Arlo security cameras can help make any home more secure, whether you are home or away from home. The peace of mind you get while you are sleeping is nothing compared to the calm you feel while on holidays, still able to see your home with the app on your phone or tablet. They are a versatile and reliable way to be aware of everything happening near your home. This is especially true of the Arlo camera bundles, like the Essential bundle we are giving away in this contest. Learn more about how this bundle is essential for travellers, then enter for a chance to win one.

Why prowlers don’t like Arlo cameras

Last week, a neighbour posted on our community Facebook page that he had a prowler on his property the previous night. His dog was “yapping like crazy” he said and he saw the back of a dark figure running down his driveway. He had no idea who it was and could not give much of a description. I’m sure this particular prowler didn’t like that this property had a dog. However, they would have really hated if it had Arlo cameras capturing a crystal clear picture on video that could be instantly shared with neighbours and with the police.

The Arlo Essential camera bundle we are giving away gives better security than a dog for many reasons. A dog might bark, which might potentially scare off an intruder (but not always since brazen thieves might not care if a dog is inside the house). However, when the camera suddenly illuminates the area, the natural first thing to do is to look into the light. At that instant the thief knows they have been captured on video, and that video has already been sent to the cloud. There is nothing they can do at that point. Another reason that this bundle is better than a dog is because it comes with four cameras, for equally strong security coverage at multiple sites in or around your home. Lastly, this security is equally strong even if you and your dog are not home. While you are on holidays, your dog may be with a friend or family member. Your cameras, however, are placed at essential locations around your home: they’re wireless so you will move them around as you please inside and outside your home. You can access the footage, and share clear HD video of nasty prowlers, no matter where you are in the world.

Rethink what is essential for your next trip so you don’t forget anything

Forgetting is normal, it’s human—but it’s also frustrating! Preparation is the key to a vacation with everything essential taken care of. Will you be travelling somewhere this spring or summer? Check out our travel buying guide well before you leave to help you prepare. Our intention was to make it broad enough so that it could help as many people as possible. That article has five sections to help you focus on the many things you might want to consider before your next trip. You’ll noticed, that the last section is about home security: often this is the last thing people think about. Hopefully one lasting impact you get from entering this contest, whether you win the Arlo Essential camera bundle prize or not, is that you take care of home security well before your next trip.

  1. I would like to have both the Arlo camera system and the guard dog. The dog would scare most intruders away, and the camera would help identify who the unwelcome guest was.

  2. I have a “guard dog” who barks every time someone comes near the house. I would like an arlo camera system so that I can see if this is a random person walking by of if it is someone to worry about.

  3. I would like both an Arlo Camera SYstem and a guard Dog. The dog will keep burgulars out and the camera will record them for the police.

  4. I would like to have both as they would work the best in my opinion, the cameras are good but a guard dog would really scare some intruders away.

  5. Both for me as I love dogs but my old guy would have cuddled a burgler to pieces. lol So yes for the camera and its illumination.

  6. My dogs name is Arlo and he is NOT much of a security system. Seems like the Arlo cameras are the way to go…

  7. Among things mentioned in the travel buying guide, people possibly don’t bother with extra batteries or memory cards for their camera. Keeping only one copy of all your pictures in the camera itself has a potential for tears, so one big memory card may not be best. The laundry pouch mentioned in the bit about packing cubes (or something to do the same job) for keeping your dirty clothes separate is also a possibly forgotten useful thing.

  8. I’d rather have the cameras. A dog eats much more, among other annoyances. And a dog’s description of an intruder would hold up much less well in court than a camera’s description.

  9. Two things people would forget is a different adapter when traveling to another country and Brita water bottle.

  10. I would rather an Arlo camera system less maintenance and can see what’s going on when you’re away from your home.

  11. Well I’m a dog lover but cameras seem to be a little less maintenance and you don’t need to take them for walks. When travelling I always make sure I have plenty of usb cables and a portable charger. A travel water bottle with built in filter is important

  12. Two things not to forget while travelling are a travel are headphones for movie or music on your phone, and neck rest to sleep

  13. There is so much thieving around now I would like the dog and the cameras. You probably can’t have too much security.

  14. Two things I think most people would forget when travelling is a luggage scale and a water bottle.

  15. Both – a guard dog to warn us something is up and an Arlo to get crystal clear pics of whatever was happening!

  16. Two things not to forget while travelling are a travel power adapter & a brita water bottle. Both are musts when travelling internationally.

  17. – Bringing a travel power adapter because there’s different chargers around the world.
    – Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated while out and about traveling!

  18. I’d rather have the Arlo cameras, it’s less maintenance and you can set it and forget it! Plus there’s video proof if something happens.

  19. People forget that they may need a different adapter when travelling internationally and they forget the necessity of a power bank as when you’re out sightseeing all day and taking a lot of photos you cell phone battery could drain quickly

  20. I’d like just the arlo camera system as guard dogs are very annoying to neighbours. The camera would provide what I need.

  21. Two essential things people forget when travelling:
    – setting up automatic smart lights
    – binoculars for sight seeing

  22. I would take the Arlo cameras, as I already have 2 dogs and they never know what they are barking at, but the cameras would show me for sure.

  23. I would say most people forget to bring a power bank and travel power adapter when traveling which are very key and essential but most people don’t think about how important they are.

  24. I am most people and have forgotten my travel adapter as well as a power bank. Both absolute essentials and although I tell myself not to I have on more than one occasion.

  25. I’d rather have an arlo camera system because of the accuracy of the picture quality, motion sensor even in the dark it detects and pickups up footage and activity very good as well as all the different angles it catches. A guard dog could get shot which would be heartbreaking and also attack visitors or innocent people who aren’t robbers or prowlers etc.
