Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. I live in a high/moderate crime area and would love to be able to catch suspicious activity on camera and deter thieves. Thanks for the chance!

  2. we have strange people on bikes coming around and have had many thefts on our street also some keep trying to get in our vehicles. We have had nails in our tires in a way that is not by accidents. This may help to see who is doing all of this

  3. Watch my mother in law in case she leaves (has Alzheimer’s disease). Also there were break-ins in the area last year.

  4. To address security concerns of break ins and vandalism. My neighbour had his tires slashed on his truck right in his driveway.

  5. We are having problems with our neighbors and want to make sure that they don’t harm any more of our cats.

  6. Break ins and theft are our main concerns. Our garage was broken into and our bikes stolen. Our cars have both been vandalized (broken windows, rifled through and one was an attempted theft – we found a steak knife which was left in the ignition) Although we have a fence with gates, people seem to think our yard is a thoroughfare. 🙁

  7. There have been a lot of break-ins in my neighbourhood lately that this security camera would be really great for keeping an eye on.

  8. I would love the ability to monitor our home while we are away. That would give us peace of mind.

  9. living in semi rural area with a wooded area in back, even with a fence i know that can be jumped, i would feel safer with something like this to protect my family or deter those that are not so honest..

  10. My elderly father, who is legally blind, has had several incidents where he lives whereby someone bangs very hard on his house, runs away and leaves his gate open (for his dog who is indoors at the time to escape). This is very frightening for him as it happens when it is dark outside. This camera would give him peace of mind in knowing that the RCMP could possibly catch this individual. We are worried that these incidents could escalate to break-ins or a physical attack.

  11. We live in a busy part of town and the neighborhood is not the best. With a restaurant that is empty in the next lot there are concerns about thieves going after copper and anything that they can sell.

  12. I need something to keep an eye on my back yard. We gave a walk trail behind our back yard so high traffic

  13. I would love the Defender camera system to feeler safety and have evidence for potential criminal activity. This would greatly benefit me as I have had a previous break-in as well as numerous incidents of vehicle vandalism.

  14. I would set this camera up by barn watching the driveway and front door. To catch people stealing packages and stuff out of my truck.

  15. Stealing Canada Post parcels is on the rise in. I enjoy ordering from the internet. A security camera will be a deterrent to steal I believe.

  16. We live right across from a dog park and within walking distance of the ctrain station so its a concern with a lot of foot traffic and people entering our yard

  17. Good to know there is this product on the market that I could use at my place to help capture images of people who lurk on a property and look for an unoccupied place and case a joint for unlawful activity. would be good for back and front of property.

  18. Could really use this product as I had problem incidents in the past. This would help the local enforcement to catch the culprits and have a record of possible culprits. Really need this!

  19. There’s a lot of break ins in my area..cars & garages so would be great to capture on camera if happens to me.
