Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

My favourite Nintendo memory was when I was a kid, my brother and I snuck out to the living room to play Baseball Stars on the NES. We had rented the game from the local video store. We got caught and were grounded from playing the NES for a month. We had saved up our allowance to rent the game and we had to wait a long time to rent it again.
Playing duck hunt on my original Nintendo is a memory that I will never forget!

The Legend of Zelda because i can remember way back probably 30 years ago, playing this game with my 10 year old son and seeing how excited he would get when he found a secret power or reach another level.
Getting n64 for Xmas as a kid and playing banjo Kazooie nonstop!
When my parents were in their 60’s they bought Donkey Kong from someone. I remember playing it for hours with my Mom. I was getting quite upset because I was convinced the controller didn’t work so Dad took it apart and said there was nothing wrong with it. Eventually I got better at that game and had to agree there was nothing wrong with the controller – it was just me.
Playing Mario kart on the Wii with my daughters. So much fun.
Playing Tetris on my nephew’s gameboy !! My stacking skills are still awesome. LOL

My favorite memories are my son trying to teach me to play Mario Cart. I was so bad at it and he would just laugh and laugh while he kicked my butt! I didn’t care about losing just loved spending that time with him. We would have snacks and drinks and make an afternoon of it! Great memories!

My favourite Nintendo memory is of playing Mario Kart 64 with my friends after school! I moved, so I went to a new school and had to make new friends. This was the first time I had visited a new schoolmate’s home and I had never played Mario Kart 64 before! The three of us had so much fun that we forgot to eat our snacks!
My first console was an Atari and my brother and I loved Donkey Kong on it!

Super Mario is So Cool!
My fondest memory would have to be getting both an Nintendo 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time for Christmas, and totally being in awe as I played a 3D game for the first time. I spent hours just walking around Kokiri Forest as a kid haha
Finally finishing Super Mario World for N64 was my favourite Nintendo memory because some levels were very challenging and I was glad to have finally passed them all.
My very first system was a Sega Genesis and my first game was Bernstein Bears
My very first console was a Atari, and I can remember playing Donkey Kong on it!
When I was a kid my mother and dad bought me a Sega Genesis and my first game was Sonic the Hedgehog. Pooh Lala the memories!
I can remember when I was 6 years old my mother bought me a Nintendo Game Boy and my first couple games were Blades of Steel and Mario Brothers and Tetris. That was my intro to gaming!
My favourite Nintendo memory is when i was about 11 years old and my siblings and I received an NES system with Super Mario Bros game. We were so thrilled! We set up this little 14 inch tv in the closet on a low shelf in our bedroom and we played it non stop, like literally left it on pause when we had to go eat dinner or do chores cause you couldn’t save your progress mid game. One day we could smell hot electrical smell and went in the room and the tv was overheating and melting from a lack of airflow in the closet! The game system was ok and my parents let us get a new tv and placed it on a stand and we were able to continue our gaming! One game, all day, every day, the best!
Finally beating Bowser together with my sister when playing Super Mario World on the SNES. My sister and I never really got along, so this memory sticks out because it was one of our few true bonding moments.
Playing Mariocart 64 and having my kids kick my butt! Thanks for the opportunity
playing my first mario game
Playing Super Mario and Wave Race on my Gameboy at Christmas! My first and only console until I was in my late teens! It went everywhere with me!!!
