Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

 

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

  1. I am concerned about the front area around my house and garage. There has been a few incidents in the neighborhood that gives me grave concern.A security camera would help to monitor this area and give me peace of mind.

  2. Sometimes teens in the neighborhood prank ring our doorbell in the middle of the night! Also have lots of packages delivered and want to ensure security of front area.

  13. My security concerns are not being able to record would be thieves which means having no evidence to give to police when things go missing. I am not a rich man by any standards and workhard for my assets. A real security system would give me and my family peace of mind and make us feel secure

The security concerns that I have around my house is that our property is very open, there have been several cases of break ins to peoples homes and vehicles in the area, and it’s keep a lot of us up at night. We want to be able to keep track of when people are on our property, who they might be, be able to monitor the safety of our vehicles and just overall gain a peace of mind when we’re home/not home and make sure that we can avoid any serious incident or claim.

  15. The security concerns around my home is the front of the house where the vehicles are parked. We live in a good neighborhood but apparently there are sometimes people coming through the walkways as a to shortcut to their condos going through the vehicles if they are left unlocked. Have lost several pairs of sunglasses this way.

I live in an older home and have had issues in the past, I would like a home security camera just to give me extra security and comfort knowing that I can actually see my front door and if anyone is there. I live alone so this would be a great accessory to have. Definitely a life changer for me!!

  20. The security concerns around my home are my front door I can’t see who is on my doorstep unless I open the door, this makes me very nervous especially in the evenings. I also have a side door to the garage it is hidden from the street and I have been broken into before from this door as you can enter the house from the garage. A camera on both these areas would certainly give me peace of mind.

I’d like to park one of my cars in my rear lane way, but after having my Mom’s cars car parked there and the window smashed and the steering column busted in an attempt to steal it, the only way I’d park my Chrysler 300 back there would be if I could at least monitor it. At least then if it was vandalized there’d be a chance to catch the perp.

  25. Vehicle’s have been broken into, Door’s rattling with would-be burglar attempting to enter until scared off due to realizing someone is home, Have to go outside to smoke & live in the “Worst Area Of The City” {Although crime happen’s anywhere & everywhere ! !}
    So @ time’s scared to go out unaware of what may be lurking & waiting to be discovered once outside {Not to mention gun shot’s are heard once in awhile} & Directly across my place/on opposite side of alley is a shady/lowest priced in city {I’m sure} “No Tell Motel” bringing every colorful array of individual’s out in full force 7 day’s a week/24/7

  26. The camera would allow me to find out what animal species have been able to open a locked garage door and munching on food scraps by knocking off a locked green bin.

  29. I worry about my outdoor equipment (boat, canoe, kayak, etc.) so the security package would put my mind at ease.
