New Game+ Expo

This summer is a first for many things in the gaming world. And, today a coalition of developers from Japan and North America showcased new and upcoming games in the first ever New Game+ Expo. This digital event featured 14 video game publishers and included new title announcements and gameplay demos.

Over 40 games from some of our favourite publishers including SNK, WayForward, Sega of America and Natsume Inc. were shown. Although we can’t cover all 40 plus games shown, we’ve picked 5 games that piqued our interest on the Best Buy Blog that we’ll take a look at.

Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded

Launching October 13, 2020 on Nintendo Switch, Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded is an action platformer detailing Prinny’s rise to becoming a hero. The game features two chapters: Can I Really Be the Hero and Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!.

In addition to the 2 action-packed chapters, the game features updated graphics, fast-paced gameplay and your favourite faces from the DISGAEA series. I’m looking forward to all the dark comedy and explosive action from DISGAEA series when Prinny 1•2: Exploded and Reloaded launches this fall! Make sure and check out the trailer below, dood!

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV

Reunite with Class VII in Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV for PlayStation 4 on October 27, 2020 and on Nintendo Switch in 2021. Boasting the largest roster in series history, heroes from all over the world unite with Crossbell’s Special Support Section and even the heroes of Liberl.

Giant mechs and Lost Arts magical spells deliver massive attacks during major combats, while the Auto Battle mode and mini games offer lighter challenges. The story takes place shortly after the ending of Trails of Cold Steel III, the heroes of Class VII find themselves against the full force of the Empire in an attempt to stop its path of total domination.

Further, the hero of the Erebonian Civil War and Class VII’s instructor, Rean Schwarzer, has gone missing. Now, the students of Class VII create the only chance the world has to be spared from total destruction.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2

Classic-style Bloodstained action returns in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, coming soon for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The 8-bit saga continues with a brand-new immersive story directed by IGA himself, which contains multiple scenarios and outcomes.

This game features 3 new playable characters from the Bloodstained universe including Dominique. These new playable characters are obtained as you make your way through the game and introduce new gameplay and stage traversing strategies.

Mad Rat Dead

Mad Rat Dead is a rhythm platformer that is coming to both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Launching October 30, 2020, you play as a rat who gets to redo his last day on Earth. Sounds weird doesn’t it? You must keep his heart pumping in time with the music and clear stages within the time limit.

Colourful and funky visuals, addictive soundtracks and the ability to rewind make for a unique experience that I can’t wait to play this Halloween.

Harvest Moon One World

Today, we got a first look at Natsume’s Harvest Moon One World. And, it’s scheduled to release this fall on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game is being developed with an all-new engine and graphics and looks like it will boast some fairly big new maps.

Fledgling farmers explore an entire world full of new and familiar faces, unique villages, and adventurous challenges while managing their growing farm.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

New Game+ Expo closed out by debuting the newest entry in the beloved legacy from Falcom, Ys IX: Monstrum. The game features and allows you to play as any of the six notorious Monstrums, each with their own unique Gifts.

There is a massive city to explore and accept quests to aid the local inhabitants.  Moreover, familiar gameplay mechanics such as Flash Dodge and Flash Guard allow you to out maneuver your enemies. And, new additions such as Gifts and Boost Mode further enhance your ability to fight. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021.

New Game+ Expo 2020 was filled with exciting games

With over 40 games shown today, New Game+ Expo was a success! With a decisively Japanese gaming flair, fans were treated to some surprises from their favourite developers. While we didn’t get a clear glimpse of No More Heroes 3, SUDA51 gave us a good enough look to get excited about the game.
