Among many new products LG will be showcasing at CES 2023 in Las Vegas in early January 2023 is a new line of sound bars. They focus on the beautiful symmetry between these audio devices and LG TVs. This includes a new WOW Orchestra feature that provides an expanded soundstage when the two work harmoniously together. There’s also an innovative new bracket design for simple, flush mounting, right to a compatible TV.

The standout features of these new sound bars

There are a few new features that make these sound bars, the SC9 and SE6, stand out. All rely on the way they are designed to pair seamlessly and beautifully with new TVs in the LG lineup. Those are still under wraps, but will officially be announced at LG’s CES press conference on the morning of January 4, 2023.

WOW Orchestra – A new feature called WOW Orchestra will be available via software update. It uses the audio channels in both the sound bar and the TV to create an expanded soundstage. You’ll enjoy improved height, depth, and power. Enjoy Dolby Atmos and IMAX enhanced quality sound powered by DTS:X. While you’ll get great sound either way, it will be an enhanced experience when a WOW Orchestra-enabled TV and sound bar are used together.

Home Dashboard – The second way these new sound bars offer a seamless experience with LG TVs is through the Home Dashboard. You can now manage the sound bar’s settings and share sound modes right from the Home Dashboard on a compatible LG TV. With WOWCAST, the new Wi-Fi-enabled sound bars can connect wirelessly to LG TVs. This provides a tidy, cable-free experience without sacrificing on audio quality.

The new bracket – The third stand-out feature is the innovative new bracket that makes it easy to slide and mount the LG sound bar directly under a compatible LG TV. The bracket attaches to the rear of a compatible LG TV. It can be used in both a wall-mount or stand-mount set-up, positioning the sound bar at a height or location that will provide the best sound experience. This creates a flush and beautiful look, and it’s also easy to install without the need to drill holes in the wall when wall mounting. Each sound bar will come with the bracket. The one that’s bundled with the SC9, for example, is compatible with LG’s 2022 and 2023 OLED C series TVs.

The main features of the new sound bars

Beyond these new, innovative features that are designed to provide a harmonious experience with LG sound bars and TVs, the SC9 and SE6 sound bars have more exciting audio features.

Among the core features is multi-surround sound via Dolby Atmos and IMAX enhanced powered by DTS:X. They also feature LG’s Triple Sound Technology, which includes a triple up-firing speaker. New this year is Triple Level Spatial Sound Technology. This involves channel analysis performed by an HRTF-based 3D engine that adds a virtual mid-layer to the experience. The result, says LG, is lifelike sound with a “convincing sense of space.”

The sound bars also boast LG’s Triple Sound Optimizer. This feature intelligently boosts the sound bar’s performance. A smart up-mixer, meanwhile, converts two-channel audio into multi-channel surround. To ensure the best possible audio experience in the low-frequency range, AI Room Calibration analyzes the room and applying the information to the settings. This feature also subdivides the front channel frequencies to improve balance, vocal clarity, movie dialogue, and sound accuracy.

Additionally, the new sound bars feature LG’s advanced AI Sound Pro feature. This analyzes the audio signal and automatically applies the best setting based on if you’re watching a movie versus sporting event, playing video games, or listening to music.

What else to know about the sound bars

These new 2023 model sound bars are compatible with a variety of streaming services. They can, for example, play lossless tracks from services like Tidal Connect. They also support VRR to reduce screen tearing while gaming and ALLM to eliminate lag and permit 4K/120Hz pass-through.

The compact SE6 model, designed for smaller spaces, might be smaller in size, but it packs an audible punch thanks to four passive radiators. It also supports Dolby Atmos for cinematic sound with a compatible audio source.

  1. I have had serious issues with the WOW Orchestra, as it can develop serious echos that become rather annoying. Having conversed with LG over this, and the fact that the WOW becomes the default audio, I have been told that you can’t turn it off or disable it. It will revert any changes back to the WOW if you do change it, and a warning, I have had the volume increase (discovered when turning on the TV) to the point of harming ones hearing. Be careful with this feature.
