May the Fourth be with you! It’s not a “real” holiday, but if you ask Star Wars fans (including the two in my household!), May 4th each year is a special unofficial holiday when fans go all out to celebrate their fandom of the mega movie and pop culture franchise. This means attending local events, dressing up in costume to watch (or likely re-watch) your favourite Star Wars films, having themed parties at home, or simply enjoying toys and hobbies centred around the franchise. For a special fan, you might want to get them a thoughtful Star Wars gift on the unofficial holiday, choosing from the many toys as well as collectibles. And if that fan is you, why not treat yourself?

Luckily, there’s a plethora of Star Wars themed video games, toys and collectibles, home theatre gear, and even lifestyle items worth getting to suit fans of all ages.

Star Wars video games put you in the story

LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga

Video games are a fun way to virtually step into the Star Wars universe, and there are plenty of options in this department for all the major consoles. We recently reviewed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga which is an ideal option for kids. Available for PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X/S and One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, it’s rated for everyone and offers incredible attention to detail with great lightsaber wielding and a hilarious and engaging story complemented by the wonderful mix of voice actors.

There are plenty of other Star Wars video game titles to choose from as well: my 10-year-old loves Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, for example, and Star Wars Battlefront is a favourite among many.

Razer The Mandalorian Xbox controller.

If you already have all the game favourites, consider some Star Wars video game accessories, like a fun themed wireless Xbox controller. Razer has one themed for the Disney+ original series The Mandalorian, one of the latest titles in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars toys and collectibles awaken your imagination

Playing with figurines never gets old, and even for those who have grown out of the imaginary play phase, figurines are great collectible items. With The Book of Boba Fett being one of the latest series in the franchise, a deluxe Boba Fett figure of this iconic character might be the perfect one to add to the collection. Standing 6 inches tall, it’s crafted with plenty of intricate detail and it’s even posable.

Boba Fett figurine.Funko Pop figures are all the rage these days for both kids and adults who love to purchase them and put on display, both inside or outside of the original boxes, amassing a large collection. They are available for virtually every popular movie and TV show franchise, Star Wars being a huge one. There are a variety of Star Wars Funko Pop figures you can grab as a collectible. And with new ones being added all the time, it’s easy to get something that even the most serious collector doesn’t yet have.

My son received an animatronic version of Grogu (a.k.a. “The Child”) from The Mandalorian from “Santa” for Christmas and it was his hands-down favourite gift, which went with him everywhere. The Animatronic Edition Figure brings the adorable, scene-stealing character to life via 25 sound and motion combinations. It giggles, babbles, moves its ears in an eerily realistic way, and even bobs its head up and down to respond to your child’s touch. Lay him down and he’ll snore himself to sleep. Using the Force, after all, takes a lot out of him.

Star Wars Destiny card game pack.Board games and puzzles take the story in new directions

Board games are perfect for Star Wars fans, and for those who plan to throw a May the Fourth Star Wars themed party, they’re the perfect activity to add to the festivities.

You can find classic board games with a Star Wars twist, like Trouble and Cards Against Star Wars (a version of Cards Against Humanity). But there are also Star Wars specific board games.

For a quiet night at home with a fellow Star Wars-loving fan or partner, there’s the two-player Star Wars: Destiny – Luke Skywalker Starter Set card game, where you each gather a team and fight one another using the cards and dice.

Star Wars retro puzzle. If you prefer putting together a puzzle, there are lots to choose from as well, both large and small. A great activity for the whole family, grab some puzzle glue and a frame so you can mount it on the wall when you’re finished, or gift it to a fan. Pick one representing the new slate of films of harken back to the old days with a classic, retro puzzle.

Star Wars LEGO for building the adventure in your home

Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina lego set.

You can’t go wrong with Lego. My 10-year-old has a massive collection of Star Wars Lego, and when he saves his birthday, holiday, and chore money, it’s often spent on a massive new set he can put together over a series of days or weekends.

Go all out on this special holiday with the Lego Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, which is one of the more difficult to find sets but is the top choice on every fan’s radar. With a total Star Wars Millennium Falcon Lego.of 7,541 pieces, Lego fans will spend a day or longer putting it together, then revel in the beauty of the finished product. It’s one of those sets that you can set on the mantle and impress other fans who visit and see your hard work.

One of the sets my son saved up for and was delighted to spend his hard-earned cash on was the Lego Star Wars: Mos Eisley Cantina set. It has 3,187 pieces and replicates the iconic scene from the original film. Complete with minifigures for characters like Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and R2-D2, it opens and closes and allows for wonderful imaginative play once it’s put together using the easy-to-follow instructions.

For something a bit smaller, a Lego Star Wars: Imperial TIE Fighter is always fun to play with when making your own battle scenes. It’s just 432 pieces and is ideal for kids aged 8+, but adults will love it, too.

Star Wars 4K Blu-ray disc.Star Wars home theatre gear

Sure, a lot of what we watch these days comes from streaming services, and you can access all the most popular Star Wars movies and TV shows on Disney+. But sometimes, it’s nice to keep something for posterity and to hand down.

Even if DVDs are scarce 50 years from now, a copy of the movies on Blu-ray is something every fan wants to have. Look for the special Collector’s Edition in 4K, which will also, like others, include a digital code to download to watch on a computer or other mobile device without an Internet connection as well. Or, consider an entire box set collection like the Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which includes nine movies in a Blu-ray box set.

Star Wars Bitty Boomers Grogu.Bitty Boomers are adorable little speakers designed to look like Star Wars figures, and they are fun for all ages. Place one in your home office, bedroom, living room, or even take it with you anywhere to listen to tunes, podcasts, or any other audio from a Bluetooth connected mobile device. Yes, you can even get a Grogu Bitty Boomer.

Star Wars lifestyle products

Instant Pot owners love to decorate theirs with various decals and stickers to reflect their personal style, but did you know you can actually buy themed versions? Yes, that includes one emblazoned with imagery from the popular movie franchise. The Instant Pot Duo Star Wars Darth Vader 7-in-1 pressure cooker functions just like other models but it’s Stars Wars Darth Vader Instant Pot.finished entirely in black with a Darth Vader-themed design if you tend to skew to the Dark Side. If you’re more a Jedi Light Side type of person, there’s an Instant Pot edition that sports the colours of R2-D2 as well.

For the special guy, a themed watch will make him feel like he’s fighting with the force. There are options like the Citizen Star Wars Men’s Casual Watch finished in, of course, rebel pilot silver (black is also available). The design harkens back to the ’80s, right when two of the biggest movies in the franchise at the time, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, debuted to form the original trilogy. It has both an analog and digital display and comes complete with the Rebel Alliance logo.
