Everyone needs to treat himself or herself with a nice present, and this is what I did with a new laptop from BestBuy. After careful consideration, I bought the MacBook Air 13.3″ Open Box at Best Buy Canada. A MacBook Air! For me, it is a life changing experience, a game changer. And do you want to know why? I will tell you what my two favourite features are.
MacBook Air’s high-resolution screen is amazing
After opening the box that contained my beautiful MacBook Air, I felt like a child opening her Christmas presents. First thing I noticed is how light it is. It felt like I was carrying a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Boasting a sleek, shiny space grey design, this MacBook Air caught my eye on Best Buy Canada’s website. I knew I would never be able to put it down, like writers used to carry their typewriters. However, the external design was not what excited me the most; the high-screen resolution was.
One of the first things I did was to open Netflix, and put on my favourite TV show “The Crown.” This is when the magic happened: Images were bold, vibrant, with lifelike colours. I love the size of the screen: a 13.3-inch screen is perfect for me. It is not as big as a TV, but I was not buying a TV.
“Why is this screen resolution so great?”, I asked myself. I had read the specifications before purchasing it on Best Buy Canada, but still didn’t understand what the benefit was in a Retina screen display.
What is the Retina screen display?
One of the things that makes this screen so good is pixel density. It is quite simple: The greater the pixel density is, the smoother, less-grain looking, and more natural images will look like. Our eyes can only detect pixels at a density of about 300 pixels per inch. The Retina screen display uses a pixel density of 326, a pure delight for anyone to see. Watching anything is amazing. It is even better when I’m working. For example, editing pictures is much easier on this machine. I will get into this later. For now, I want to discuss the other feature that I love. Can you guess what it is?
My second favourite MacBook Air feature is performance
For years, I have wanted a laptop that would let me browse Google Chrome and have 10 tabs opened, listen to my favourite music on Spotify, and be editing pictures in Adobe Lightroom, all at the same time without my device getting a heat stroke. This laptop performs. With my MacBook Air, I can be productive and efficient, while having fun. Thanks to a smooth to the touch, slim keyboard, I type in very easily and keep my creative ideas rolling. As a writer, a beautiful laptop like this inspires me to keep writing!
I also love photography. Editing photos on my MacBook is a wonderful creative experience. I am currently learning how to use Adobe Lightroom and I feel like my creativity is taking off. I like playing around with the light, brushes, colours, tones, and saturation—every picture I edit is different. This laptop is helping me become an artist.
Easy storage of my filesÂ
Another feature I like about this machine is the storage capacity of 256 GB. I can take photos all day and store all of them on my laptop, without worrying about space. It is so easy to keep them organized when they are right here. I import them from my camera to the laptop, then jump right into editing. Every day is a learning day, and I am so happy to hone my creative skills.
A long-lasting battery
I can’t talk about performance without mentioning battery life. I am someone on-the-go, and this laptop gives me 12 hours of performance without even being plugged in. I can take it anywhere.

A MacBook is more than the sum of its parts
In this article, I focused on some features. However, I want to emphasize that there is more to this laptop than just features. When I edit my pictures, or write my short stories, I feel accomplished. I’m creating meaningful experiences. I’m learning new tools like Adobe Lightroom and new ways to express myself. I’m expanding my boundaries. What’s next for me and my MacBook? More photo editing for sure! But also a lot of quality time spent on writing my next stories, learning HTML, JavaScript, and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite.
