Many people have been anticipating the arrival of the newest version of Persona in Canada (read a full review of the game by Gaming Editor Paul Hunter) I’m happy to say that it is here at Best Buy. To help celebrate, Best Buy and video game publisher Atlus, are giving away 3 copies of the game: 2 Steelbook Launch Editions and one Take Your Heart Premium Edition (prizes shown above).
What is special about Persona 5
Person 5 is a role playing game set in Tokyo. You assume the character of a high school student: he and his friends, live double lives. As the rebellious Phantom Thieves of Hearts, the group of troubled youth spend part of their time using fantastic powers, to enter the hearts of corrupt people to basically destroy the evil and transform them. This series is wildly popular so you know that Persona 5 is going to be huge gaming hit in 2017.
Our gaming writer, Paul Hunter, received an advance copy of Persona 5 and quickly wrote a mini-review after trying it out for a few hours so we could learn a little about this new game (go here for his full review). His more detailed review is forthcoming next week after many hours spent discovering all that is new and exciting about this version of the game. Here are a few of his early observations:
- includes many gorgeous cutscenes :Everything looks superb, perhaps the best anime-style cutscenes in a video game yet
- it is chatty
- fights I’ve be in so far have been very much traditional Persona fare
- Legendary composer Shoji Meguro is back to score Persona 5: the soundtrack is upbeat and inspired
Read Paul’s initial impressions then come back here to let us know what you are looking forward to the most in the Persona 5.

I love every feature of the persona series! But if I had to pick one it would be the length of the games. I’m looking forward to spending 100+ hours in this game and still wanting more after finishing the whole game!
I love JRPGs as much as the next guy or gal but what I’m looking forward to the most is roaming the streets of Tokyo. I spent a few weeks there and I’ve heard this game is so good it really feels like you’re back there. Take me back!
I love the social links aspect of the game series. At times, I feel like I am playing a dating simulator type of game in the day time, and dungeon crawling at night =)
I’m looking forward to an amazing story line.
The music and social-link feature of the Persona series.
Hoping to see more in game videos
I love that you can visit an accurate representation of Shibuya.
Just looking forward to a great story and soundtrack
Looking forward to the graphics/visuals, I’m a fan of the unique look this game has.
My favourite feature is the high-res cutscenes! Love to watch them.
Great story line.
looking forward to an amazing story line.
Characters progression! Always a highlight of past Persona games, and that needs (probably will) continue in 5!\
Great review Paul!
I hope to see more complexity in the way the social aspect of the game works. I love the way different responses can change the course of a battle, and increase your proficiency in certain areas of the characters personality.
Love the artwork. Hope to see it in high quality.
I hope to see more 3D fights and persona against the darkness.
I love the social links, the battle system and the entire visual and slice of life!
Not your typical story content. Look forward to a rewarding combat system.
Not your typical story content. Looking forward to a great combat system. Looks like it rewards those who take the time to understand the mechanics.
Love with everythings , music, stories, nice combat !!
That style. That silky smooth, unrestrained, lovingly-crafted style.
In personally love how Persona games are extremely long and take forever to fcomplete.
I love that the music helps shape and define environments, while reinforcing the current mood of the game.
Very much excited by the refined battle system, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t seduced by its absolutely gorgeous visuals – it looks like an anime come to life in videogame form!
I love the social link part of the persona series that we can develop throughout the course of the game. I hope it continues to be as great in Persona 5 like it was in the games before it.
My favourite feature that I’d like to see in P5 is the New Game Plus from P4 Golden
I love the turn base battles
Having just gotten back from a trip to Japan, I’m curious to see what they’ve done to recreate the various wards of Japan. Persona games always do such a great job of capturing the look and feel of the city, that it’ll be a blast going back there, especially in a game, as they’ll stylize the heck out of it.
I love the characters and how the story is shaped around these characters. Additionally, it is extremely fun to play. Lots to collect and lots to learn!
I love everything about the game but my favourite part is the social sim and time management aspects!
I hope they will have music as good as the 4.
I love the turn based system and the art style
I really love the social link system! I am looking forward to try the Confidant system in Persona 5!
I’ve heard great things about the Persona games. I hear the hand-crafted dungeons in this game are amazing and personalized puzzles keep the game interesting and well paced.
I’m a big fan of the turn-based battle system that is so hard to come by in many games these days!
Love the music as well as the relationship building/individual character stories.
I love the perfect soundtrack and story line
Really enjoy the characters and their interactions!
More dialogue!
its gotta be the turn based battle system
For me it’s gotta be playing a great modern turn based battle game
I always loved the Persona Fusions!
I love the social link system!! I love the boost in combat abilities and benefits. I also like learning a bit of the back story and having a more personal relationship with the characters
I want the Social Link System to stay! I love how it helps you learn the backstories a bit more and also the improved attacks and benefits. They already improved on it from 3 to 4 so 5 can only get better right??
I love the perfect soundtrack and story line. Persona 5 helps decide how to spend your time and there are the best social stat-building activities in the game.
I love the music and the best story line ever! Persona 5 helps you decide how to spend your time, it’s the Best Social Stat-Building Activities. Can’t wait to play it.
I would love to see the world of Persona again through the beautifully told stories, vivid details of day-to-day life and touchy music !
My favourite feature that I would love to see in P5 is the ability to fight with my friends in the cloud where they dont have to be at tour home to fight one another. I hope they add more cutscenes in the game too.
The music
I love the characters in the persona games and the fact that they are not scared to explore difficult topics such as homosexuality. Also I enjoy the combat sytem (:
