Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. Had person(s) take family pets and tools from backyard. In front, people digging out flowers to steal…. crazy stuff. Need camera like this to prevent any further nightmares for me and family.

  2. I’d use the camera to surveil the RACCOONS that visit my house? What are they doing outside at night. How am I to know? I can hear but not see them. If only I could win a surveillance camera.

  3. There is a huge problem with people breaking into cars and garages in this area, having a good security camera would be the best deterrent

  4. to see who is at the door and also to catch the thieves who keeps taking my parcels that are being delivered.

  5. It’s a sign of the times, unfortunately, where I and many others feel the need for extra deterrents against thieves and vandals. There have been a number of incidents in my area in recent months, some at my neighbours. The cameras would be useful in gathering information to assist law enforcement who are always looking for a detailed description of possible intruders, etc.

  6. I would like to have security cameras on exterior of townhouse recently bought. zIt would be nice to travel in our retirement and not worry about the house when we are gone.

  7. I would like to know who is at the door. I don’t like to open the door when I don’t know who is there.

  8. Front door for sure. Indoors too. By the garage as well. We sometimes do porch pickups so it would be nice to keep an eye. Also theft appears to be on the increase in our neighbourhood. And especially for days when our daughter is home from school.

  9. I like the idea of no cloud storage fees. I would like to keep an record of activity around my driveway and cars parked there.

  10. I’d like to know who keeps dumping cigarette butts outside my house, unless I have a really nicotine addicted skunk with a crush, who knows? Would give me peace of mind.

  11. We live downtown Calgary. Crime is on the rise. I would like this for added security and Protection. Thanks for the opportunity.

  12. A lot of people cut through our yard as we’re one of the few on our block that hasn’t fenced the entire property off

  13. A camera would reduce stress, anxiety & worry adding to a healthier way to live. I would be able to view who or what is outside without me opening the door to a potential safety risk, as well as providing the ability to monitor and analyze possible events that may negatively impact individuals, assets, and our community.

  14. As a single mom it would be great to have the extra peace of mind knowing there are eyes at my front entrance & over my car

  15. We live on a dark street and all our neighbors have cars broken into and things taken from our yard. We had our garage broken into and took the car and all the tools. We do have cameras now but they are not good enough to pick up car plates.

  16. I work shift work would be nice to have some extra security while I’m away. For the household and cars.

  17. We had a break in a couple months ago and I am concerned they will come back. I need these to video entry into my home and to deter any future break-ins!

  18. Animals, both the human and furry kind. One of them is digging under my front entrance at night. I suspect its the neighbours cat, or a skunk and a really really tiny person.
