Rune Factory 4 Special
The game I wanted to play most at XSEED’s booth was Rune Factory 4 Special. In case you are unaware, Rune Factory 4 is a farming adventure game that was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS. It is being remastered for the Nintendo Switch with HD graphics, 2D cut-scene animations and a fully voiced story.
Furthermore, the game includes Newlywed mode, which introduces special episodes about living the married life and new in-game cutscenes. Additionally, an even higher difficulty mode is available for expert players. The demo started out at the the beginning of the game in a village. I got to explore the various different places and meet its inhabitants.
I did a little bit of fishing at a near by pond and even ventured out into the woods. If you are a fan of Rune Factory 4 on the 3DS then you’ll love Rune Factory 4 Special on the Switch. The game is schedule to be released sometime in 2019.
Heroland is a unique single-player RPG about a theme park. In this game, guests can explore dungeons, beat up enemies and become heroes. Dungeon battles were the only thing playable in the demo, but I was assured that the game contains a fully-fledged story. The game uses a retro pixelated art style and its characters are flat in the same fashion as the Paper Mario games.
The battles are automated but at anytime as the tour guide you can help out your guests in battle. You can throw potions to those that are injured and even change their strategies to offensive or defensive. To be honest, at first, I was a little put off by the automated battles. Though, as I kept playing the gameplay mechanics grew on me. I have a genuine interest in the game and am looking forward to see how it all turns out.
RPG fans will also be interested to know that Heroland developers worked on a wide variety of games including Fantasy Life, Legend of Mana, MOTHER 3, and Shin Megami Tensei. Hero land is launching this year. However, there is not a firm date in place at this time.
