Intel consistently improves computer performance year over year for everyone, from students to artists, business people to gamers. Not surprisingly, Intel is also critical to your success at the most intensely demanding activity for any computer: PC Gaming. Enter for a chance to win a high performance, Intel powered, gaming computer from Intel and Best Buy.
All gamers are welcome
What kind of gamer are you? It’s been said that variety is the spice of life and there are many kinds of PC gamer. Some people stick exclusively to simple PC games that work on any machine; others prefer highly demanding PC games they play on custom built water-cooled machines with the fastest Intel processor available. A recent study concluded that there are six distinct types of PC gamers:
- Alpha: Highly enthusiastic, cross-platform, social, influential, and competitive gamer; high knowledge of PC components especially as it affects gaming.
- Purist: PC-centric, preferring stationary, immersive gaming; likely to customize PC hardware.
- Enthusiast: passionate about the latest gaming trend, loves PC Gaming but also mobile/smartphone gaming; moderate hardware knowledge
- Pragmatist: hobbyist preferring stationary/solitary gaming; knowledgeable about hardware but pragmatic about which computer works for their needs
- On-the-go: gaming on the go is most important; satisfied with easy to use PC products
- Casual: gaming is a quick escape and usually a stationary activity; not very knowledgeable about PC hardware
Think about where you fit into this framework, and what kind of games you most like to play.

I used to play a lot of games years ago. I am definitely a Alpha. Used to apply for any beta I could get my hands on. It be amazing to have something I could use to get back into it.
I am the Pragmatist Gamer – I’m a hobbyist preferring solitary gaming, knowledgeable about hardware but pragmatic about which computer works for my needs! The Intel powered ASUS Zephyrus gaming laptop at Best Buy is the machine of my dreams!
Now that I have kids I’m a casual gamer, but I used to be an Alpha. Currently wanting the Alienware Aurora Gaming PC in white (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)
Even though I could be referred as pragmatist, I would love to get my hands on the HP Omen Obelisk Gaming PC (Intel Core i9-9900K/512GB SSD/2TB HDD/32GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080Ti). Not only does it have the top CPU capability, but it is also a mean looking machine.
Definitely an alpha game but enjoy a wide variety of single and multiplayer games when not binge playing rainbow six siege or cs:go.
Since I already have a pretty good desktop a laptop for uni and gaming would be nice, specifically the Asus zephyrus as it’s a sleek looking notebook with good hardware for gaming on the go!
I’d like to say I’m an alpha gamer, but nowadays I’d say more On the Go gamer, as a warehouse operator by day, and a father to a precious 3 yr old at home, staying mobile is great!
I am a casual gamer and just need the escape sometimes.
I am a enthusiastic gamer. Would so love new computer or laptop to play on.
I am definitely an Enthusiast. There is something for everyone in pc building and gaming. If I had to choose my dream PC from that available i would have to go with the obelisk with the 2080ti!
I’m a casual gamer. Winning this would allow me to play with my friends. Good luck to everyone!!
I am an enthusiast. I have wanted the HP omen obeselik for a while but it costs too much.
I am a Casual gamer that has a little knowledge about PCs so if I would have a dream pc that would be Alienware Aurora R8 – Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti – i9-9900K- 16GB – 256GB SSD + 2TB HD so that I don’t really need to worry about which is better and which is not lol.
Purist
I consider myself as an Alpha gamer. I try to get the best parts that I can with my budget. I have never bought a gaming PC. Only built them. My dream PC to buy from Best Buy is the ASUS Strix Gaming PC – Star Black (AMD Ryzen 7 3700X/2TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2070S).
Purist – I love to game and will play as much as I can.
Cybertron or any extremely high end intel machine would be the dream machine for me.
I am pragmatist and I was looking at these 2 computers from long time.
Desktop: Alienware Aurora AWAUR9-7858WHT web code: 13985774
Laptop: Alienware M17 AWM17-7735WHT Webcode: 13924605
Call me the Alpha baby! I’ve been tinkering with computers since the commodore 16. Remember those ? Would love to get my hands onto a proper gaming laptop so I can satisfy my fix on the road too!
Gonna have to say I’m an enthusiast, have had my current PC for the last 5 years, always trying to keep up and upgrading to the latest GPU lineup.
I consider myself as an Alpha type gamer. My dream PC would be the CLX SET GAMING PC (Intel Core i9-9900K 3.60GHz (8 Cores), 16GB RAM, 3TB HDD & 960GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080Ti). An RTX 2080Ti would totally make playing games super immersive with Ray-Tracing technology. And the best Intel chip will definitely help with streaming and video editing!
Definitely a Purist. I love the Alienware M15 laptops sold at Best Buy. They’ve always been built like tanks and they are so much thinner then they used to be.
I’m definitely an Alpha gamer. Love the Asus Zephyrus!
I guess I would be considered an “Alpha” lol
I would go for the top tier HP Omen Obelisk if I had my choice of anything!
Definitely a purist here! Undervolting, high-end laptop cooler, overclocked GPU, specific software settings in-game depending on the game, in-game photography (link to some as an example in website section), modding etc! Love to push the limits!
Purist: PC-centric, preferring stationary, immersive gaming; likely to customize PC hardware.
I am a purist. I have built my own gaming PCs in the past
I’m definitely a purist, and the Intel-powered desktop of my dreams is the HP Omen Obelisk Gaming PC. Lots of raw power and an RTX to boot!
I’m definitely an Enthusiast. While I don’t look up the nitty gritty about computer hardware, I do have a pretty good idea about what’s important when buying a new machine, like cost vs performance for CPU and GPU.
I recently bought a Valve Index and have been aching to get a machine that could really run it properly so the Alienware Aurora R9 with i9-9900K and RTX 2080 Ti would be absolutely amazing for being able to run Half-Life:Alyx on higher than the lowest settings! It’s a blast letting everyone I knew get a chance to experience how cool VR is!
If nothing else, being able to give my father the Alienware m15 gaming laptop so we could play newer games together would be amazing. Thanks BestBuy!
Definitely a purist. After taking the tech class in high school, I have always been keen of building my own system but never got around. I love the ASUS ROG Strix G 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5-9300H/512GB SSD/8GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 offered at Best Buy
I am a Alpha Pragmatist playing minecraft to Forza horizon 4 also coding whenever I have to.
I would like the :

Since I have a Aurora R7 pc that i bought from bestbuy to go with it
I am a purist. I have always loved gaming since I was a kid. I would love to game more on PC but dont have a good set up.
My ideal desk top PC is the Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)
I’d consider myself an enthusiast! For me, the desktop PC of my dreams would be the HP Omen Obelisk Gaming PC specIntel Core i9-9900K/512GB SSD/2TB HDD/32GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080Ti) – Eng
I am an ALPHA and myy dream pc is the alienware m17 in black
I would say I’m a Purist when it comes to gaming. Although I don’t dislike consoles, I don’t find myself playing anything but on the PC. The ASUS Zephyrus would be my dream rig for sure.
I am a pragmatist, and have done some limited upgrades to computers in the past. I would probably go with the Acer predator orion 3000 Acer Predator Orion 3000 i7 with theGeForce RTX 2060
I think I’m a pragmatist. I know enough and care enough to set myself up for fun.
I am an alpha gamer. I have been gaming for awhile now and I’m looking forward to moving to PC gaming.
Probably a purist bit could never afford the latest builds. I assembled my first PC at ten with some old PC i found in the basement of my parents. Mixing Rams and testing every graphic card I could find (4mb of VRAM at the time). After buying my last laptop in 2013, I’ve been following the new games closely but sadly, can’t really try them like I would like too. Thanks too that good ol’ i7 4700MQ for keeping the whole system together until now though. I’m currently building a system around a i5 8400 but still missing a graphic card. Any of these two machines would more than an upgrade!
Definitely a purist. Keyboard and mouse 100%.
I’m a purist and the HP Omen Obelisk looks my dream PC, but I’d be willing to sacrifice power for mobility with one of the prize laptops!
I would call my self a purist because I love getting lost in beautiful game world’s. I wish for the ASUS Zephyrus S Thin Gaming Laptop because it contains power full components and is a well needed gaming upgrade from my mac mini haha.
I’m a pragmatist and this would be my dream machine Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)
I’m On-the-go. Playing games / running multiple VMs for testing and more. The Alienware m15 is the one of my dreams, as it has enough power for all my daily needs.
Purist and ASUS ROG Strix Call of Duty Gaming PC(Intel Core i7/2TB HDD/256GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2080)-Eng
Model Number: GL12CM-DH781-COD
Web Code: 13021474
with the upcoming RTX 3080ti when it releases lol
I would be a purist and Asus has been my go to so i would go with ASUS Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060)
I’m more of a Purist, It’s been 2 years now that i’ve been buying parts for my new pc. A lot of stuff happend during this time.
I got the i7 8700k cpu, the maximus X Motherboard and the Cosmos 25th anniversary from cooler master. I need the rest, lol.
I’m probably a Pragmatist, and I’d use the Asus laptop
I’m a casual gamer and the dream pc for me is the Asus strix gaming pc.
As a Pragmatist, the i5090-7711GRY-PCA wouldn’t break the bank, has a 9th gen i7 which would carry this small desktop through many Nvidia upgrades. With a 2060, it’ll benefit from DLSS right away and allow me to play whatever I want at high settings and high fps.
Alpha all the way. I wish I could indulge more however life is about balance. Would love to win either of these prizes so here I am.
I’m definitely a Pragmatist. I try to tweak hardware adjustments to make possible for the games which I wanna play. Whenever I get the opportunity to upgrade hardware I do. I even service my assembled PC like replacing thermal paste and coolant from reservoir !
And playing games like COD, NFS, Battlefield, Tomb Raider, etc. Appreciating the effort put into building the game, it’s storyline and life like graphics along with realistic situations.
I admire gaming rather than just enjoying for fun.
Definitely a casual gamer…til I find something I like then u stick to it…playing for yrs and even decades…plenty of powerhouse computers on the site but I’ve always been particial to acer…never had to send off to get fixed…predator series would be fun to try something with a 2060 perhaps P03-600…good luck
I am a gamer on the go and an alpha mix. My dream machine sold at bestbuy is definitely the Alienware m17 r2 laptop. Also really love the Asus Z thin laptop!
