Star-Crossed World expansion details
To unlock the new Star-Crossed World content, you’ll first need to complete Natural Plains, the opening area from the original game. Once unlocked, the expansion sends Kirby into a mysterious realm filled with shattered landscapes, floating crystals, and strange creatures called Starries.
Kirby also gains four new Mouthful Modes: High Jump, Spring Mouth, Gear Mouth, and Sign Mouth. Each one changes how you move through the world, from smashing into enemies to climbing walls or gliding down slopes. The meteor’s impact has also opened up new areas, letting you explore rooftops, submerged paths, and other previously blocked locations.
The Beast Pack is now stronger, and you’ll face newly added enemies throughout the expansion. You’ll also collect Starry Coins in each stage, which can be traded with Astronomer Waddle Dee for new figures. For a bigger challenge, visit the Colosseum for The Ultimate Cup Z EX, a tougher boss rush designed for long-time Kirby fans.

Lighting, reflections, and particle effects have been updated throughout, giving the world a cleaner and more polished look. The Star-Crossed World expansion also uses improved effects and environments built for Nintendo Switch 2. Subtle updates to character models and backgrounds help everything look sharper while staying true to the game’s original style.

Local two-player co-op is supported, just like the original version. One person controls Kirby, while the other joins as Bandana Waddle Dee, spear in hand. I played the original game with my son, and it became one of our favourite weekend rituals. He loved floating around as Kirby while I cleared the path as Waddle Dee. Even when we weren’t making real progress, it still felt fun just wandering and experimenting together. That kind of co-op is perfect for family play. There’s no pressure to win or rush. It’s just about sharing the moment.
This new edition keeps that same fun but runs smoother and looks even better. I can’t wait to jump back in and see how much more fluid it feels on Nintendo Switch 2.
