Arlo security cameras can help make any home more secure, whether you are home or away from home. The peace of mind you get while you are sleeping is nothing compared to the calm you feel while on holidays, still able to see your home with the app on your phone or tablet. They are a versatile and reliable way to be aware of everything happening near your home. This is especially true of the Arlo camera bundles, like the Essential bundle we are giving away in this contest. Learn more about how this bundle is essential for travellers, then enter for a chance to win one.

Why prowlers don’t like Arlo cameras

Last week, a neighbour posted on our community Facebook page that he had a prowler on his property the previous night. His dog was “yapping like crazy” he said and he saw the back of a dark figure running down his driveway. He had no idea who it was and could not give much of a description. I’m sure this particular prowler didn’t like that this property had a dog. However, they would have really hated if it had Arlo cameras capturing a crystal clear picture on video that could be instantly shared with neighbours and with the police.

The Arlo Essential camera bundle we are giving away gives better security than a dog for many reasons. A dog might bark, which might potentially scare off an intruder (but not always since brazen thieves might not care if a dog is inside the house). However, when the camera suddenly illuminates the area, the natural first thing to do is to look into the light. At that instant the thief knows they have been captured on video, and that video has already been sent to the cloud. There is nothing they can do at that point. Another reason that this bundle is better than a dog is because it comes with four cameras, for equally strong security coverage at multiple sites in or around your home. Lastly, this security is equally strong even if you and your dog are not home. While you are on holidays, your dog may be with a friend or family member. Your cameras, however, are placed at essential locations around your home: they’re wireless so you will move them around as you please inside and outside your home. You can access the footage, and share clear HD video of nasty prowlers, no matter where you are in the world.

Rethink what is essential for your next trip so you don’t forget anything

Forgetting is normal, it’s human—but it’s also frustrating! Preparation is the key to a vacation with everything essential taken care of. Will you be travelling somewhere this spring or summer? Check out our travel buying guide well before you leave to help you prepare. Our intention was to make it broad enough so that it could help as many people as possible. That article has five sections to help you focus on the many things you might want to consider before your next trip. You’ll noticed, that the last section is about home security: often this is the last thing people think about. Hopefully one lasting impact you get from entering this contest, whether you win the Arlo Essential camera bundle prize or not, is that you take care of home security well before your next trip.

  1. As much as I love dogs, we can’t have them due to allergies. But if I could I would have both. The dog provides added security for sure. The cameras would be perfect 24 hours a day whether I am home or not.

  2. Arlo System only. Dogs are lifetime commitment and I just want additional security not commitment.

  3. Having a travel power adapter is essential and many times I’ve wished I remembered the power bank.

  4. I think two things people don’t remembering when they travel is the travel adapter for sure. Also I think people over pack and tend to check bags which can also lead to lost luggage. So it is important if you are checking a bag to also have a carry-on in case something gets lost. Better yet, invest in some airtags to track your luggage.

  5. I really want cameras because there are so many people prowling late at night and you can never protect yourself more. I also think there are benefits to dogs as well. I think that my cat would appreciate me only having the cameras and not a dog, though.

  6. If I actually had anything to that needed safe guarding both I guess. I’ll take the camera for now though cause its not gonna dookie in the yard.

  7. Tech essentials for travelling! Bring a powerbank with you so you’re never without a charge, imagine being lost with no phone for directions! Another essential is a great water bottle! Stay hydrated and have a great trip!

  8. I would want both a guard dog and the Arlo system because I love some good tech to help keep us safe but also, who doesn’t want a dog! They’re man’s best friend!

  9. Would rather have a camera than a dog any day – why? One a camera is a one time cost, once its set up all you have to do is review the information and one has documented proof of what has happened – a dog you have to walk – feed — also I am scared of them so I couldn’t have a dog – also when you go away you have to have someone to loo after it –

  10. I think a lot of people would forget water bottle, and accesories like batteries or memeory cards.

  11. Two essential things mentioned in the buying guide that you think most people tend to forget before going on a trip are a water bottle and a light daypack. Having water to hydrate and a daypack to put snacks and the water bottle in is so helpful for hiking and exploring.

  12. I would have the arlo camera system because it can watch different spots of the home all at once. Plus, you don’t have to give it treats!

  13. Power adapter and luggage scale are two items that alot of people forget to bring when they travel.

  14. I would rather have the Arlo Camera aystem. This will make me feel more secure when my husband is away. The light and camera capture is a great deterrent.

  15. I would rather have the Arlo security camera system, so any thieves can be tracked down hopefully.
People forget to have someone shovel steps and driveways in the winter and have someone pick up newspapers and mail

  16. I’d want both the dog and the Arlo system. The dog to scare the thiefs away, and camera to see who it was 🙂

  17. Both. That way we could have a video of our dog chasing the bad guy over the fence – and maybe taking a chunk out of his butt !

  18. I think two essential things that people tend to forget would be a power bank and a thermos for water or hot liquids.

  19. Two essential things that I noticed while reading your buying guide that I think most people would tend to forget when going on a trip would be to pack an inflatable neck pillow and a laundry pouch to put your dirty clothes in to keep them separated from the clean ones.
