One of the most personal technologies has to be the ereader, like those offered by Kobo. I realize that some of them can surf the web and view multimedia, but for me, they are made for reading books. They are perfectly designed for that one simple task. They are lightweight, with a display that is easy on the eyes in daylight, or at night, and they easily fit in one hand. Why do I love Kobo eReaders so much

Let me tell you a little story, a true story. Once upon a time I had a Kobo ereader, a gift from my children, and I used it all the time. I read a huge assortment of novels on my cherished Kobo: mysteries, historical fiction, classics, trashy pop fiction, non-fiction and more. My brain was filled with great characters and great stories. I took my Kobo everywhere: on cruises in the Caribbean, on flights to Europe, and even back and forth in my car daily so that at any moment I could take a few minutes’ break, just me and my Kobo.

Then tragedy struck: one evening while rushing to take groceries into the house to make dinner, I forgot my Kobo in the car. Wouldn’t you know it, a thief broke into my car and stole it. I was shattered! End of story. However, I still feel the loss. You never know how much you love something until it’s gone.

  3. Never had a Kobo ereader of my own but just by reading this review, it makes me want to get one! No more carrying around 3-4 heavy books on a trip, the lightweightness of the reader seems to be one of the best feature!

  8. I have an older Kobo reader that I absolutely love. Best quality: The paper white screen is perfect for reading outside in bright light. The super long battery life is a plus as well.

  9. I’ve recently started reading books on my phone instead of paper and I love how easy shopping for them is and I can just pick up right where I left off super easily. Much lighter than carrying a bunch of books around. I would love a kobo

  33. Beside stating the obvious, light weight, hundreds of books, easy to look at and beautiful light for night reading I love my Kobo because of its adjustable font size and line spacing. I have a vision problem with blurred double vision and had almost had to give up on reading. Kobo saved my reading obsession.

  34. I personally like the concept of having a compact thin ereader and loading a bunch of books without having to leave the comfort of my home or having to carry a bunch of books with me while I’m on the bus to work or school.

  42. Kobo has revolutionized the way my 92 year old mom can read books. With her arthritis holding a hard cover book is heavy and painful. The Kobo is as light as a feather!

  43. At home, I prefer to read paperback novels. It’s the feel and texture of a real book I love most (plus they add to the decor). BUT… with two todddlers and a crawling baby, that decor is mostly ripped up pieces of paper scattered throughout the house. Having an eReader keeps all my best stories safe and of course it’s much easier to load it full of new stories to take with me wherever we go. Mainly camping in the summer!

  47. Love that it’s lightweight, easy to travel with and can be kept in my bag so when an unexpected delay occurs, I can pass time catching up on my reads.

  48. I like how it is so customizable with the different fonts and the battery life where it can sustain a single charge for up to a couple of weeks

  50. I love my current Kobo but it’s an old one…. I love it because I can bring my books everywhere with me even to the fields when bringing my husband suppers, or waiting at the grainary. Plus I love collecting my plum points so a Kobo is a necessity.
