Enhance your gaming experience

3D audioAudio plays a very important role in your overall gaming experience. After all, it’s the soundtrack of a game and the environmental sound effects that helps make a game world believable. A developer can convey emotion, flesh out the game world setting, and create an ominous sense of dread, all by using sound.

Over the years, audio headsets have evolved from mono, to stereo, to surround sound, and now finally 3D audio. Unlike stereo or even surround sound headsets, which are channel-based, 3D audio headsets are not limited to a number of channels. Where stereo audio headsets are two-channels, and surround sound audio headsets can be from five to seven channels, 3D audio headsets have an infinite number of channels from a full 360 degrees.

You might be wondering whether you should invest in one of these headsets or not. Or, even it it’s worth the money. With that said, let’s take a look at how 3D audio headsets can enhance your gaming experience.

Hear precisely where your opponents are

3D audioAs a gamer, I am always looking for ways to get an advantage over my opponents. There is nothing more worrisome than having an enemy pop up, from seemingly nowhere, behind me in a game. The majority of the time, once I realize someone is behind me, it’s too late.

As you may now, today’s games require precise and accurate movements. Many rely on audio queues throughout the game. A 3D audio headset creates a hyper realistic auditory experience and allows you to pin point the exact location of your opponent. With lightning fast reactions to sound queues such as footsteps and gunfire, your enemies will never know what hit them.

Games like Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: WWII, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds benefit greatly from a 3D audio headset.

A richer sense of immersion

A 3D audio headset has never been more important in enhancing your gaming experience than it is today. With the increase in popularity of Virtual Reality headsets such as the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift—a 3D audio headset is a must. Beyond 3D graphics and VR environments, 360-degree audio is the key to creating a truly immersive new world for a realistic experience.

These headsets allow us to hear what’s going on around us. Hearing a door creaking behind you, or bird signing in the tree and then looking up or behind you to see it, is a hair raising experience.

  1. I can relate to the whole “detecting enemies with sound” problem. I’m using stereo headphones at the moment and it’s often very hard to realize if someone is right around the corner or behind me.

    • Hi George! I had that very same problem before I upgraded my headset. Believe me when I tell you, it’s well worth the investment. Locating my enemies is so much more easier now. Nobody is going to sneak up on me now!
