There are few monitors more profound, versatile, and perfectly designed for gaming than the Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming monitor. This monitor puts you in the game. With stunning colours and clarity, a response time you expect in a gaming monitor (165Hz refresh, 1ms response time) the consequences of your thoughts are immediate—like you are in the game. During gaming month Best Buy will have many gaming contests, and this one is for anyone who wants their gaming bigger and better than ever. The prize is the same monitor that we sent to Marcus (pictured above) for an honest review. I saved that sample at the office when it returned from Marcus so that I could give it away during gaming month. Read his review to learn about this monitor and enter this contest to win it!

Are you really in the game

Like most things in life that are real, gaming ability and gaming interest falls on a normal distribution (aka, a bell curve). Some of us are “Little Game” and some of us are “Big Game.” I fall on the far left at about a “3” on the scale since I don’t play games very much. But I work with talented writers on the Best Buy blog, like Jon Scarr and Matthew Rondina who are at “8” or “9” on the scale (reserving a “10” for professional eSport players).

Introspect for a minute. What kind of gamer are you? When hostile aliens come to visit Earth, will you be on the “A” list of people the army calls for the big “drone battle in the sky” or will you be someone, like me, they ask to do more farming to feed the troops? Hey I could use a big monitor like the Samsung Odyssey Ark to plan my crops!

Who in your life is the biggest gamer you know

Okay so I have established that I am not “Good Game” and certainly not “Big Game.” You likely have a good idea where you land on this scale, but how about the people in your life. Are they more game or less game than you? In other words, would they be more likely or less likely to get the most benefit from having this amazing monitor prize in their home. For some people this might be a sensitive topic: food fights have started with less incentive. I’m not trying to raise hackles, or move anyone to cast judgement. If a consensus is not immediately forthcoming, then this is likely the kind of question best settled with … a game! Perhaps you’ll get to play it using this monitor.

I understand, however, that many people might think this monitor is too big for their home. That’s okay. Samsung has a huge selection of gaming monitors, smart monitors, curved monitors, efficient productivity monitors, and more. In fact, many of them are on sale this month so you’ll likely find exactly the monitor you need for gaming, for school, for work ….

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways

  1. In a comment below: tell us the name of someone in your life (first name only) who is very close to the same level of gamer as you AND if you were going to compete to see who is actually better, what game would you want to play and why. AND
  2. Email your dream Samsung monitor: Visit this Samsung monitor page at Best Buy and take a screen shot of the monitor (or just include the name and model number) that you think is the perfect size and style for your needs. Then send this information in an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with the subject line “Samsung Ark Monitor Contest.”

What you can win

At the end of the contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner from all eligible entries. This winner will receive the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55″ 4K Ultra HD 165Hz 1ms GTG VA LCD FreeSync Gaming monitor that had been reviewed on the blog.

This contest runs from May 31st to June 15th.

Remember you can enter one here in a comment and once in an email. I mentioned above that June is gaming month. We have many contests this month including our massive “Play at Best Buy” contest and even a board game themed contest. This is the month to tell everyone you know to enter our contests for amazing prizes.

  1. Ever since we watched the series, my daughter Mila has been playing The Last of Us and has quickly become just about as good as I am. I’d love to experience the immersiveness that the Odyssey Ark provides and see which one of us is better!

  2. Danella is ALMOSTthe same level as I am. I would like to play Rocket League because i think I would have a better chance to win than she would.

    • I would play Rocket League with my son Rylan. I like to play with him because he is a great gamer for his age! I like to think he got it from me lol

  3. I would take on my friend Adam in WWE 2K23. We’ve always both loved wrestling games.

  4. My sister, Michelle is the same level as me as a gamer. We would both compete in Fornite to see who is the better gamer because it is a very popular game to play.

  5. Rowan my daughter is close to the same level of gamer as me. The game we would play to compete to see who is actually better would be It Takes 2 because it is an amazing puzzle game you can play couch co-op.

    • I would battle my brother in some rocket League.. only because it’s the one game he isn’t as good as me at!

  6. I’d like to play my son Nathan in a game of Mario Kart just to quiet him about it haha

  7. Liz and we would play Mario Kart because I am good at playing Mario Kart and I hope to win.

  8. I would choose my friend Cory as being about the same gaming level as I am too, and I would have us play Grand Theft Auto series because we both love to drive/race, and there would be lots of excited yelling and hollering..fun!

  9. My son and I play Sonic. Very similar skill level. I’m not sure who would win in a contest to see who is better.

  10. 1. Jessica. Super Smash Bros. To defeat my opponent and then boot them out of the arena.

  11. Erica is ALMOSTthe same level as I am. I would like to play Rocket League because i think I would have a better chance to win than she would.

  12. Gabe is very close to the same level of gamer as me amd we are going to compete to see who is actually better by playing Mario Cart

  13. My bestie Elaine and I are very close and quite competitive lol. We would play Mario Cart because it is fun, keeps us on our toes and helps us better our gaming skills. It also gives the victor bragging rights until beaten lol

  14. Darrin is close to my level – and if we were to have a “game-off” it would have to be playing HOMM3 because we’ve both been playing it for years!

  15. I think I’m pretty close in skill with my buddy Chris Champion, but we’d play a round robin of NHL and Fortnite 1v1 to see who’s better.

  16. I would play NHL23 with my grandson Aaron – it’s wouldn’t be a competition because I have no chance of beating him.

  17. Steve is about the same level as I am but I’m pretty sure I could win if we were to see who could get farthest in a game of classic Super Mario. Our kids would make very good use of this monitor with much newer games that they play!

  18. I think my friend Jasper would probably be about an equal gamer to me. We’d probably have to compete in the newest call of duty because neither one of us has played it to have an unfair advantage but we both have played them in the past

  19. I hate to admit, but my young son Rev is probably the closest gamer to me – and about the same level! If we were going to compete – ok, we already do compete – our favourite is Mario Kart. Its easy to pick up and just play and is pretty fun. And I stand a chance at least of a tie match-up~!
