Modern computing accessories like Seagate storage solutions help boost productivity and security and are great for anyone who works from home. Some people want an ultra portable solution like the One Touch SSD that is light-weight and compact yet still able to store a lot of information. Others prefer a massive Firecuda Gaming Dock with the super fast Thunderbolt 3 connection to get the data to and from your computer with minimal delay, you know Seagate is a great option to handle your data. This contest has both options available as prizes: one winner will get the portable solution, one winner will get the high-capacity solution.
Seagate protects you from putting all your eggs in one basket
Idioms are beautiful language tools that, among other things, enable us to address complex topics in simple terms that are accessible to everyone. The idiom above about eggs in a basket is a great example: the eggs are your data; the basket is the harddrive in your computer; the risk is to lose all data if that one storage location fails or falls or is stolen, etc.
Industry experts have been advising people for decades to back up data. There was a time when that meant using multiple floppy disks; now it is much easier thanks to the options like those from Seagate.
How much storage do you need?
More than you think, is the short answer. If your data is mostly word files, pdfs, some image, for a small family or small business, then get 500 GB or 1 TB. This amount of storage is available in very small packages these days: like the Ultra Portable prize offered in this contest. Learn more about this prize in this article on the blog.
If you are a gamer and you need storage for huge game files, game downloads, or video files, then you need at least a couple terabytes and this contest has a 4TB prize that will serve your needs. I actually sent this product to Dave Neufeld for a review from a gamers viewpoint, and to Brad Moon for a review from a productivity viewpoint. Dave found that as a gamer, this was the ultimate epicenter of his gaming setup. Brad, however, suggested that you might not get the most from this unless you regularly managed large files, and had a computer capable of capitalizing on the high data transfer rates from the Firecuda.
So think about it: how much storage do you think you really need in your home? That’s the question to answer.
How to enter
Entering is easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us how much storage you think would be ideal in your home to backup data on your computers. Is 500GB enough or do you need a lot more?
What you can win
At the end of this contest we will draw two winners. One will win the 500GB One Touch SSD and the other will win the 4TB Seagate Firecuda Gaming Dock.
This contest runs from April 1st to April 15th.
Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably have a friends or perhaps someone in your family who should backup their data more often. Tell them about the contest so they too have a chance to win.
500gb should be enough to back up my family photos and important documents.
500gb would be more than enough for me and would be a great addition to my laptop/desktop mere 120gb.
i don’t need much… 500gb would be enough
Several terabytes is ideal as a storage amount for me.
I would need 4 TB as gamer and a family with tons of photo and video files.
500 gb would be great
I’d probably need about 4TB. I’m a digital hoarder.
If it’s just for main day-to-day data, it would probably total around 5TB on the various disks.
However, if backups are factored in, then probably at least 10TB total.
I think 1 TB would be enough, after losing all my kids pictures and videos of their baby years I need something that’s reliable!
I’d need at least 4 TB
500gb is good enough
I need it.
500 gb would be perfect for just personal pc stuff but for my business applications I have 40 tb on a NAS.
I would think 5TB would be more than enough to be sure i could back up everything, have it all in one place and not have to worry about losing anything important, as i wouldn’t have to pick and choose what to backup.
I think 4TB would soon become the standard as we dive into 4k content. I shoot a lot of pictures and video so that’s what I think I’ll be needing!
500 GB, mostly photos.
The 4 TB would be needed for all the movies, family pics, videos and gaming data.
I don’t typically save much and use cloud storage every chance I can, so probably 1 TB would be sufficient enough.
Probably 1TB
4 TB would be about what I need for backup.
To backup, I would need a minimum of 4TB although more would be better.
Definitely more. Tons of movies and games in this house.
3TB would be best for this house.
at least 1 TB storage for home videos and pics
Starting to get up there would probably need 1TB
At least 10TB!
at least 1 TB storage for home videos and pics
To backup, I would need a minimum of 4TB although more would be better.
I’d say 3TB would be ideal for our family with loads of family pics and videos
Ideally I would like 1 tb for now.
There’s an old saying, the more the merrier.
I have a 500GB storage drive for games now and need a much larger one. A 500GB ssd for the OS would be good.
It is a start, but 3 to 4 TB is more like it.
Thanks
I think 500 GB would be plenty enough for me! I don’t take many pictures or have many electronic items I need to save on a daily basis.
About 10TB would be lots.
I would love 2Tb for all the photos of my kids!! I have thousands of photos and hundreds of videos to save.
I think we would need more as we have lots of photos, videos, games at home this would be a big help!
Well. my video collection would exceed 70 TB… So say, 1 PB really to backup everything…
4TB would be enough to keep backups of all my data
6TB

I’d like as much storage as I could get. You never know what you want to save. I think I would like 16 Kb
It’s a data filled world 1T
Quite a few pictures on our hard drive so at least 1 TB
3-4 would be optimal as we have lots and lots of kids videos to backup
