CES 2022 showcased the newest offerings in home audio. From headphones and home amplifiers, to portable Bluetooth speakers, there was no shortage of new products announced. A big theme this year was portability, voice assistance integration, and quick pairing to mobile devices. With that in mind, let’s see what’s new in home audio.
Edifier MP230 portable Bluetooth speaker
Inspired by the vintage radios from the 1950s and 160s, the Edifier MP230 blends modern tech with a classic mid-century design. It was a CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree.
Inside, the stereo acoustic system consists of two 48 mm full-frequency driver units with integrated double passive radiators. The wooden enclosure provides rich stereo sound while also reducing the acoustic resonance. Unlike the wooden speakers of the past, the MP230 is portable, with 16 hours of battery life. In addition to Bluetooth 5 connectivity, it features AUX and TF card inputs.
Edifier MP100 Plus portable Bluetooth speaker
The Edifier MP100 Plus is for active people, looking to take their music with them on the go. It received a CES 2022 Innovation Award. It has a unique design with finger-shaped concave buttons and a fabric loop. Constructed from durable waterproof fabric and IPX7 water resistance rating, it’s ready for any outdoor environment. For example, you can hook it to a hiking bag or take it with you to the beach. In short, its versatility appeals to active users.
Inside is a 43mm high-sensitivity internal magnetic speaker. The lithium-ion battery provides 5W of output with 8 hours of battery life. The sound is loud but undistorted. Moreover, its curved design makes it easy to hold and carry a portable powerhouse.
Mark Levinson № 5909 ANC headphones
We can’t talk about home audio without discussing the latest in luxury audio. The Mark Levinson № 5909 ANC headphones is the first portable offering from a brand known for home and car audio. Constructed with aluminum components, a leather headband, and replaceable leather ear cushions, these headphones are premium quality.
Inside are 40mm Beryllium coated drivers designed by the same sound engineers behind Mark Levinson’s amplifiers, turntables, and streaming players. Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Aware mode make them perfect for the living room or a busy downtown street. With 34 hours of battery life and 6 hours of playtime from a 15-minute charge, it appeals to busy professionals who appreciate and value Hi-Res Audio.
Harman Kardon Citation Amp
The new Citation Amp from Harman Kardon was another CES 2022 Innovation Award Nominee. It powers any bookshelf, floor-standing, in-wall or ceiling speakers. With its all-new Digital Loop Amplifier technology, it delivers over 200 watts per channel. Chromecast comes built-in and Apple users can stream their favourite music with AirPlay. Connect a TV through the included HDMI ARC output.
JBL Partybox 710
Finally, the JBL Partybox 710 was another CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree. It features 800W of powerful JBL Original Pro Sound with dual 2.75” tweeters and 8” woofers. With customizable light shows, it can transform any place into a nightclub. Sync music to customizable strobes and other light effects. This can be done on the top panel dials of the speaker or from the PartyBox app. If you’re in the mood to party, this speaker is for you.
