Many people have accessed Samsung Health using their Samsung smart watch, like Samsung Watch 3 or a Samsung smartphone. However, you can also get access to both free and paid fitness, activity and wellness services right on your Samsung smart TV, with Samsung Health on TV.
How to access Samsung Health on TV
Integrated directly in a Smart TV menu (or launcher bar), “Samsung Health provides an immersive, content-forward experience that allows users to discover and access health and wellness content from leading industry partners, all from the comforts of their home,” according to a blog post on the company’s website.
With all of us spending more time at home now, Samsung says its Samsung Health platform is meant to help customers get fitness and wellness into their daily routines.
You can browse content to find workouts, yoga or breathing exercises, set up daily fitness routines, set up challenges for yourself or friends and naturally the on-TV, Samsung Health platform will integrate with your Samsung wearable to sync your progress. You can also set up profiles for everyone in the family so you can have tailored fitness options.
Which Samsung TVs have Samsung Health on TV available?
The app is available on select 2020 Smart TVs including all QLED models, Lifestyle TVs such as the Frame, Sero, and Serif, and Premium UHD TVs models TU 8000 and above.
What about older TVs?
Samsung says, “due to the advanced technology involved, it is not available to older TVs at this time. However, we are working on rolling the service to 2018 and 2019 Samsung Smart TVs. Exact timeline and model specifications are still TBD. Please check back later for more details.”
Canadian apps and partners for Samsung Health
Samsung has partnered with several fitness and wellness companies to provide guided workouts, meditations and more. In Canada, Calm, Jillian Michaels, barre3, obé fitness, FitPlan and Echelon are available. Samsung says more partners will be coming in the future.
How is this different from the Samsung Health mobile app ?
You might be wondering how the new Samsung Health on TV is different from the Samsung Health app for iOS and Android. In short, mobile is for metrics, TV is for content.
The mobile app runs independently of the TV app and Samsung says it remains focused on helping you track key wellness metrics and manage your personal health. The TV app, explains the company, “offers a more content-driven experience with health and wellness content that helps you reach or maintain your fitness goals.”
