One of the reasons that I’m drawn to Vega’s products is the huge variety of options that they offer. Last week I talked about a couple of their sport products which are geared towards the more serious athletes who are looking to build muscles and help with recovery and repair of their muscles as well. Today I’m focusing on the Vega Protein & Greens powder which has a lot to offer in one small scoop. It’s perfect for anyone who is interested in using a protein powder or wants to eat a more healthy or well balanced diet.

Vega Protein & Greens

optimized-img_0153With Vega’s Protein & Greens you’re getting not just a protein powder but two servings of greens per serving as well, that’s a significant amount contributing to your daily requirement. The protein is all plant based and comes from pea, saviseed, hemp and sprouted whole grain brown rice to equal 20 grams per 30 gram serving. The greens that you’re getting are sourced from alfalfa, spinach, kale and broccoli and you’ll also notice on the nutrition facts that you’re getting a variety of vitamins and minerals as well.

As a person who is not a huge eater and struggles to get in all my daily requirements I love the Protein & Greens for the simple fact that I can get a great meal by either drinking a shake or adding the powder to one of my meals each day.

How to use Protein & Greens

Like most protein powders the Vega Protein & Greens can be made with your liquid of choice. The instructions suggest water or a non-dairy beverage, my personal favourite is coconut milk, but it can be used with milk if that’s what you prefer. It’s also great to add into your meals or baking if you’re not into drinking shakes. I have a sweet tooth at times but don’t bake often unless my boys are asking for cookies because If there’s treats around I find it really hard not to eat them. We usually do mug cakes as a treat in my house because they’re so easy to make and are single serving so no leftovers tempting you. I’ve incorporated the Vega Protein & Greens into my favourite mug cake and created this recipe for Vanilla Chocolate Chunk Mug Cake.

Vanilla Chocolate Chunk Mug Cake

Vega Proteins and greens cake4 tbsp organic all purpose flour

2 tbsp Vanilla Vega Protein & Greens

1-2 tbsp chopped chocolate (Depending on how you like it and use your favourite chocolate)

6 tbsp organic unsweetened coconut milk

1 tbsp organic agave

½ tsp organic baking powder

¼ tsp organic vanilla

2 tsp coconut oil melted

Mix all ingredients except for chocolate in a bowl until combined.

Add chocolate and mix in.

Spoon into your favourite mug.

Microwave for 2 minutes and enjoy. Feel free to sprinkle a few chocolate chunks on top before eating.

Having a somewhat healthy treat with the Protein & Greens is a great way to sneak in some extra nutrients to your day, and I think it’s important to enjoy  life and the foods you eat so go ahead and treat yourself to a mug cake every once in awhile.
