Great toys hold a special place in our hearts. They create great experiences at the time we play with them. They also leave a treasured memory that we can look back on and smile as we get older. The coolest toys do something a little extra. Really cool toys unite a generation, and sometimes multiple generations. Many of the hottest toys these days are tech toys: robots, drones etc. Which tech toy of 2016 do you think will make the biggest impression in a child’s life, or in your life? bb8Every year new toys are released that have the potential to become a child’s special treasure. Best Buy carries many of these. Best Buy also has the greatest selection of tech toys. Last year I fell in love with the Sphero BB-8 App-enabled  Droid. It’s the kind of toy that will resonate in a person’s memories for decades.

You may find it difficult to decide what the coolest toy is this year. It’s not always easy to predict what will be the best toy in a given year, but really there are no wrong answers. For example, I asked my wife which tech toy she remembers as having been really cool when she was young and her answer, the Fisher Price parking garage (shown below), really surprised me! Note that Best Buy carries a Melissa & Doug version of this parking garage. I too had one of those vintage Fisher Price garages when I was young and played with it incessantly. I hadn’t thought about that toy in many years, but just the mention of it brought back a ton of great memories.

Kids nowadays may not view a parking garage as a tech toy given the options that exist. The prizes in this contest contain many of the best tech toys available in 2016. We have divided the more than $12000 in prizes into 6 toys bundles:

  10. Aging myself here but the best tech toy I had was a Lite-Brite! I would have to say the coolest tech toy out there now are drones.

  11. The coolest tech toy I got as a kid, would have to be the Commodore Vic20. I learned some very basic programming on that old thing. It had some pretty good games too!

  16. I think the best ‘tech’ toy is the Celestron ExploraScope 70 AZ 70x700mm Telescope. I would certainly love to have one.

  20. This greatest toy I got were for me the best, fitbit and I got ine smart BP wrist watch monitor from my mother. To win this opportunity toys gadget will be the best Christmas ever that I will,share to my nieces and nephew. Thank you for the chance. I still remember our younger years when 3 sisters in the family were sharing ony one doll. That’s why this year’s always save and give some toys for my nieces, nephew and my lovely orphaned niece that we look after.

  33. The coolest tech toy I got as a child was a “My Pal Robot”…I think that’s what it was called! A robot that lit up, walked, etc.

  38. I remember Star Trek when it came out I was 19yrs . The line up was around the theatre. My aunts were here visiting from Scotland and we all went to see it their favourite part was when jawa was carrying R2D2. My favourite toy came just after Millennium Falcon space ship.

  39. The coolest toy I ever received for Christmas was my Gameboy Colour (along with Pokemon Red of course!) It started my love of video games and tech at a young age.

  41. I think the coolest tech toy for 2016 is the YUNNEEC TYPHOON 4K, as drones are really the up-and-coming toy for all ages! 🙂

  44. My pick for the coolest tech toy for 2016 would be drones! Specifically the Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K Quadcopter. It had great reviews & comes with a built-in camera & many people mentioned how it’s ready to fly out of the box & great for beginners with a few’s fail safes built in!
    My kids love making videos & have started making YouTube videos as well.
    So this gift would combine their love for making videos & being creative with keeping outdoors & active. We’ve had our eye on drones reciently & this model seems to have it all. It’s a really cool tech toy for people of all ages.

  47. I think the coolest one is the WowWee CHiP Robotic dog because it is great for those people whose children want a pet but for various reasons cannot have one. I would have loved one as a kid and my kids would love it. The best and coolest tech toy I ever received was my NES. I still have fond memories of it.

  48. The only thing I got growing up that would remotely be considered a “tech” toy was probably my original Nintendo Entertainment System. But man, did that thing provide for years and years and years of entertainment.

  50. There weren’t things like Tech Toys when I grew up……so now you now I am ancient! LOL So my favourite toy that “moved” was my Music Box!
