Modern Warfare 4’s Campaign puts South Korea at the centre of the war

Modern Warfare 4’s Campaign centres on a new front line for the series. Private Park, a young South Korean soldier, is pulled into combat for the first time as the invasion begins. His story follows the immediate ground-level fight in South Korea, with missions built around front-line combat and occupied territory.

Captain Price also returns, but his role has shifted. He is operating outside the usual chain of command. He is also away from the Task Force 141 team he once worked with. His side of the story follows a more personal mission connected to the wider conflict.

Modern Warfare 4’s Campaign also moves beyond Korea as the conflict spreads. Confirmed missions include close-range fighting in New York, night operations in Mumbai, and high-speed action through Paris. Larger battles are also tied to reclaiming occupied areas.

Multiplayer adds Kill Block and deeper weapon tuning

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer mode, the focus is on quicker decisions and clearer aiming. You also get more control over your loadouts. Ballistic Authority is one of the main new additions. It connects weapon handling, aiming behaviour, camera movement, field of view, audio, and target visibility. That keeps combat feedback more consistent. Weapon bloom has also been removed from hipfire. In practical terms, close-range fights should be clearer when you’re reacting quickly and firing without aiming down sights.

At launch, Multiplayer includes 12 new core 6v6 maps. There are also dedicated Gunfight maps and Big War maps for vehicle and infantry battles. Kill Block is a dynamic battleground with more than 500 configurations. Kill Block changes paths, cover, and sightlines from round to round. Learning the space won’t be as simple as memorizing one layout. Multiplayer also supports cross-play and cross-progression, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version adds optional Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

Customization is getting more attention too. Gunny is a new weapon-building tool that helps you create loadouts based on your preferred style and unlocked attachments. Apex Attachments unlock at max weapon progression and change how a weapon behaves. Long-term progression has a more noticeable reward. Prestige also has two paths. Classic Prestige brings back the reset-style approach. Regular Prestige offers a path that does not relock Create-a-Class content.

DMZ returns as an extraction mode

DMZ is back in Modern Warfare 4 as an extraction mode. Each deployment is about entering a hostile zone and taking on objectives. You collect gear or mission items, then decide when to get out. The risk comes from pushing too far before extracting, especially when conditions change during a run.

This version of DMZ is set in a large conflict zone. It is being built as a more complete version of the earlier beta. You can head in alone or with a squad. From there, you recover military technology, complete mission objectives, and react to changing weather and hostile forces across the map.

If you liked the idea of DMZ but wanted more structure, the mode is back. Its return is a major part of Modern Warfare 4. More information is expected before launch, but DMZ already sits beside Campaign and Multiplayer as one of the core modes.
