Arlo security cameras can help make any home more secure, whether you are home or away from home. The peace of mind you get while you are sleeping is nothing compared to the calm you feel while on holidays, still able to see your home with the app on your phone or tablet. They are a versatile and reliable way to be aware of everything happening near your home. This is especially true of the Arlo camera bundles, like the Essential bundle we are giving away in this contest. Learn more about how this bundle is essential for travellers, then enter for a chance to win one.
Why prowlers don’t like Arlo cameras
Last week, a neighbour posted on our community Facebook page that he had a prowler on his property the previous night. His dog was “yapping like crazy” he said and he saw the back of a dark figure running down his driveway. He had no idea who it was and could not give much of a description. I’m sure this particular prowler didn’t like that this property had a dog. However, they would have really hated if it had Arlo cameras capturing a crystal clear picture on video that could be instantly shared with neighbours and with the police.
The Arlo Essential camera bundle we are giving away gives better security than a dog for many reasons. A dog might bark, which might potentially scare off an intruder (but not always since brazen thieves might not care if a dog is inside the house). However, when the camera suddenly illuminates the area, the natural first thing to do is to look into the light. At that instant the thief knows they have been captured on video, and that video has already been sent to the cloud. There is nothing they can do at that point. Another reason that this bundle is better than a dog is because it comes with four cameras, for equally strong security coverage at multiple sites in or around your home. Lastly, this security is equally strong even if you and your dog are not home. While you are on holidays, your dog may be with a friend or family member. Your cameras, however, are placed at essential locations around your home: they’re wireless so you will move them around as you please inside and outside your home. You can access the footage, and share clear HD video of nasty prowlers, no matter where you are in the world.
Rethink what is essential for your next trip so you don’t forget anything
Forgetting is normal, it’s human—but it’s also frustrating! Preparation is the key to a vacation with everything essential taken care of. Will you be travelling somewhere this spring or summer? Check out our travel buying guide well before you leave to help you prepare. Our intention was to make it broad enough so that it could help as many people as possible. That article has five sections to help you focus on the many things you might want to consider before your next trip. You’ll noticed, that the last section is about home security: often this is the last thing people think about. Hopefully one lasting impact you get from entering this contest, whether you win the Arlo Essential camera bundle prize or not, is that you take care of home security well before your next trip.
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways
- In a comment below, tell us which one you would rather have, a guard dog, an arlo camera system, or both and explain why.

Win an Arlo Essential smart home camera bundle Rules and Regulations
Good Luck!
I would rather an Arlo system as I do not have to clean up after it and it would always listen to me, offer me great protection and could actually give me information on an intruder. Dogs can bark and give you an alert and my 5 cats would just keep sleeping. Both of these I have to clean up after. ARLO FOR THE WIN!
water bottle and GPS
Most people tend to forget packing water bottles and power adapters when traveling!
I would want the Arlo camera … to watch my guard dog! 😉
an arlo camera system, because I’m kind of scared around dogs.
I will prefer to have both because a dog to defend the house, and the camera will to capture what happened.
The GPS watch and the travel adapter would be Great to own for travel everywhere!
Definitely the camera, because I don’t have to feed it 😉
Turning the lights on/programming smart lights at home and double-checking airline carry-on restrictions
The Arlo camera system because it sounds great! (I would like a dog too but my cat objects and she runs the household, as cats do.)
power adapters , luggage, light timers, charger,
People would likely forget their travel adaptor plug ins and their leaving a light on for security reasons.
both camera (Arlo) to see what happened and dogs I have 3
Would like both, we already have a dog and he sleeps through everything so the Arlo security camera would do a better job. 🙂
Both because one can backup the other haha
The size of carry-on bags and an unlocked cell phone.
Both, a dog to defend the house, and the camera will to capture what happened!
I’d imagine most people forget travel power adapters and to also have smart lights to control them going on and off to simulate someone being home while away.
Arlo system. Have had 2 dogs and dont every want to go through that heartbreak again at their end of life
I’d rather have a guard dog because security cameras don’t help with loneliness
Most people forget travel adaptor plug ins and forget to leave light timers on!
I would love the Arlo camera for security and the guard dog for a great pet too!
Some people forget to have someone keep an eye on their house, to remove packages, etc. that make the house look vacant. Also, some people forget to leave lights on timers with varied times to make the house look lived in.
An Arlo camera – we lost our dog and it’s so painful, we said never again. But you never know.
both, a dog will defend the household and is a part of the family, and the camera will clearly capture what happened!
Most people tend to forget packing water bottles and power adapters when traveling
I’d get both, a dog will defend the household, and the camera will capture what happened!
People forget a kinds of things travelling. The one I see the most is the size of their carry-on bags. Lots of arguments start there. The other is an unlocked cell phone. I did this for a trip to France and it worked great
i would love to have both! I love the idea of cameras and i love animals!
I would rather have both a dog (which we have) and a camera system. My reasons are easy. Our dog is actually a guide dog and he helps my wife out 24/7. He’s the best. A camera system like the Arlo Essential would be great because cars and people come into our driveway and she doesn’t know who it is.
It would be peace of mind for all of us
Just the camera kit, I will install it in my mom’s house.
I think most people tend to forget to do this before going on a trip. Unlocked cell your phone & bring a Travel power adapter!
Two things people forget on trips are a water bottle and and power adapters.
I want both a dog and arlo. The dog for companionship and the arlo to keep safe.
Two things people forget our power banks to power electronics and power adapters.
Two essential things mentioned in the buying guide that most people tend to forget are a lightweight day pack and a travel adapter.
It depends on the Dog! Some are great & some are BARKERS so I guess I would want a camera now.
Two essential things people tend to forget are a water bottle and travel power adapter.
I would have both. A guard dog to scare people away and an Arlo Camera System for those who aren’t scared of the dog.
It depends on the Dog! Some are great & some are BARKERS so I guess I would awould want n arlo camera now.
I would rather have an Arlo security camera than a dog because it is easier to care for and costs less.
I would rather have the Arlo camera. No poop to pick up………
A tripod and power adapter are two things that are often forgotten!
I would love the Arlo camera bundle as you don’t have to feed or walk those!
I think most people forget power adapters and power banks before going on a trip.
I would rather have an arlo camera system since I don’t have to feed or walk it.
Smart lights and smart lock are items people tend to forget
I would like the Arlo camera system. I’m not home often enough to take care of a dog the way it I feel is needed. And in the same breath not being home often enough, a camera system is almost a must these days.
2 things I think most people forget would be Smart lights to give the impression that you’re at home, and installing a smart lock as you can create different passcodes for different people and you need to have someone check on your home while your away for insurance purposes, here in Ontario at least.
I would rather have an arlo camera system because I dont have a dog and this would be better security than a dog.
An Arlo camera for sure, if I had a dog I would not travel and my allergies would be intolerable, the camera would not care if I went away for a few days and makes a fantastic eye witness
I think I would like both. The reason is that a dog will bark … maybe before the camera catches someone and the camera’s ability to turn on a light and get a clear picture is a great feature.
