Great toys hold a special place in our hearts. They create great experiences at the time we play with them. They also leave a treasured memory that we can look back on and smile as we get older. The coolest toys do something a little extra. Really cool toys unite a generation, and sometimes multiple generations. Many of the hottest toys these days are tech toys: robots, drones etc. Which tech toy of 2016 do you think will make the biggest impression in a child’s life, or in your life? bb8Every year new toys are released that have the potential to become a child’s special treasure. Best Buy carries many of these. Best Buy also has the greatest selection of tech toys. Last year I fell in love with the Sphero BB-8 App-enabled  Droid. It’s the kind of toy that will resonate in a person’s memories for decades.

(Four of the new special edition version of this droid are included in this contest’s prizes!)

 

You may find it difficult to decide what the coolest toy is this year. It’s not always easy to predict what will be the best toy in a given year, but really there are no wrong answers. For example, I asked my wife which tech toy she remembers as having been really cool when she was young and her answer, the Fisher Price parking garage (shown below), really surprised me! Note that Best Buy carries a Melissa & Doug version of this parking garage. I too had one of those vintage Fisher Price garages when I was young and played with it incessantly. I hadn’t thought about that toy in many years, but just the mention of it brought back a ton of great memories.

Kids nowadays may not view a parking garage as a tech toy given the options that exist. The prizes in this contest contain many of the best tech toys available in 2016. We have divided the more than $12000 in prizes into 6 toys bundles:

  2. I am so old, the coolest tech toy i received as a child was a Merlin, anyone remember those? The handheld with number pad and you could play about 10 games on it?

  8. Coolest tech toy I received was a large, wireless, RC VW Bug. It was about 2 1/2 feet long and man it could move! Great range in the remote too – that car could be 6 or 7 houses away without any problems. It made great engine sounds and of course had the classic Bug horn. Always wanted a real one, so this was so much fun.

  9. It’s either drones or nintendo for me but to be fair I have played nintendo games and handheld devices ever since I was a kid so it would be nice to reliv3 those awesome memory’s

  12. The coolest tech toy I received when I was little was a train set for the family. it was something that we all liked to do and we played with it together.

  14. The coolest tech toy I received when I was younger definitely has to be the Nitendo game system. I can play Mario Cart for hours.

  16. I think the coolest toy available at Best Buy for 2016 has to be the Sphero BB-8 App-Enabled Droid with Star Wars Force Band. I’m not a big Star Wars fan but seems cool to own your own droid and control with your phone.

  17. The Sphero BB-8 is pretty cool, but I suspect this year’s big tech toy will be an affordable drone, like the Parrot Mambo Quadcopter Mini Drone with Camera.

  18. The coolest tech toy I received when I was younger was a kid-friendly computer keyboard that you could plug-in in place of a regular keyboard.

    As for the best tech toy I had as a kid? Hmmm likely my Sega genises.

  20. The best tech toy I received as a child was a Nintendo 64 and the best tech toy now is the interactive Marshall paw patrol dog. Would love to win this for my kids.

  35. Coolest tech toy in the article is the spehro bb8. It can do so many unexpectedly cool things like the hologram.

  47. Th coolest tech toy I received when I was little was sort of a laptop for kids. It taught different subjects like math.
