer really give you the freedom to store all types of groceries. If you have something like a party platter you need temporary storage for, you can just move a shelf around. I also like how you can store bottles of wine or bottles of soda on the door. It saves a ton of space on the interior shelves that you can use to store something else. You can find your own Insignia bottom freezer refrigerator (coming soon) at Best Buy.
