Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. I think the Wi-fi video door bell would be fantastic for home security…you just can’t open the door to anyone anymore. Sad but true.

  2. We’ve had breakins, and a motorbike stolen from out property. I’d love to have a security system with video for our property

  3. The spotlight cams are great. They improve overall home security by adding light with the benefits of video.
    Intruders beware!

  4. The light feature would be handy since our timer on our outdoor lights is not working and our digital keypad isn’t backlit so if we leave in the daytime and come home at night then you need to use your phone to get the code right. Also, might be nice to see if the cat is waiting to come inside. 😀

  5. My concern is that there have been breakins in our area. This system would give more of a sense of security.

  6. My most pressing need is definitely the Ring video doorbell. I work from my office downstairs and it is hard for me to hear the front door bell when deliveries arrive. I could use the Ring doorbell to alert my cell phone and that would really really help out.

  7. I think the ring video doorbell would be fantastic to own, I worry about who is coming to my door and I am unable to see who it is Lot of crime these days! The camera would be a second set of eyes to help protect against unwelcome people showing up at my door.

  8. Ours is a quiet street that’s out of the way – so I think a ring doorbell would solve many of our security issues. Parcels being left in the holiday season would be more secure, no one is home on the street during the day, and the two way voice communication would allow me to scare off would – be intruders while officers are on their way if my teens are home alone.

  9. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 is on my immediate radar; I have older parents and I am constantly worried about their safety and security, so this product would be so helpful in protecting them when answering the door and also giving me peace of mind. Thank you!

  10. My fiance and I just moved into our first home! Unfortunately, the front door doesn’t have a peep hole, and we don’t have any front-facing windows on our first floor, so we have to open the door to see who’s there. Not the safest method! The Nest doorbell would give us some peace of mind to know that we aren’t blindly opening the door for just anyone!

  11. I like the idea of a video doorbell to see who is at the door at night before I open it for safety reasons.

  12. I have a dark front entryway and the Ring Spotlight Cam would solve the issue and provide extra security.

  13. I would like the Ring WIFI video door bell so you could see who is at the door to know if you want to answer it or not.

  14. The spotlight cam would be most beneficial. My wife is on maternity leave currently and stays home with are son most days and some nights depending on my schedule. To know what’s going on outside my house would help alivevate a lot of my concerns when I’m away from my family.

  15. I would like the Ring Spotlight Cam as I would feel reassured to know that if someone was around my property that the light would alert me to their proximity — and might make them think twice if they were there for an unsavory reason.

  16. The spotlight cam would be great. we have had some vandalism to our home outside and the spotlight cam might prevent it

  17. I would like the Ring WIFI video door bell so you could see wo is at the door before opening it.

  18. Our backyard door doesn’t lock and so,people could pick out our vegetables that we grow and its not safe.
I would like the Video Doorbell 2

  19. We are fortunate to be able to travel regularly and because we live on a corner lot we are always concerned about the security of our home therefore The Ring Spotlight Cam would provide a sense of security.

  20. With no lights on the side of my house, someone has already once tried to break in to my basement windows. The Ring Spotlight Cam would help prevent this.

  21. Problems with neighbor always coming on to our property so a security cam with motion detection and a light would be of great help in making us feel more secure.

  22. My home s located very close to our road and sometimes passersby slow down. It scares me especially as I live alone.

  23. A Spotlight Cam would give me light and access to see my sidewalk which is sheltered and dark at night especially.

  24. Our deck and patio are in a dark, isolated area and it would be nice to feel secure and prevent break ins by having the Ring Alarm Wireless Add-On Door/Window Sensor – 2 Pack

  25. We live in a rural area, so a spotlight cam would definitely be an asset. It’s a challenge to know who’s driving into the yard.

  26. My property has several trail systems that run nearby, with occasional interlopers in my yard. It would be great to see who wanders over when I’m not home.

  27. I love that commercial where the two would-be thieves walk up the driveway with nefarious intents. The home owner is alerted to their presence and tells them to run. I don’t know if I would be that generous. I’d probably give them my best Dirty Harry “do you feel lucky – punk” line. May work?!

I absolutely love that the camera not only alerts you, it captures the images of the criminals for the police to investigate. One at the front door, one at the back door and you can feel more secure!
