Great toys hold a special place in our hearts. They create great experiences at the time we play with them. They also leave a treasured memory that we can look back on and smile as we get older. The coolest toys do something a little extra. Really cool toys unite a generation, and sometimes multiple generations. Many of the hottest toys these days are tech toys: robots, drones etc. Which tech toy of 2016 do you think will make the biggest impression in a child’s life, or in your life? Just tell us what you think the coolest toy of 2016 is and you might win a huge trove of the newest toys from Best Buy.

bb8Every year new toys are released that have the potential to become a child’s special treasure. Best Buy carries many of these. Best Buy also has the greatest selection of tech toys. Last year I fell in love with the Sphero BB-8 App-enabled  Droid. It’s the kind of toy that will resonate in a person’s memories for decades.

(Four of the new special edition version of this droid are included in this contest’s prizes!)

 

You may find it difficult to decide what the coolest toy is this year. It’s not always easy to predict what will be the best toy in a given year, but really there are no wrong answers. For example, I asked my wife which tech toy she remembers as having been really cool when she was young and her answer, the Fisher Price parking garage (shown below), really surprised me! Note that Best Buy carries a Melissa & Doug version of this parking garage. I too had one of those vintage Fisher Price garages when I was young and played with it incessantly. I hadn’t thought about that toy in many years, but just the mention of it brought back a ton of great memories.

Kids nowadays may not view a parking garage as a tech toy given the options that exist. The prizes in this contest contain many of the best tech toys available in 2016. We have divided the more than $12000 in prizes into 6 toys bundles:

  1. Unfortunately I never got any Christmas presents as I was raised in a strict religious house and we didnt celebrate Christmas or any of the other holidays. I left the Jehovah’s witnesses as soon as I was old enough to say I had enough of this crap so it really sucked being a kid and not getting any presents when every one else did but oh well days gone by.

  3. I actually had the parking garage when I was young!! It was amazing, all of my friends used to come over to play with it. Wish I still had it!

  4. My bays 2 so the itech toy for him since his into gaming already and ipad would the logitec or vtech lipfrog educational would be ideal..but..

  13. The coolest tech toy is the Meccano Meccanoid XL 2.0 Personal Robot. Although if the Nintendo Classic becomes available at Best Buy, that’d be my fave tech toy for 2016!

  15. The coolest tech toy I ever got as a child was Nintendo. We played for hours yelling and screaming at the game. We were all thumbs at first!!!! But we got really good at it, and we always had fun!!!!

  22. Coolest tech toy I had as a kid was smartie bear. A stuffed bear that could talk. It was so amazing at the time as it was one of the first talking toys that I can remember. These days of course, everything talks to you.

  30. I think the coolest tech toy from Best Buy this season is the ultimate drone!

    When I was a kid, the best tech toy I ever received was my Super Nintendo. I have one now as an adult!

  35. My favorite tech toy when I was a kid was a game called Blip. It had a little red light that went from one side of the screen to the other and we used to pretend it was possessed.

  42. The coolest toy i received growing up was either when furbie mania took over or the N64 game system. We certainly didnt have the technology we had today that brings us hoverboards and vr systems!

  43. The coolest toy is the Sphero BB8. As a die hard Star Wars fan i had to opt out for a car decal instead of this awsome remote control robot.

  48. The coolest tech toy available from Best Buy in 2016 is probably the Sphero BB-8 App-Enabled Droid with Star Wars Force Band. I know R2D2 was a real hit with the kids from the original Star Wars movies and I know BB-8 is just as adorable, all the kids will love playing with it!
