The excitement around Summer Game Fest 2023 kicked into high gear during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. Today, Xbox shared 27 games, 21 of which will be available on Xbox Game Pass / PC Game Pass on day one and a few announcements!
We got updates on highly anticipated games such as Starfield, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and learned about new games such as South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution, unitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Dungeons of Hinterberg and 33 Immortals—just to name a few. The new Carbon Black Xbox Series S with 1TB SSD
One of the many highlights of today’s digital showcase from Xbox was the announcement of the brand new Carbon Black Xbox Series S console with 1TB SSD storage. It’s no secret that the Xbox Series S has been selling extremely well for Xbox, as it offers an extremely affordable entry into modern day gaming. However, one complaint that I’ve heard many talk about on the Xbox Series S is the relatively small 512GB SSD that comes equipped on the console.
Xbox listened and now has yet another option in the Xbox family of devices with the Carbon Black Xbox Series S. Not only is the Carbon Black Xbox Series S the same colour as the Xbox Series X, it also comes with 1TB of storage space for your games and apps. That’s double the storage space of the original Xbox Series S!

New look at Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty introduced by Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves, who is reprising the role of Johnny Silverhand, showcased a brand new expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077. Phantom Liberty, is a massive expansion that takes you to a brand new district of Dogtown. It’s filled with new characters, gameplay mechanics and what looks like a narrative that is full of intrigue and espionage.
If you have been waiting to play this expansion, you won’t have to wait long. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26, 2023!
Forza Motorsport is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC and Cloud Gaming
Yet another one of today’s highlights from the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 is Forza Motorsport. Xbox announced that this game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC and Cloud Gaming. Forza Motorsport is set to launch October 10, 2023 and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass! Forza Motorsport will launch with 20 rebuilt tracks with multiple layouts and five brand new tracks never seen in a Motorsports game. In addition, the game will launch with over 500 cars at launch.
Xbox says that it plans to expand and evolve the game over time. They will do this with new online events, cars, tracks and championships. More info about the game and its features will be released soon.
Star Wars Outlaws official world premiere trailer
The first official world premiere trailer from Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft debuted at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. And, it was awesome! Star Wars Outlaws is the first open world Star Wars game. It takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. You play as Kay Vess along with your companion Nix. The trailer showcased new and iconic Star Wars locations as Kay is in a fight for freedom.
Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled to release in 2024. We’ll have more information on Star Wars Outlaws in the weeks and months to come.
Stream select PC Game Pass games on Nvidia GeForce NOW
Game Pass members will soon have the option to play certain PC games using Nvidia’s GeForce NOW game streaming service. This means you’ll be able to play select PC Game Pass games via the cloud where GeForce NOW is available. Xbox plans to roll this feature out to Nvidia GeForce NOW in the coming months. Avowed release date announced and first gameplay trailer
During the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, we were given a fresh look at Avowed through its first gameplay trailer. Avowed expands upon the universe introduced in the original Pillars of Eternity games. It presents a fresh perspective, a different combat style, and introduces a new realm to explore in the world of Eora.
In this game, you’ll embark on an adventure through the Living Lands, an untamed island within the Eora world. Notably, companions will play a significant role in your journey. The first companion you’ll encounter is Kai, who is one of the few friendly faces you’ll encounter.
The development team at Obsidian Entertainment have made first-person combat a big focus of the game. And, they have added a variety of different ways to fight. In addition to swords, magical spells and pistols, you will also have the ability to dual wield. More details will be revealed as the release date approaches in 2024. Avowed will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one.
