Nintendo Switch OLED

The Nintendo Switch family of systems is growing with a brand new member. Mark your calendars for October 8, 2021 because that’s when the newest Nintendo Switch launches, Nintendo Switch OLED model. This brand-new model gives you yet another way to enjoy your favourite Nintendo Switch games.

Let’s take a look at what sets the Nintendo Switch OLED model apart from the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.

New features and enhancements

The first thing you’ll instantly notice about the Nintendo Switch OLED model is that it has a larger screen. It comes with a 7-inch OLED screen, which means the display offers more vibrant and vivid colours with a crisp contrast when compared to the LCD screen in the other two Nintendo Switch models.

Additionally, the Nintendo Switch OLED model comes with a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode. This is a big improvement over the Nintendo Switch’s stand that is fairly narrow and sometimes not that sturdy. Furthermore, this brand-new model comes with a new dock that has a wired ethernet port for greater internet stability and speed. Other new features and upgrades include 64GB of internal storage versus the 32GB internal storage that comes with the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite. And, the Nintendo Switch OLED model comes with enhanced audio for handheld and tabletop play.

Two colour options to choose from

The Nintendo Switch OLED model will come in two colour options:

  • Nintendo Switch OLED model white set, which features white Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a white dock.
  • Nintendo Switch OLED model neon red/neon blue set, which features neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a black dock.

Experience the enhancements of the Nintendo Switch OLED

Just like the Nintendo Switch, this brand-new model allows players to play their favourite games in three different modes:

TV mode: Set the system into the dock to play Nintendo Switch games on the TV. By using the built-in wired LAN port, players can enjoy another way to connect online in TV mode.

Tabletop mode: Flip the stand on the back of the system and use the system’s screen to play multiplayer games using two Joy-Con controllers right out of the box. A wide adjustable stand makes for a solid and sturdy foundation. It allows players to freely tilt the system and adjust the viewing angle, so it makes it easier to see the screen.

Handheld mode: Players can bring the Nintendo Switch OLED model wherever they go in handheld mode and play their favourite games using the system’s 7-inch OLED screen.

  1. I am very happy to announce that ill get a brand new PlayStation 5 in a mater of weeks. That’s the reason why i will not be picking up the Nintendo oled model. I consider myself lucky to be getting a console that has KRAKEN , SSD that loads fast and it also has ray tracing , haptic feed back and also 4K playable. i played the switch from the start till today but i think switch doesn’t have the fire that the last consoles had .that’s make sense to me i don’t know about others but my choice of gaming is the the most wanted PlayStation 5.

  2. hello i am forward to this nintendo oled model. i do not have a nintendo yet but the day i thought i should buy this i saw the nintendo oled model and i was exited and it would be a birthday presint for me becuse my birthday is october 8th. so im very forward to this nintendo oled mode.l but i have a question will nintendo sell this nintendo oled model online if it is it would make my hole life amazing.

  3. hello, im sure i wont have to pre-order for a nintendo switch oled model because im certain on getting my hands on the SONY PSP 5G HANDHELD PORTABLE CONSOLE thats coming out soon . Things have really changed since back in the days for gaming. Im looking foward for the future of gaming. enjoy

  4. Hello ,i want to say that im looking foward to this new oled model its high time that Nintendo awoke from their sleep and started developing beautifull and great games for example 007 golden eye , Tarzan and others just to name a few .what i honestly think is nintendo is weak and lagging behind in the area of the production of games that make the player have a sense of joy .i hope that they fix this problem.

  5. Somehow my household already has 5 switches (everyone has one) but I can’t resist swapping one of them for this new model haha.

Do we have any idea when Canadian pre-orders will go live?

  6. That white OLED Switch looks so sweet! If this new model came with any gameplay improvements like outputting to 4K it would be an automatic day one purchase for me, but at this moment I’m not yet 100% certain about it.

Thanks Jon, I look forward to see more about this OLED Switch as we get closer to launch!
